Sergei's daughter Olga last year entered GITIS, the acting department in the workshop of director Leonid Kheifets. By the way, Sergei Bodrov himself was going to VGIK after school, but his parents were categorically against it. Not with anything yet. The film hasn't been released yet. All in all, it's just a short film. If you collect material about my dad, that's one thing. And there is nothing to write about me yet - I am a second-year student. When I become an actress - then another conversation. Now I don't deserve that kind of attention.

But you didn't change your last name. They will always say about you that you are the daughter of that same Sergei Bodrov - you can’t get away from this ...

I'm not going to leave. And I'm not going to change my name.

This fall, 15 years have passed since Sergei Bodrov went missing. This is the first ever interview of his widow, television director Svetlana Bodrova. She told Katerina Gordeeva about her husband, her work and her best friend, television producer Sergei Kushnerev, who died at the beginning of this year, with whom she had been doing the unique Wait for Me program for many years. We have become accustomed to treat today's television with disgust. But this is a story about a completely different television.

- At the 30th anniversary of the TV company VID (celebrated in early October. - Ed.) you were not. Why?

I was invited, but I refused to come. I do not consider it possible for myself after everything that happened.

- Is it about the program "Wait for me"?

Including.

You worked in the program for fourteen years and left it together with the creator of "Wait for me", its editor-in-chief and the editor-in-chief of the TV company VI D Sergei Kushnerev. Most of the team left with you. Is it possible to say that from now on “Wait for me” is already a different program?

Don't know. At least, this program has nothing to do with me anymore.

- Have you seen the first broadcast of "Wait for me" on NTV?

Yes. But I would not like to comment. Very painful. Remember, when Vlad Listyev was killed, all the projects he created began with the caption "Vlad Listyev's Project." So, “Wait for me” must begin with the fact that this is the “Project of Sergey Kushnerev”. It's honest, it's right, it's a tribute to the man, thanks to countless ideas, talent and sleepless nights of which these people are now working: they pronounce the words he invented, use the search system that he has been creating for years. All this - I mean the huge project "Wait for me" - Kushnerev did not give of his own free will: his offspring was taken away from him. And now they are trying to convince everyone that some kind of continuity has been preserved, that everything is in order. No. It's not okay. And there is no one from our old team in the new "Wait for me", including the hosts. But in the database that remains, there are two million letters of those who are looking for each other. These people are not to blame for anything. Therefore, of course, I looked: it is important for me to know what is happening and will happen with the program in which I have worked for 14 years.

- A in VIDhow long did you work?

Since 1991. It so happened that I graduated from the Moscow Institute of Geodesy, Cartography and Aerial Photography, and the country was in complete disarray, it was not at all clear where to go. In the depths of my soul, I always dreamed of making a movie, but, probably, I would not even dare to say it out loud then. I rushed around Moscow in search of work: some Soviet-American enterprises, cooperatives, something else. And then a friend calls and says: “An administrator is needed for the Vzglyad program. Don't you want to go?" I'm speechless. Because then I, of course, like the whole country, was a fan of television. This is first. Secondly, I had a girlfriend Natasha Bodrova - that's what fate is, right? - her mother, aunt Tanya Bodrova, still works on Channel One, and then she worked on the youth channel of the Yunost radio station. And Natasha and I ran to her in Ostankino. And it was another Magic world: Ostankino corridors, coffee in a buffet in faceted glasses, almond round cakes and small cakes with mushrooms. It was all mesmerizing. Sometimes, frozen in one of these Ostankino corridors, I thought: “What if I also work here?”

In general, when my friend called, I was dumbfounded: to work in the "Vzglyad"? Yes, this is a dream! Speech after all about the same"Look", for which the whole country froze on Fridays at the TV. And I ran as fast as I could. Then all this was still the youth edition of the USSR State Radio and Television, I still have a certificate with a gilded inscription! And Friday was given to the programs of the TV company VID - "Muzoboz", "Vzglyad", "Field of Miracles" and others. VIDa already had many programs then. It was accepted that the head of each program was attached to the administrative staff that worked with him. We came at the same time as Roma Butovsky (now - main director Channel One, director of the programs "Times", "Let them talk", etc., parades on Red Square and "Direct Lines" with the president. - Ed.). When they began to register us in the state, it was already necessary to decide which program you were in, and Roma said: “I want to join Vzglyad.” And with me it seemed like it was clear to everyone: I went to Muzoboz. It was my element. I worked in this program from the fourth issue to the very last one.

- Television of the 90s is not at all like the current one?

Oh no, they are completely different things. That television is just love for me. There has never been such an atmosphere and freedom as then. And there has never been such an opportunity. Imagine: we had the opportunity to create a new television with our own hands, because the old one fell apart before our very eyes.

Careers - from administrators to correspondents and directors, or from editors to presenters - this is also about television in the 90s. It seems that then anyone from the street could come to the television center and get a chance.

Certainly! In addition, we were lucky: my teacher Ivan Demidov (one of the founders of the TV company VID, in the early 90s - the program manager of the TV company on TV-6. - Ed.) sent Roma and me to study. Then on Shabolovka there was an Institute for Advanced Studies of Television Workers. And we learned both editing, and how the director's console works, and the profession itself.

- You still did "Sharks of the Pen", right?

Certainly. Sometimes I even think with horror that I myself, with my own hands, raised this yellow press in our country. But it was like this: at the end of November, Ivan [Demidov] came: “Here, Svet, we need to make such a program so that journalists sit in the studio, questions, hero ...” Everything is somehow neither shaky nor roll, nothing concrete . I say: "Well, I'll think about it." And he, already leaving the control room, says: “Light, I forgot to tell you. We go on the air on the second of January.

- Are you out?

They left, of course. The first hero was Valery Leontiev. And everything worked out! Then it could not be otherwise. It was some kind of happy mixture of impossible fanaticism and love for the profession: no personal life, everyone lives with toothbrushes at work, work is their home for everyone, and there seems to be no world outside the television center. We're not exactly on fire at work. We just lived it and were happy. Although they swore, and quarreled, and died from lack of sleep. Sometimes I can’t even believe that I saw such television almost 27 years ago with my own eyes, that all this happened to me. Imagine, from 1991 to 2014 I had only one entry in work book: TV company VID.

- And how did you come to the program "Wait for me"? How and by whom was it invented?

For me, it all started with a call from Kushnerev: “Sveta, don’t you want to do a wonderful program “Wait for me” with me?” And I say: "I want." “Then come right now. We're getting ready to shoot." Filming was scheduled for two days later. This program at the very beginning was called "Looking for you." It was invented by Andrey Razbash (producer, TV presenter, one of the co-founders of the TV company VID. - Ed.) and journalist Oksana Naychuk. Several releases in live aired on RTR. Kushnerev was invited to the program by Razbash. But something did not work out on RTR. Naichuk retained the name "I'm looking for you." And Kushnerev began to come up with a program. That is, in fact, he began to create a system that did not exist anywhere else in the world to search for people, which would later become the basis of the program. In 1999, "Wait for me" in the form in which you already know it, was released on Channel One.

- And how did Kushnerev get into VID?

He came to VID from Komsomolskaya Pravda in 1992 or 1993. At the same time, VID was based not in Ostankino, but on Lukyanov Street. There were montages in which both "Vzglyad" and "Muzoboz" were edited in shifts. I, in fact, mounted my "Muzoboz". And the Vzglyozovskys infuriated me terribly: they edited at night and constantly delayed the control room. The alignment was as follows: we are show business, tough guys, and these are journalists with all their politics and the truth of life, well, them! And we kept tugging at each other in that queue for editing. I remember, after they took Seryozha Bodrov, I stood over them when they were editing, and I said: “Who did you take in general? He somehow says that you can’t mount it, so you sit for so long. They say to me: "This is an artist."

- Before you met Bodrov, didn’t you see him on the screen?

No. And a few weeks before we met, in one simple video store on Prospekt Mira, the guys who somehow rolled up all the latest news and who always had everything, suddenly said: “Look,“ Brother ”was released, our film is very good. I say: "I don't watch our films." Well, don't look - and don't look, okay.

- And you didn’t watch the Prisoner of the Caucasus?

No. But the “Prisoner of the Caucasus” was watched by Seryozha Kushnerev. He was then the editor-in-chief of Vzglyad. And he called Bodrov. First on the air, and then in the frame.

After they took Seryozha Bodrov, I stood over them when they were editing, and I said: “Who did you take in general? He somehow says that you can’t mount it, so you sit for so long. They say to me: "This is an artist."

- That is, to put Bodrov in the frame, to make the leader - was it Kushnerev's decision?

Well, of course, yes. First, Sergei Vladimirovich was invited to Vzglyad (director Sergei Bodrov Sr. - Ed.) and Seryozha as guests. Right during the broadcast, Kushnerev's eyes lit up, and he decided to call Seryozha as the host. He somehow felt that Bodrov would become a breath of fresh air, that he was from a new generation, he was a hero of this generation: this is what Kushnerev saw in him. He had this amazing talent - to immediately see a person. In general, they started talking immediately after the broadcast, went somewhere to a bar, they talked for a very long time. Then they called up and met. Seryoga [Bodrov] did not immediately decide. Well, somehow, he said, not ready. But Kushnerev, on the other hand, knows how to turn on his ideas, he is terribly enthusiastic! In general, persuaded. And Bodrov himself caught fire. And they already both grappled and did not disengage - at work, after work, they always came up with something, discussed: “Come on like this, but let’s do this?” They were instantly on the same wavelength.

You know me kind people, of course, they sent a film by Yuri Dudya, in which Alexander Mikhailovich Lyubimov told how he noticed this young artist ( documentary film about Sergei Bodrov, released in September. - Ed.). I saw the movie and heard it all with my own ears. And it angered me. And mother Serezhina was also outraged. Man on blue eye says: "I noticed him, I saw him, I invited him." Not! Lyubimov has nothing to do with Bodrov's invitation to Vzglyad. They were never friends, they never had a warm relationship. I will say more: when a tragedy happened in our house, in our family, Sasha Lyubimov did not call me or Serezina's mother. He did not offer help and did not ask: “Sveta, how are you?” Although he readily participates in all films about Seryozha, presenting himself as a great friend.

Friends - they are generally very few. When all and sundry about my Seryozha make films on different channels, I am always amazed at the number of people who are generally unfamiliar to me, who pretend to be friends of the Serezhins. Maybe they used to be? I don't know. But while we lived with Serezha, only four people regularly appeared in our house: Sergei Anatolyevich Kushnerev, Sergei Mikhailovich Selyanov, Alexei Balabanov, and Volodya Kartashov, the artist who died with Serezha. Everything. Now only Selyanov remains, with whom, unfortunately, we meet very rarely. And Balabanov is no more. And Serezha Kushnerev is also missing.

- How did you meet?

In fact, we met both Kushnerev and Bodrov at the same time in 1997. As one of the best employees of the VID television company, I was promised a vacation anywhere in the world where I wanted. I chose Nice. And then they squeezed Nice and said: "Look" is going to Cuba, they will work, and you will rest. In general, getting on the plane, I hated "Vzglyad" and all these people with whom I would have to spend my vacation for some reason. Well, they didn't like me either. Kushnerev later recalled: "Fifa is some kind of glasses all of herself." But suddenly, somehow, on the plane, Kushnerev and I got into a conversation. Of course, about television. Of course, I'm talking about my Sharks of the Pen, that I want to change the format, add something. He listened more and more. Then he told me that he thought: well, yes, he seems to be not a fool, you can talk. BUT best friend Kushnereva - Bodrov, they have a common "Look", sleepless nights, which they spent in disputes and conversations at Kushnerev's dacha in Valentinovka. And they sat side by side on the plane. But, unfortunately, during the flight, the pilots were informed that Kushnerev's father, a very famous Moscow neurosurgeon, had died in Moscow. And Seryozha [Kushnerev] was forced to fly back to Moscow on the very first flight. But Bodrov remained.

And there, in Cuba, we suddenly started talking to him ... For some reason, I remember this moment very well: we caught each other in Hemingway's house. And then they talked and talked without ceasing: about themselves, about me, about him. He then wrote to me in one letter: “You and I are like two twin brothers who were separated thirty years ago.” We, you know, were like some kind of sticky from each other, can you say so? They spoke to each other as if they had been silent all their lives before.

- what it is the same love, you both understood at once and at the same time?

You know, I tried to build some walls, of course. I was used to living alone, I was an adult - 30 years old, it seemed to me that I would never get married and I would never have children; I was sure: in my life there is and will be only one thing - work. And somehow I defended myself. But Sergei did not let go. After Cuba, we practically did not part with him.

Although not: immediately upon returning from Havana, my Seryozha had to go fishing with Seryozha Kushnerev on the Don. They agreed a long time ago. For two whole weeks. Where they were going, there was no connection. And suddenly a message comes to my pager from Bodrov. Very warm, personal, gentle. And I think: « Well, why? Well, if there is a connection, why can’t he call me? Then it turned out that Petya Tolstoy was there with them on a fishing trip, but returned earlier. And Seryoga gave him such an assignment. But I didn't know! I missed you, of course: they just kind of met - and parted for some reason. And it was then that I went to my video store on Prospekt Mira, saying: “Well, let me already have this “Brother” that you were talking about.” Them: "You didn't want to watch." “Well, I didn’t want to, now I want to.” I took the cassette and, while he was gone, looked at it probably a hundred and fifty-five times. Then he arrives. And we are no longer separated, always and everywhere together. One evening I told him: “Oh, I have such cool guys here in one video store. Let's go pick something and see." We go with him. The guys jaw drops, and they are silent on all questions. "Is there anything to see?" - "There is nothing". - “Well, what about something new, interesting?” - "There is nothing at all." And Serega says: “It’s really good, you have a video salon, a rich choice.” And as soon as he came out, they told me: “Why did you bring him here at all? We're going to be imprisoned now!" Already on the street, Seryoga and I realized what a wild picture they had in their heads: at first I refuse to watch “our” movie, then I demand “Brother”, and then I come to them with the main character. Those were the times when they recorded all this clandestinely. They were just scared. God, how we laughed with Bodrov then.

- And Kushnerev? Did he become your friend or did he remain Serezhin?

At that very first moment, of course, there was only Bodrov in my life. He filled with himself, in general, my whole life. But we, of course, talked with Serezha [Kushnerev]. I have already managed to visit his Valentinovka, where he and Seryoga [Bodrov] loved so much all evening, discussing and inventing something all night long.

Somehow, my Seryoga and I in Valentinovka near Kushnerev had a strong quarrel. It was the very beginning: he is not easy with his character, my character is also not the most accommodating. I slammed the door, jumped into the car - I'm cool: show business, car, mobile phone. And I from them - vzhuh! - tired. Serezha later told me how Kushnerev sits and says: “Seryozha, would you like to marry Sveta?” And Bodrov replies: “I would like to very much. She does not want". And our whole already serious romance, in fact, developed in Valentinovka. Because every day after filming, after some business, we came there. Seryozha generally had his own room in this house. And we always sat up for a long time, discussed new projects, came up with something. We were all young, with burning eyes, of the same blood type.

But Kushnerev, when we just got married, was a little old-fashioned for Seryoga. We didn't work together then. And they have all the projects, all the dreams - everything. And, it turns out, because of me, they had less time for their nightly gatherings in Valentinovka. But they still snatched their time. I remember that on the night of the famous 1998 hurricane, I stayed with my mother in the country, and Bodrov and Kushnerev stayed in Valentinovka. And when all these trees flew, such horror seized me! I was pregnant with our eldest daughter Olya and I think: “Lord, Serezha is probably worried about me there!” And mobile phones were not caught everywhere then. I could hardly wait for the morning to get to the nearest point where there was a connection. I called Kushnerev: “Serge, tell Bodrov not to worry, everything is fine with us.” He says, "What happened?" I just. Did you have a hurricane? - "Hurricane? What hurricane? Well, our lights went out for a while. We just sat at the computer, came up with something there. And we also think: why the hell did they turn off the light! Well, the candle was lit. As soon as he put down the phone, he goes out onto the porch - and he has a century-old Christmas tree there. Fell ten centimeters from the house! And they sat there in their ideas and did not notice anything!

In general, the two of them and the three of us sat in Valentinovka with Kushnerev and talked endlessly about projects, plans - about everything! And our romance with Sergei [Bodrov] is inseparable from these conversations. - And then they worked together in "Wait for me" - and together they left there.

Yes. And I want to say that we would never have left Wait for me. We would do this program to the last opportunity. We loved her. It was more than just a program. Especially for Seryozha [Kushnerev]. I don’t know what to compare with, the comparison with a child is kind of stupid ... It was his life. He came up with an amazing people search system, an algorithm in which two people looking for each other would be in these two million letters in two minutes. Can you imagine? And when now I hear that Alexander Mikhailovich Lyubimov says in the frame: “We”, “We were thinking how to search”, I don’t understand at all: who are these “we”? I have a feeling that all these 14 years I have probably been somewhere on the Moon or on Mars. And somehow I missed some participation of Alexander Mikhailovich in this story. But no, I was sitting in Ostankino, in the control room, next to the person who created all this before my eyes and who had nothing more important and significant in his life than “Wait for me”. I saw how Kushnerev came up with this, I saw the results of his sleepless nights, the implementation of his ideas, which he may not even have talked about, but “Wait for me” was his dream come true, which lived and developed.

- In the press release of the new "Wait for me", which is now airing on NTV, there was no Kushnerev's name.

Lyubimov said it in the frame, on the air. The names of Kushnerev and Bodrov, who actually had nothing to do with Wait for Me. But for some reason, he needs to hide behind the names of Seryozha Kushnerev and Seryozha Bodrov. For some reason, it is necessary to impersonate a friend of Bodrov. Although, I repeat, they were not friends. You know, after some events, I think it would be insulting for Bodrov if Lyubimov were called his friend.

- About what in question?

I will tell only one episode. Balabanov began filming "Brother-2". They were supposed to shoot in 1998, but they did not find the money. I remember how we met - me, Selyanov and Serezha - with Lyubimov and Larisa Sinelshchikova (media manager, ex-president of the VID television company, ex-wife CEO Channel One Konstantin Ernst. - Ed.), who was already working in VID at that time, and asked them to help with money. Selyanov, I remember, pounded on the table: “This will be a folk movie!” But there was no money for filming. Selyanov found them only in 1999. In the same year, even before the filming of Brother-2, Seryozha Bodrov decided to leave Vzglyad.

- Why?

Serezha is a very freedom-loving person. And TV is full of commitments. Sometimes there is no development, it seems to you that you are marking time in one place and nothing happens next. At some point, he got tired of everything, and he decided to leave. Kushnerev was very deeply worried about his departure. But somehow they decided it among themselves. My position was: “Seryozha, whatever you do, I will support you in everything.” Seryoga [Kushnerev], of course, persuaded him, there were some arguments, it was their male conversation, I don’t know what, I won’t say. At some point, Kushnerev understood and accepted everything. But in the leadership of VID, of course, they were dissatisfied with the departure of Bodrov. Even I got a call from the TV company.

Not! Lyubimov has nothing to do with Bodrov's invitation to Vzglyad. They were never friends, they never had a warm relationship. I will say more: when a tragedy happened in our house, in our family, Sasha Lyubimov did not call me or Serezina's mother. He did not offer help and did not ask: “Sveta, how are you?”

- Who called?

I remember that Larisa Sinelshchikova called: "Persuade him." I say: “This is not even discussed. What arrangements can be made? An adult who makes his own decisions.

Lyubimov was also dissatisfied. He probably understood that Vzglyad at that moment was mostly watched because of Bodrov. It hurt him a lot, I think. This was evident at some moments when he was in a hurry to say the phrase “Everything is just beginning” faster than Serezha, although Kushnerev wrote it specifically for Bodrov, it was Serezha’s phrase.

I think that Lyubimov treated Seryozha with some envy also because he understood that their time (of that “Vzglyad” of 1987) had passed. The generation grew up, and Bodrov became a symbol of the new generation, a young hero: the “Prisoner of the Caucasus” came out, the “Brother” came out.

And then just shooting "Brother-2". According to the scenario of Lesha Balabanov, the brothers come to Ostankino at the very beginning of the picture. Balabanov came up with the idea that they should come to the Vzglyad program. Logically. They wanted to remove Lyubimov as the host. He agreed. He promised to help with the organization of the shooting, and to give the Vzglyad studio. By this time, the “Moscow” period of the film was almost completed. The scene in "Vzglyad" is almost the last, then they had to go to America. And then, the day before filming from Vzglyad, they call Balabanov and say: “You know, everything is cancelled. You won’t have the Vzglyad studio, Lyubimov refuses to act in film. It was revenge. Small, ugly, which hurt Lesha [Balabanov] the most.

Everything happened in front of my eyes. Balabanov, when he came to Moscow, always stayed with us. We lived in Ramenki: a small apartment, in the kitchen instead of a table there was a TV box, the dishes were washed in the bathroom. And I remember poor Lesha completely crushed, as he walks around the kitchen around this box. He didn't even scream. He was just crushed. He could not understand: how, how can one betray like that, how can one cancel everything at the last moment, why do agreements mean nothing? It was the human attitude that offended him. The studio didn't burn down, nothing happened. They just refused.

At some point, Balabanov suddenly, in all seriousness, looking into Bodrov's eyes, said: "I will not make a movie." I began to call the director of the picture to buy return tickets to St. Petersburg. By the way, this scene always stands before my eyes when Alexander Mikhailovich [Lubimov] speaks publicly about his friends Balabanov and Bodrov.

- But there is a scene in Ostankino in Brother-2. Although there is no Lyubimov in it.

When Balabanov was about to leave, I literally grabbed him by the sleeve: “Lesh, for God's sake, please, I beg you. Well, he is not the only one working on television. Now we'll figure something out quickly." He: "No, that's all." Bodrov and I are sitting near this box in a complete stupor and do not understand what to do. But then they remembered that, fortunately, there is Vanya Demidov in the world. He, in my opinion, called Selyanov. Vanya, without question, agreed to film himself and give a studio. And all the people who were supposed to be on the site, according to the script, are those with whom I worked in the Kanon program on the same TV-6, such was a talk show about religious issues. I remember how I called all my “combat” comrades, and no one refused, no one asked for money: “Light, what do you need?” - "I need you to star in a good movie." - "Okay, let's go."

She pulled out her sound engineer, administrator, assistants, all the operators, Sashka Zhukovsky the great. Lyosha was so happy, his eyes widened. In general, that's how I and all of us got into the film "Brother-2". Not as they said later that Bodrov's wife was filmed in the cinema. And because of the fact that this situation happened. - Did you like the movie?

I have always liked everything that my Serezha does. You see, of course, we were on the same wavelength, I supported him in all this. And always and in everything was proud of him. I remember when he was defending his dissertation, I went out and told him: “I am proud of you, like my homeland, Seryoga!” And they tell him there in the commission: “The wife looked at you like that! Incredible...” And I just realized every second how lucky I was: what an incredibly deep and talented person is next to me.

You know, now I understand - we could give so much to our children together. I'm the only one who can't do it. This is very hard for me. It’s hard that I don’t have these daily hours in the kitchen with him, when we could talk, talk, talk until the morning. They could just as well be silent. Ride in the car and be silent. Or stay at home and be silent. Sometimes I see how people do not know how to be silent with each other, but we could. We didn’t talk - but that didn’t mean that we didn’t want to talk, we are still together, we have an internal dialogue with each other. And our son Sasha - he is the same, very similar in character to Seryozha. Highly. Even in movements sometimes: when he starts to grimace or dance, he pierces me with a direct current, because I see Seryozha. - Bodrov after "Brother-2" began to shoot himself because he no longer wanted to act?

At the beginning there was a script "Morphine". He thought about what script to write, and I advised him "Morphine", because Bulgakov is my favorite writer, and "Morphine" is such a multi-level work: a love story, a story of a fall, and this leitmotif of constant running when he runs from the hospital, from himself, and there is already a revolution in all Ivanovo. I say "try it". He got carried away and wrote a very good script. But “Morphine” was not ready to shoot at that moment, he said that it should be a global picture. As a result, Lesha [Balabanov] withdrew. But this is not the film that was conceived, although Serezha's surname is in the credits, but it was already when he was gone. After "Morphine" came the "Sisters". Together in St. Petersburg, we chose locations for them, nature, I helped him. He brought the material, we watched it together, I even gave some advice.

And then there was "Connected". At the level of an idea. It started when Seryoga was filming with Varnier in "East - West" (Regis Varnier's 1999 film. - Ed.). There, on the set, he met two such semi-bandits, guys from Dagestan, as far as I remember. They were hiding abroad. When he called me from there, he told me how interesting it was for him to listen to them. Serega generally liked to listen to people, he adored stories from someone's life. He always begged Nina Ivanovna, my mother, to tell me something about post-war years, my grandmother, when she was still alive, asked about life, loved to listen to old women. So, in Bulgaria, where they filmed "East - West", these semi-bandits told him how they ran away, how they hid, about some real-life sorceress who they met. And Seryoga wrote everything down for them. This is how the idea of ​​the painting “The Messenger” was born. There, even the heroes are called Armen and Ilyas - that was the real name of those guys. He wrote for a very long time, tormenting this "Connected". He was dear to him.

I remember how he gave it to me to read for the first time. And I had such a feeling, you know, I thought to myself: “How can this boy, in general, fit so many things in his head at once? How talented he is! What happiness has fallen to me. Because, you see, it seems that we are close, some kind of everyday life surrounds, but at the same time, I had in my hands a work that characterizes it in a completely different way, with complex structures and a deep understanding of many things, life, people's characters, it's all intertwined. And I read and understand that I am in contact with a man of incredible talent and intelligence. And he lives next to me! It's hard to explain properly, but when you go usual life, even permeated with relationships, love, filled with children, you still can’t always fully appreciate the happiness that fate has given you: to be close to such a person. And I’m also proud that he always told me: “If it weren’t for you, I might not have filmed, I wouldn’t have written.” Yes, of course, I encouraged him to do his own thing. And, having finished writing the script for The Messenger, he said: “I will shoot it in such a way that I will not be ashamed in front of you.”

There was also such a character in the script - the Afghan Lekha. Bodrov could not choose an actor for this character. I didn't want to take off. But when I read the script, I say: “This role is yours, yours!” And I persuaded him to act there all the same. And he began to persuade me to go to him for this picture as a second director. Then heavy artillery, Selyanov, joined these persuasions. He understood that everything is like in “Wait for me”, where I feel without words what Kushnerev wants. On Svyaznoy, I will be able to understand Seryoga [Bodrov] from a half-gaze. On the site in such a complex picture, it is terribly important when there are people nearby who do not need to explain anything for a long time, who can do everything that you have planned without further ado. In general, Bodrov and Selyanov persuaded me.

And I quit Wait for Me. Seryoga was in shock, Kushnerev. I quit, several episodes came out without me, and then the program went on repeat, because Kushnerev could not accept the idea that “Wait for me” would do without me. Well, then he somehow slowly got used to it. And in August, our son Sasha was born with Bodrov. I remember well how we are driving in a car from the hospital and Kushnerev calls: “Congratulations, Svetka!” And then he says to Seryoga: “Well, when will we meet?” Bodrov replies: “Listen, I am now leaving for shooting in North Ossetia. As soon as I return from Vladikavkaz, we will meet.” This was their last conversation. After the birth of Sasha, we stayed at home for two weeks. Then Serega took us to the dacha and left for these shootings. I can see it right now: he gets into his beloved Land Rover Defender » huge and says: "I'm from the airport right to you." This is his last sentence. And I accompany him. You know, as he flew into my life, like a bird, he flew away.

Who was there when it all happened?

Seryozhka Kushnerev arrived. He came and said: “Light, please come back to “Wait for me””. And on September 20, everything happened, and on November 5, I already went to the shooting.

"Otherwise you wouldn't have survived?"

In every sense, she would not have survived. We still had nothing to live on. Before leaving, Seregin bought an apartment. There were bare walls. Two children. You have to feed them somehow, you have to earn money, you have to live. But I don't remember those months at all. I don't think I thought at all. I didn’t even realize that all I was left with was nothing, that it was all over.

Even Kostya Ernst came. He hugged me like that and said: “Well, what? Your men left you." I say yes. I don't have anyone left now." He said, "I won't quit."

- Kushnerev flew to Ossetia?

No. I flew every weekend. And, you know, when in various films and programs Ossetians say that no one helped them at the government level, this is not true. There, when the situation arose that they were already going to disperse everyone, there was no equipment, there was no support and the phone was silent - this is also very scary, when the phone was silent, everything was already there, no one believed, no one said anything ... In general, silence. You know, somehow everything was on the edge. And Seryozhka Kushnerev says to me: “You should probably call Ernst. Only he can have a way out.” At the level of the presidents of the republics, who could give the command to continue searching - who of us could go? Seryozhka got me a phone, and I called Kostya Ernst. I called in oblivion for some, in despair, not at all understanding what day of the week, what time. I told him, sobbing, into the phone: “I ask you as a woman, as a wife, as a mother. I'm begging you, help!" And Kostya, we must give him his due, says: “Sveta, I will help. Now the holidays, they will end, and I will do everything in my power. Then it turned out that I called him on the evening of December 31st. But I didn't really understand it then.

Did Ernst help?

Yes. He called me back and said: "January 6 there will be equipment." And the equipment arrived: excavators, tractors, something that was required. Nobody usually talks about it. And he doesn't speak. But it was. I then called him a lot, sometimes directly from the mountain, from there, from Ossetia. And he contacted Shoigu, with other ministers. And they helped, allocated, sent. Divers, speleologists. For some reason he never talks about it. And I've never given an interview before, so no one knows.

- Did you meet him at that time?

He called me immediately when everything happened. I was shocked by what my salary was, influenced it to be raised at least a little so that I could survive. It was impossible to believe it. Very painful. You know, when we brought his personal belongings back then from Ossetia, I sorted them out. - Did you often write to each other?

Yes. We talked on the phone every day, and always wrote, all the time: a note in the kitchen, some kind of short letter. Or long, if apart. When he left, let's say, for "East-West", I wrote letters to him every day and he wrote letters to me every day. And we changed when he came. It's impossible to read now. At first, even getting out of the boxes was impossible. And I still can't read.

I still remember how our computer genius Lesha Bartosh flew to the shooting of "The Last Hero" to take cassettes. Upon learning of this, I immediately dashed off a huge letter to Bodrov. And Lesha flew. He flies back to Moscow and says from the doorway: “Listen, Bodrovs, you are crazy, you can’t do that!” Me: “Lyosha, what happened?” And he: “I came to the“ Last Hero ”, everything is fine, we are sitting, chatting with Bodrov and Kushnerev. And then I remember: “Oh, Seryoga, Sveta gave you a letter.” - “Yes, why are you silent, where is it? Give it back! Couldn't tell before? He grabbed the letter and rode off with it. How did the idea for The Last Hero come about? This is the first such large-scale reality show on Russian television.

The Last Hero had a rating of 50. It seems that this record has not yet been broken. The "last hero" in the form in which he conquered the country was also born in Valentinovka near Kushnerev. I have a picture before my eyes right now: our daughter Olya is quite small, she runs around us in felt boots. And we with two Earrings rested on the screen, we look « Survivor» , which went on the air two years before our "Last Hero", Kushnerev dug up a cassette somewhere on English language: one series, another. Olya is tired of running in these felt boots, the Kushnerev dog, Funtik, is also tired, they are sitting somewhere at our feet, but we can’t take our eyes off. And here, of course, the thought stuck between them and Bodrov: we must do this. Then there was another great idea "The Game of Life", it did not materialize. Although I sorted through the Serezhkin archive, reviewed the cards, I found a directly painted program. There was also the Big Dream project, which was absolutely wonderful; also did not come true.

Kushnerev - probably the first and last Russian producer, who retained the belief that television, touching a person, touching his soul and living with him, is the national idea.

Oh sure. And there is. No wonder one journalist once wrote about “Wait for me”: the nation unites on Mondays - this program had such popularity and such social significance. It's all together: love for people, hard work, sleepless nights and dedication. Who will believe if I say that Kushnerev personally answered the letters that came to "Wait for me"? Sometimes it even pissed me off. Well, imagine, he says to me: “Svetka, there a woman wrote it alone, she asks what kind of music you put on such and such an air. Can you write a name for it, or even better send a track? I say: “Sereg, what are you, stunned, or what? Am I going to shovel all the broadcasts now and send music to everyone who wants to? I’m editing, I have a job.” He raised his head like that, looked at me and said: “Light, this must be done.” He answered letters and complaints. I also remember one story when Seryoga [Bodrov] received a letter from a woman in Vzglyad: “You are the idol of my sons. It so happened that a motorcycle was stolen from the younger one, and the older one was in the army. And the younger one walks around, threatening with his fists: “I’ll tell my brother, he will come and kill everyone for this motorcycle.” The woman writes: “What should I do? That's wrong." Well, Serega read - and read. And Kushnerev says: "We must answer." And Seryozha personally answered this woman, wrote to her, her son.

Probably no one will believe it, but, being the editor-in-chief of Wait for Me, Kushnerev himself edited the releases of the program for all the countries where it was released. I always edited our main, Moscow, release on Channel One, and Serega sat in the neighboring control room and edited for Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Moldova ... He is the editor-in-chief, he could, as is usually the case on television, sit in his office outside the door, they would come in with a knock, and he would run through the layout with his eyes. But Kushnerev was sitting in the editing room and in the control room along with everyone else. And we always ran to each other, discussed something, cursed, yelled at each other.

- Did you quarrel?

Yes. Sometimes they didn't even talk. Then they wrote letters to each other. But he could easily call at three in the morning and start as if after a comma: “Sveta, you know, this is the moment that we doubted, it seems to me that this is how to do it.” And he spoke so calmly, as if he was sure that at that moment I was sitting in front of the telephone receiver and waiting for his call. It has always been that way, all these fourteen years. He left "Wait for me" only once: when "The Last Hero" was being launched.

I remember that time well: 2001. Seryoga [Bodrov] and I have nowhere to live, because we sold our old apartment in Ramenki and went to live in Kudrino, where I got land from my grandparents and I put up a house there, more like a summer one. But there is nothing to do, we moved there together with little Olya, Serezha and Nina Ivanovna, my mother. And then this adventure of theirs, "The Last Hero", is launched. No one understands how it will all end, there is no money, the project is huge. And Kushnerev and I actually sculpt “Wait for me” every week. And then he says: “Svetka, you know, I’m going to the“ Last Hero ”, well, for a couple of weeks, for the launch.” And the fact that Bodrov will lead The Last Hero was not even discussed. It's like it was decided from the very beginning. The two of us came up with an image for him: we ran around buying shirts, figured out how to tie them. We were sick of this idea, as everyone lived in a fever. And in the end we got together in the evening, and Kushnerev told me that he was going to shoot. “But, Svetka, “Wait for me” should come out like clockwork,” she says. “Don’t worry, it’s ten days, a maximum of two weeks, and I’ll be back.” At first, I really didn’t worry: we had filmed material, I’m editing, the program goes on the air. He's gone for a week, ten days. I call: "Are you coming?" - "Yes, yes, yes, I'm literally going." He's gone for two weeks, three. The program comes out, I edit, we go on the air. Again he writes: “Will I stay a little longer?” - "Yes, of course, stay." As a result, he stayed, of course, for the entire term, he could not quit. And “Wait for me” was on me completely, for which he was terribly grateful.

They returned a month and a half later, and Kushnerev again went to the editing of "The Last Hero". And we hardly saw him. Only once he suddenly came (his Valentinovka not far from our Kudrin) from the installation - not to himself, but to us. When I saw him, I said: “Lord! How are you still alive? My mother immediately began to feed him: cabbage soup, cutlets with buckwheat porridge. And he was so tired that he could not even speak, he only repeated: “Oh, how good, how good. Only I have to edit tomorrow at six in the morning, I won’t sleep. ” But somehow we got him down. Morning comes. I get up early. Look - sleep. Then Seryoga [Bodrov] got up, the time was noon. I say: “Go see what's going on with Kushnerev. Sleeping? Don't wake him up. And turn off all the phones, let the person sleep, it’s impossible like that. ” I figured that they still have time before the broadcast, this montage will not go anywhere. In general, he slept for a long time. Out in felt boots on the porch: “Svetka! What is this, really? Bodrov told me - it's already two in the afternoon! I told him: “True. Take it easy. You can do everything." And he suddenly became so pleased that he slept well, that he was with us. We even went somewhere else with Seryoga and Olechka. And then he rushed off to work again. Yes. This is also Kushnerev's unique talent - to make the viewer believe. Just imagine: we are going to the village with Serezha on our huge Land Rover Defender. All traffic police officers along the way already know that this is our car. Kushnerev was always laughing at us: “Why do you need a school bus?” Well, Seryozha liked this military vehicle, wildly cold and uncomfortable. Later, three years after everything that had happened, I rode it, I could not decide to sell it. But then no one knew what would happen. 2001, we are driving, they see us, they slow down Seryoga: “Yeah, Bodrov, so you're not there now? When are you flying back?" He: "I'm not leaving." - “You don’t fly away, then. Then tell me who won? He: “I can’t say, guys, really.” - "We will take away the rights!" - “Well, I can’t, I gave my word.” The next day, everyone is already laughing: “We’ll take away the rights, speak.” Every day they stopped, but Seryoga did not say. He generally had a funny relationship with traffic police officers. Somehow Serega violated something, he is stopped. Let go. People somehow treated our programs with tenderness. Kushnerev in "Wait for me" had established contacts with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, doctors, police, patrols, anyone. Everyone has always been there for us. It was worth saying “Wait for me”, and some kind of magic happened. Everyone helped. Always. Always walked forward. It was in the truest sense of the word people's television. And people felt it and reciprocated. I'm even ashamed to say, Sashka Zhukovsky, the operator, learned a little. - And why did you and Kushnerev leave the program in the fall of 2014?

Because the program has already been taken away from us by this moment.

- How?

There was what I call a raider takeover. The editor-in-chief of the program Yulia Budinaite, whom Kushnerev brought from Komsomolskaya Pravda, and Alexander Lyubimov (after working at the VGTRK and RBC TV in 2014, he returned to VID and took over as president of the company. - Ed.) behind Kushnerev's back, they decided that they would be able to continue the program without him.

- So how? How did it happen?

I have no answer. I can’t say that for Budinaite, just as for me, as for Serezha, “Wait for me” was a matter of a lifetime. She was the editor-in-chief who handed out assignments to reporters but never showed up on set. Why and why she suddenly needed to lead “Wait for me”, why Lyubimov needed it, I don’t know. But it was a conspiracy that Kushnerev knew nothing about until the last moment. They wanted to remove Sergei Anatolyevich from the post of editor-in-chief of the television company, to select the program. This was not easy to do, because Kushnerev had a 25% stake in VID.

- And who had the other 75%?

I don't know the full schedule. But the main stake was owned by Alexander Mikhailovich Lyubimov. And he wanted to become the full owner of the company. I was driving to work when Kushnerev called me: "Sveta, I'm quitting, I have to leave." - "In terms of?" - “I found out that behind my back Sasha Lyubimov wants to put in place the editor-in-chief and head of “Wait for me” Yulia Budinaite. As you understand, I do not consider it possible to remain either in the program or in the television company if such things happen.

- Did Lyubimov and Kushnerev meet?

No. No one met Serezha. His dismissal was accepted. And the issue with the shares was resolved literally before my eyes. We stood with Kushnerev after one of the last shootings in the smoking room. Lyubimov's assistant approached Serezha, handed him a package of documents with the words: "Sign." I wouldn't tell if it didn't happen right in front of me. I ask: "What is it?" No, I didn't give them that opportunity. I wrote a letter of resignation immediately after this conversation with Kushnerev, as soon as I got to work. Did you feel addicted or burned out? For fourteen years on the air?

What do you! We remembered every story, endlessly discussed it all, experienced it. They were always interested in how everything went on there, called, kept in touch. This is not some cold modern approach to television, let's say, technocratic. We lived it. And we thought it would continue. Maybe somehow differently, better, cooler. - Did you find it?

Yes, Katya, we found it.

It was found in Iran. At the time of filming, she was 90 years old. It so happened that the family of the aunt, in which she fell, had no children of her own. And they took this girl away, posing as their daughter, somewhere in Central Asia from there to Turkey. There she married a diplomat and ended up in Iran. And now, you know, I have a picture in front of my eyes, how they approached each other, all very similar, the same height. Embraced. And pressed their heads together, all three of them. The studio is up. Kushnerev and I froze in the control room. I need to switch the buttons on the remote control, and tears drip. They take out a photograph of their only one, where they are all three together. And they say, "Thank you!" - You were not offered to go to the new "Wait for me" on NTV?

No. It's impossible. I know, Masha (Maria Shukshina, hosted "Wait for me" from 2000 to 2014. - Ed.) called, offering to go now to NTV in “Wait for me”. She said that she would only work with the old cast. Now, after all, there are completely new people in the program: excellent editors and correspondents left with us, and the presenters also left. When Sergei Kushnerev died, I thought that the last romantic of our television, who thought about the viewer and loved him, had passed away. And he loved his job not because it was power or money: the man simply loved television.

There are probably no more people who are so “sick” with television. We are some kind of mastodons. We lived it. Bodrov could not watch some of our things, of course, sometimes tears welled up, but he was interested in all the stories. And he took one story about a nurse who was looking for through "Wait for me." I wanted to make the next film after The Messenger: there a nurse hid our wounded in the basement of a village captured by the Germans. The young actors dedicated a performance to him that they played that day. Everyone was there who loved Seryozha.
