Dodi Al-Fayed's personal doctor, who examined Diana after the disaster, admitted that she was pregnant. Princess Diana and her beloved men Princess Diana's last love

The life story of Diana Spencer is shrouded in mysteries, many of which still remain unsolved and cause heated discussions.
The novels of the most popular representative of the British royal family were practically legendary.
The last love of Diana was the son of the Egyptian billionaire Mohammed Al-Fayed Dodi, with whom relations developed rapidly (as if in a crazy fever).

In 1996, Diana began dating Pakistani Hasnat Khan, whom she met at the Royal Hospital in Brompton.

Hasnat Khan

Their relationship lasted about a year and a half.
They say that it was with Hasnat that Diana again thought about the wedding, but the difference in outlook on life still did not allow the couple to build a harmonious relationship.
In 1997, Diana broke up with Khan, and her heart became free again.

Many dreamed of meeting one of the most popular women in the world and the ex-wife of Prince Charles, and therefore Diana had no end of invitations to social events and parties.
Among them was a message from the Egyptian businessman Mohammed Al-Fayed, who invited the princess to visit his apartments in an expensive resort in Saint-Tropez.

The billionaire, of course, intended to pay all the expenses of Diana and her sons - 15-year-old William and 12-year-old Harry.
There were many reasons not to refuse the businessman: a break with Hasnat Khan, still lingering feelings and fears about the divorce from Prince Charles, a desire for radical changes in life.

Diana did not think for long, soon she and her children flew to visit a stranger with a dubious reputation, Al Fayed, and the paparazzi followed her.

Dodi Al Fayed

The reporters were able to take many pictures from Al Fayed's Jonical yacht.

During his stay on the Cote d'Azur, Mohammed introduced the princess to his son Dodi, who was considered by many to be a womanizer and who was credited with an affair with Julia Roberts.

Diana is said to have taken an immediate liking to Dodi.
Judging by the photographs where Diana is relaxed and crazy, the way it is.

Al-Fayed's friends recall that, after the first meeting with Diana on a yacht, he almost immediately decided for himself that not a single other woman who was in his life could even be compared closely with her.
And above all, this concerned the actress Kelly Fisher, with whom Dodi had an affair at that time.
These relationships had to end.

Kelly Fisher

True, for some time, Al-Fayed, according to one of his former assistants, hesitated and simultaneously communicated with two women at once: Fisher was waiting for Dodi in the villa while the heartthrob seduced the unsuspecting Diana on the yacht.

The father forced him to put an end to the romance with the actress Dodi, who insisted that his son leave her as soon as possible (well, of course, such a loon .. what if the fish jumps off the hook. Or game.
Only I think that Diana longed for male love, to be at least needed by someone, she herself threw herself at all the grooms, trainers, Pakistani doctors, that this Dodik would not have gone anywhere)

The paparazzi regularly supplied the tabloids with fresh pictures of Diana and Dodi relaxing together on yachts, and it was al-Fayed who rode with her in the car on that tragic evening of August 31, 1997.

One of the princess's employees, majordomo Rene Delorme, almost ten years after the death of a couple in a car accident, said that al-Fayed intended to propose to Diana: "He showed me a beautiful ring, all in diamonds," Delorme told the British newspaper Daily Express.

Diana belonged to the ancient English family of Spencer-Churchill. At the age of 16, she met the Prince of Wales, Charles. At first, the prince was predicted to be Diana's sister Sarah, but over time, Charles came to the realization that Diana is an incredibly "charming, lively and witty girl with whom it is interesting." Returning from a naval campaign on the ship "Invincible", the prince proposed to her. The wedding took place 6 months later.
In the ceremony, some saw signs of an unhappy marriage.
When pronouncing the marriage vow, Charles got confused in pronunciation, and Diana did not quite correctly name his name. However, at first, peace reigned in the relationship of the spouses.
"I'm crazy about marriage when there is someone to whom you devote your time," Princess Diana wrote after the wedding to her nanny Mary Clark. Soon the couple had two sons: in 1982, Prince William, and in 1984, Prince Henry, better known as Prince Harry. It seemed that everything was going perfectly in the family, but soon rumors about the prince's infidelity and the fact that he often left his young wife alone were leaked to the press. Despite the grievances, Diana, according to her nanny, really loved her husband. “When she married Charles, I remember writing to her that this is the only person in the country with whom she can never divorce. Unfortunately, she could,” recalled Mary Clark. In 1992, a sensational announcement was made in the UK about the separation of Charles and Diana, and in 1996 their marriage was officially annulled. The reason for the separation was the difficult relationship between the spouses. Diana, referring to her husband's longtime close friend Camilla Parker Bowles, said that she could not bear the marriage of three.
The prince himself, according to their mutual acquaintances, never tried to hide his love for Camilla, with whom he began a relationship even before the wedding. Not surprisingly, after the divorce proceedings, the public was on the side of Diana. After a high-profile divorce, her name still did not leave the pages of the press, but it was already another Princess Diana - an independent, business woman, passionate about charitable work. She constantly visited hospitals for AIDS patients, traveled to Africa, to areas where sappers work hard, removing numerous anti-personnel mines from the ground. In the personal life of the princess, too, there have been significant changes. Diana began an affair with Pakistani surgeon Hasnat Khan. They carefully concealed their romance from the press, although Hasnat often lived with her at Kensington Palace, and she stayed for a long time in his apartment in the prestigious Chelsea district of London. Khan's parents were delighted with their son's companion, but he soon told his father that marrying Diana could make his life hell because of the deep cultural differences between them. He claimed that Diana is "independent" and "likes to go out", which for him as a Muslim is unacceptable. Meanwhile, as the close friends of the princess claimed, for the sake of her fiancé she was ready to sacrifice a lot, including changing her faith. Hasnat and Diana broke up in the summer of 1997. According to a close friend of the princess, Diana was "deeply worried and in pain" after the breakup. But after a while, she began an affair with the son of billionaire Mohammed Al-Fayed Dodi. At first, this relationship, according to her friend, served only as a consolation after the break with Hasnat. But soon a dizzying romance broke out between them, it seemed that a worthy and loving man finally appeared in Lady Di's life. The fact that Dodi was also divorced and had a reputation for social red tape, all the more increased interest in him from the press. Diana and Dodi had known each other for several years, but only became close in 1997. In July, they spent holidays in Saint-Tropez with Diana's sons, Princes William and Harry. The boys got along well with the friendly owner of the house. Later, Diana and Dodi met in London, and then went on a Mediterranean cruise aboard the luxury yacht Jonical. Diana loved to give gifts. Dear and not very dear, but always imbued with her unique concern for everyone who surrounded her. She also gave Dodi things that were dear to her. For example, cufflinks that the most beloved person in the world gave her. August 13, 1997 the princess wrote the following words about her gift: "Dear Dodi, these cufflinks were the last gift I received from the person I loved most in the world - my father." “I give them to you because I know how happy he would be if he knew what reliable and special hands they fell into. With love, Diana,” the letter says. In another message from Kensington Palace, dated August 6, 1997, Diana thanks Dodi al-Fayed for a six-day vacation on his yacht, and writes of "endless gratitude for the joy that has been brought into her life." By the end of August, the Jonical approached Portofino in Italy, and then sailed for Sardinia. August 30, Saturday, the couple went to Paris. The next day, Diana was to fly to London to meet her sons on the last day of their summer vacation. Later, Dodi's father stated that his son and Princess Diana were going to get married. A few hours before his death in a car accident in Paris, Dodi al-Faeid visited a jewelry store. Video cameras captured how he chose an engagement ring. Later that day, a representative of the Ritz Hotel in Paris, where Diana and Dodi were staying, came to the store and took two rings. One of them, according to Dodi's father, was called "Dis-moi oui" - "Tell me yes" - worth 11.6 thousand pounds sterling ... On Saturday evening, Diana and Dodi decided to dine at the restaurant of the Ritz Hotel, which he owned Dodi.
In order not to attract the attention of other visitors, they retired to a separate office, where, as it was later reported, they exchanged gifts: Diana gave Dodi cufflinks, and he gave her a diamond ring. At one o'clock in the morning they were going to go to Dodi's apartment on the Champs Elysees. Wanting to avoid the paparazzi crowding the front door, the happy couple took advantage of a special elevator located next to the hotel's service exits.
There they boarded a Mercedes S-280, accompanied by bodyguard Trevor-Reese Jones and driver Henri Paul. The details of what happened a few minutes later are still not clear enough, but the terrible truth is that three of these four died in an accident that took place in an underground tunnel under Place Delalma. It was not without difficulty that Princess Diana was removed from the wrecked car, after which she was immediately sent to the Piti Salptrrier hospital. The fight of doctors for her life was inconclusive. The accident that happened on the night of August 31, 1997 in the Alma tunnel in Paris is the result of the flagrant negligence of a car driver who got behind the wheel while intoxicated and drove a Mercedes at an unacceptably high speed. The provocateur of this accident was also the pursuit of the car of the princess by a group of paparazzi photographers. It was an accidental death. This is the verdict of the jury at the semi-annual trial in the High Court of London, which ended on Monday evening. This verdict is final and not subject to appeal. The longest and most intense process in the history of British justice, I would like to believe, put all the points over the "i". In the more than ten years that have passed since the death of the "People's Princess", there have been about 155 statements about the existence of a conspiracy to kill Lady Dee. The leading fiddle in defending this version has been played all these years by the most, perhaps, offended defendant in this case - billionaire Mohammed Al-Fayed, owner of the largest London department store Harrods, the Fulham football club and the Ritz hotel in Paris, the father of the deceased in this accident Dodi. He literally declared "war" on the British royal family and publicly called the instigator of the conspiracy to kill the son and princess of the queen's husband, the Duke of Edinburgh. The executor is the British intelligence services. It was Mohammed Al-Fayed who insisted on holding a trial with a jury, it was he who stubbornly demanded that the Duke of Edinburgh and Diana's sons, Princes William and Harry, appear in court. The royal family was not summoned to court. British democracy, for all its admirable maturity, is not yet mature enough to issue subpoenas to its monarchs. Only the press secretary of the Duke of Edinburgh appeared at the trial, presenting to the investigation a hitherto unpublished, touching in its warmth correspondence between Diana and her father-in-law. About 260 witnesses appeared at the trial of the death of Diana and Dodi. Testimony was given via video link from the United States, France and Australia. The titled ladies of the court, friends of Diana, testified. Her butler Paul Burrell, who made a considerable fortune for himself on fictions about the princess. Her lovers, who revealed to the whole world the details of their romance with the princess. The sole survivor of the accident, severely maimed bodyguard Trevor Rees-Jones. The pathologist who performed the autopsy on Diana and confirmed in court that no signs of the princess's pregnancy were found, but that it was not possible to detect them in a very short time. And so, Diana took this secret with her to the grave. Mohammed al-Fayed unveiled a monument to his son Dodi and Princess Diana at his London department store Harrods. The opening of the new monument is timed to coincide with the eighth anniversary of the death of Dodi and Diana in a car accident, reports the Guardian. The bronze Diana and Dodi are depicted dancing against the backdrop of waves and the wings of an albatross, symbolizing eternity and freedom. According to Mohammed al-Fayed, this monument looks like a more appropriate sign of memory than the memorial fountain in Hyde Park. The sculpture was sculpted by Bill Mitchell, an artist who has worked for al-Fayd for forty years. At the opening of the monument, Mohammed al-Fayed said that he called this sculptural group "Innocent Victims". He believes that Dodi and Diana died in a staged car crash, their untimely deaths being the result of a murder. "The monument has been erected here forever. Nothing has been done so far to perpetuate the memory of this amazing woman who brought joy to the world," said al-Fayed.

Recently there was a post about the girlfriends of Prince Charles, and in order not to get up twice, I will make a post about the "friends" of Princess Diana.

1. Prince of Wales, aka Charles, aka Charles, aka husband. Relations from 1980 to 1996

We all know this story.
2. James Hewitt. The one who was credited with Harry's paternity. Tin. Relations in 1982-1987 (claims to have been since 1985) British Army officer. From an interview with Larry King "I met Princess Diana at a polo match in Tivort, shortly before her marriage. Oh, how long ago that was! in 1985. Our love affair began about six or seven months later. We met at parties, and one day she said that she wanted to take riding lessons. She really liked horse riding, and she asked me if I could take her by the hand and restore the skills she lost since childhood."
Apparently, he has never been married. In 1994, he wrote the book Princess in Love, and in 1999, the memoir Love and War, which tells about the Gulf War and his relationship with Diana. In December 2002, Hewitt announced his intention to sell 64 love letters Diana sent him in 1990-91 for £10m.

3. Oliver Hoare. Relations 1991-1994 Millionaire, art dealer, married. Screwed from Diana, so she became too intrusive and jealous. Oliver did not like this, since he was married. Friend of Prince Charles.
in the background Oliver and his wife

4. James Gilbey. Relations from 1992 to 1993 Car dealer. Somewhere it is mentioned that they allegedly met back in the 70s. Gilby is the hero of that very scandal. We are talking about the conversations that went down in history as "Squiggiegate tapes" and took place when Diana was visiting the royal estate of Sandringham. The scandal that erupted after their publication was called Squidgygate, which combined the affectionate nickname "squid", sounded in these conversations, and the word "watergate". Naively believing that no one was following their conversations, the princess and her friend were not shy in their expressions. In particular, James Gilbey called Lady Dee affectionate words and told her: "I love you."

4. Theodor Forstmann. Relations 1994-1995 American billionaire and philanthropist Now deceased. Forstmann never married. The media has repeatedly linked him with Indian TV presenter and actress Padma Lakshmi. There is also evidence of a relationship between Forstmann and Princess Diana.

5. John Kennedy Jr. Son of John F. Kennedy. He died in 1999. He was married in 1996-1999. Relations - 1995 according to rumors. Maybe a couple of times where they met. One of the close friends of Princess Simone Simmons in her book "Diana: The Last Word" described IT like this: Diana studied **** with John F. Kennedy Jr. in the very New York hotel in which he father once secretly met with Marilyn Monroe. According to the princess, the affair with Kennedy was "*****". **** The ability of the son of the legendary American president was rated by the British princess as "ten points out of ten". Diana told her close friend that in her dreams she imagined herself as the "First Lady of the United States".

6. Will Carling Relations -1995 The former captain of the England rugby team, an outstanding athlete, taught the princes how to play rugby in 1993. The British carried Carling in their arms, set him as an example. It is no coincidence that Will was introduced to the royal family. And the fact that his relationship with Lady Diana "are too frank" was reported not only by tabloid newspapers, but also by decent publications. From an interview with Dmitry Tarasov "Probably you want to ask a question related to Princess Diana? So? At one time so much was written about us in the newspapers ... I will only say one thing:" She is my friend. "And I was very inspired by her presence at the matches. Lady Diana understood rugby very well." "Understood rugby" is strong. Currently, Will Carling is still active. He works in television and often appears in various TV projects. Will has a family with whom the former rugby player prefers to spend all his free time.

with his wife
7. Barry Mannaki. Diana's bodyguard. And, according to eyewitnesses, "her main comforter. Died in 1987. Barry Mannaki died when the motorcycle in the back seat of which he was riding crashed into a car. Princess Diana, judging by an interview recorded more than 20 years ago, is sure that this tragedy was not random.
"He was finished off. But what can we say now," she sighs.

8. Hasnat Khan. Relations from 1996 to 1997 Loud romance. Even the film was released in 2013 (one of the variations on the theme of their relationship). Surgeon. Diana was in love like a cat, so much so that she wanted to marry him and seriously considered moving to Pakistan for Hasnat. Diana was desperate to impress Khan's relatives, especially his mother. But despite her aristocratic origin, Princess Diana could hardly have become Khan's wife. As a Muslim, he poorly represented Diana as his wife. It is not known who left whom: either Khan because of Diana's growing demands (wedding-children), or Diana because she met Dodi, or because Khan refused to satisfy the growing demands.

8. Dodi Al-Fayed. Relationships 1997. Maybe 1996 is the same. Again, we all know this story as well.

Five years after the tragedy that broke out in the Alma tunnel in Paris, doctors, servants of Themis, and intelligence agents begin to speak. And they say that Princess Diana of Wales died along with her ... unborn child.

While talking on the phone, Lady Dee could shout into the phone: “Guys, change the tape - this one, in my opinion, has already ended!”

In early 1997, Princess Diana accepted the invitation of the Egyptian billionaire Mohammed Al-Fayed and, together with her sons, went to rest on his yacht, and then to his estate on the Cote d'Azur. Soon the son of the millionaire Dodi appeared there. Photojournalists, as always, followed every step of the princess.

You will be surprised at what I will do in the near future, - Diana told reporters and on July 20 accepted Dodi's invitation to go on a boat trip with him without her father. She was already in love with Dodi, and he reciprocated her.

At that time, the princess developed a warm relationship with Franco Gelli, the vicar of the Anglican Church, located near Kensington Palace, where she lived with her sons. Diana often came to the service, talked for a long time with Franco, and once asked him how Muslims treat their wives. After some time, the princess admitted that she met an extraordinary person who surrounded her with love and care, which she had never had before. In addition, he gets along well with William and Harry, which was especially important for Diana. “Diana was so happy, so in love,” says Franco Gelli. “When she talked about her lover, a warm smile appeared on her face.”

Once, while saying goodbye to the vicar, Diana asked if two people of different faiths could marry. And then she asked if he could marry them if she wanted to get married ... Then the vicar took her words as a joke.

A few days later, already on board the yacht, Lady Dee called her confessor.

Diana said she had great news, Gelli recalls, and asked me to come to Kensington Palace as soon as she returned to England.

Alas, the vicar did not have a chance to find out what the princess wanted to tell him about so important ... A week later, Diana had a car accident and died in a Paris clinic.

Lady Di knew that British intelligence agents were watching her, and her phone was constantly tapped. Sometimes, talking on the phone with a friend, she could scream into the phone: “Hey guys, change the tape, otherwise this one seems to be over!”.

However, the princess did not even suspect that, in addition to the British, American intelligence was also interested in her. Only after the death of Diana did it become known that records of her telephone conversations were in the overseas archives. She was followed by the CIA and the NSA (National Secret Agency). Bugs were placed everywhere, including in her computer and bed. Diana's every step, her every word was recorded. After the August tragedy, Dodi's father, Mohammed Al-Fayed, sought to have these documents declassified. But he was refused, citing the fact that this could threaten the security of the United States. Somewhat later, the reputable British newspaper The Guardian joined the NSA with a request to allow journalists to the “Princess Diana case”. But she was also refused. Did the archives really contain explosive material?

Scientists say that no study will show whether Diana was expecting a baby

According to British reporter, writer and intelligence specialist Gordon Thomas, the secret services have a recording of the conversation between Diana and Dodi, made on their last night, as well as Dodi's conversation with his father, during which he admitted that Diana was expecting a baby.

Thomas received confirmation of the existence of these records from one of the NSA agencies in June 2002 and published information about this in the British Sunday Express. According to him, the records contain indisputable evidence that in July 1997, Princess Diana was pregnant.

Mohammed Al-Fayed spoke about this immediately after the death of his son and Lady Dee. But no one took his words seriously. Only a few tried to get to the bottom of the truth. One of them was American reporter James Keith. He followed in the footsteps of an article published on September 8, 1997 in Time magazine, which quoted the words of a French emergency doctor who spoke to a journalist a few hours after Diana's death. Before he began to save the princess, one of his colleagues told him that Diana came to her senses for a moment, and the moment he touched her belly, she whispered, "I'm pregnant."

After the publication of this text, the doctor refused to communicate with any of the journalists, saying that he would only talk with Diana's family. James Keith got hold of evidence supporting that conversation in the Paris hospital. “In 1998, I was able to contact a man who was friends with Dodi Al Fayed's personal physician,” Keith wrote. “The doctor admitted that he examined Princess Diana and found that she was pregnant.” The reporter was able to collect other data regarding the tragic death of Diana on August 31, 1997. But he did not have time to publish them - on September 7, 1999, he died during an operation ... on his knee joint.

I have a feeling I won't get out of here,” he told his friend Ken Thomas before the operation. And I wasn't wrong.

And a few hours after the journalist's death, all information related to the death of Princess Diana disappeared from his computer.

In the near future, the investigation into the death of Lady Dee will be resumed. However, scientists argue that the autopsy will not give anything, since Diana's body was hastily embalmed, and therefore it is impossible to conduct reliable research. No testing will show if the princess was actually pregnant.

Despite this, neither Dodi's father nor the journalists stop seeking the truth. J. Steinberg, a correspondent for the Executive Intelligence Review, however, doubts that the results of the studies carried out immediately after the tragedy in Paris will ever see the light of day. And yet, he managed to get to some documents.

“In April 2000, the lawyers of Mohammed Al-Fayed,” writes Jeffrey Steinberg, “came into the hands of two French pathologists working on behalf of Judge Stephen and collaborating with him from the British. This note said that the British authorities were pressuring them to withhold some of the results of the autopsy.

In turn, Scott Maclid and Thomas Sancton from Time Magazine claim that some of the documents have disappeared, including those that could confirm Diana's pregnancy, writes the Polish weekly Gala. Evidence can only be found in the archives of the CIA and the NSA. However, neither the American nor the British intelligence agencies respond to any requests. The royal family is also silent. And only Diana's mother asks that her daughter be finally left alone.

Diana Spencer is one of the most famous women of the twentieth century, whose tragic fate left a mark on the hearts of her contemporaries. Having become the wife of the heir to the royal throne, she faced betrayal and betrayal and was not afraid to expose the hypocrisy and cruelty of the British monarchy to the world.

The tragic death of Diana was perceived by many as a personal tragedy, a huge number of books, films and musical works are dedicated to her. Why Princess Diana was so popular among the common people, we will try to understand this material.

Childhood and family

Diana Francis Spencer is a representative of an old aristocratic dynasty, the founders of which were the descendants of Kings Charles II and James II. The Duke of Marlborough, Winston Churchill and many other famous Englishmen belonged to her noble family. Her father, John Spencer, held the title of Viscount Eltrop. The mother of the future princess, Frances Ruth (née Roche), was also of noble birth - her father was a baron, and her mother was a confidant and maid of honor of Queen Elizabeth.

Diana became the third girl in the Spencer family, she has two older sisters - Sarah (1955) and Jane (1957). A year before her birth, a tragedy occurred in the family - a boy born on January 12, 1960 died ten hours after birth. This event seriously affected the already less than ideal relationship between the parents, and the birth of Diana could no longer correct this situation. In May 1964, the long-awaited heir Charles was born to the Spencer couple, but their marriage was already bursting at the seams, his father spent all his time hunting and playing cricket, and his mother got a lover.

Diana from early childhood felt like an unnecessary and unloved child, deprived of attention and love. Neither mother nor father ever said simple words to her: "We love you." The divorce of her parents was a shock for an eight-year-old girl, her heart was torn between her father and mother, who no longer wanted to live as one family. Francis left the children to her husband and left with her new chosen one for Scotland, the next meeting of Diana with her mother took place only at the wedding ceremony with Prince Charles.

In early childhood, Diana was brought up and educated by governesses and home teachers. In 1968, the girl was sent to the prestigious West Hill Private School, where her older sisters were already studying. Diana loved to dance, drew beautifully, went in for swimming, but the rest of the subjects were given to her with difficulty. She failed her final exams and was left without a matriculation certificate. School failures were due more to lack of self-confidence and low self-esteem than to low intellectual ability.

In 1975, John Spencer inherited the title of earl from his deceased father, and a year later he married Raine, Countess of Dartmouth. The children disliked their stepmother, boycotted her and refused to sit at the same table. Only after the death of her father in 1992, Diana changed her attitude towards this woman and began to warmly communicate with her.

In 1977, the future princess went to Switzerland to continue her education. Homesickness forced her to return without graduating from an educational institution. The girl moved to London and got a job.

In English aristocratic families, it is customary for grown-up children to work on an equal footing with ordinary citizens, so Diana, despite her noble birth, worked as a teacher in the Young England kindergarten, which still exists in the respectable London district of Pimlico and is proud of its connection with the royal family .

She lived in a small apartment given to her by her father as an adult, and led the usual way of life for English youth. At the same time, she was a modest and well-mannered girl, shunned noisy London parties with marijuana and alcohol, and did not start serious novels.

Meeting Prince Charles

Diana's first meeting with Prince Charles took place in 1977 at the Spencer family estate in Althorp. The heir to the British crown then met with her older sister Sarah, the girl was even invited to the palace, which indicated serious plans for her. However, Sarah did not burn with the desire to become a princess, she did not hide her passion for alcohol, because of which she was expelled from school, and hinted at infertility.

The queen was not satisfied with this state of affairs, and she began to consider Diana as a possible bride for her son. And Sarah happily married a calm, reliable man with a wonderful sense of humor, bore him three children and lived a happy family life.

The queen's desire to marry her son as soon as possible was caused by his relationship with Camilla Shand, a smart, energetic and sexy blonde, but not well-born enough to become the heir to the throne. And Charles liked such women: experienced, sophisticated and ready to carry him in their arms. Camilla was also not averse to becoming a member of the royal family, however, as a smart woman, she had a fallback in the person of officer Andrew Parker-Bowles. But the heart of Andrew for a long time was occupied by Princess Anna, Charles's sister.

The marriage of Camilla and Bowles became a solution to two problems for the royal family at once - at that time Charles served in the Navy, and when he returned, he met his beloved already in the status of a married lady. This did not prevent them from continuing their love relationship, which did not stop with the advent of Lady Diana in the life of Prince. Looking ahead, we add that eight years after the death of Lady Spencer, the prince married Camilla.

Diana, on the other hand, was a modest pretty girl without a train of scandals and with an excellent pedigree - an excellent match for the future heir to the throne. The queen persistently suggested that her son pay attention to her, and Camilla was not against the marriage of her lover to a young, inexperienced lady who did not pose any threat to her. Submitting to the will of his mother and realizing his duty to the dynasty, the prince invited Diana, first to the royal yacht, and then to the palace, where, in the presence of members of the royal family, he proposed to her.

The official announcement of the engagement took place on February 24, 1981. Lady Dee showed the public a luxurious sapphire and diamond ring, which now adorns the finger of Kate Middleton, the wife of her eldest son.

After the engagement, Diana left her job as a teacher and moved first to the royal residence in Westminster, and then to Buckingham Palace. It was an unpleasant surprise for her that the prince lived in separate apartments, continued to lead his usual way of life and rarely spoiled the bride with attention.

The coldness and aloofness of the royal family negatively affected Diana's psyche, childhood fears and insecurities returned to her, and bulimia attacks became more frequent. Before the wedding, the girl lost 12 kilograms, her wedding dress had to be sutured several times. She felt like a stranger in the royal palace, it was difficult for her to get used to the new rules, and the environment seemed cold and hostile.

On July 29, 1981, a magnificent wedding ceremony took place, which was seen on television screens by about a million people. Another 600,000 spectators greeted the wedding procession on the streets of London, all the way to St. Paul's Cathedral. On that day, the territory of Westminster Abbey barely accommodated everyone who wanted to take part in this historic event.

Princess Diana's wedding. Chronicles

There were some incidents - a luxurious taffeta dress was badly wrinkled during a ride in a horse-drawn carriage and did not look the best. In addition, the bride, during the traditional speech at the altar, mixed up the order of the names of Prince Charles, which violated etiquette, and also did not swear to her future husband in eternal obedience. The royal press attachés pretended it was meant to be, permanently changing the text of the wedding vow for members of the British court.

Birth of heirs and problems in family life

After a solemn reception at Buckingham Palace, the newlyweds retired to the Broadlands estate, from where a few days later they went on a wedding cruise in the Mediterranean. When they returned, they settled at Kensington Palace in west London. The prince returned to his usual way of life, and Diana began to expect the appearance of her first child.

Officially, the pregnancy of the Princess of Wales was announced on November 5, 1981, this news caused rejoicing in English society, people were eager to see the heir to the royal dynasty.

Diana spent almost the entire pregnancy in the palace, gloomy and deserted. She was surrounded only by doctors and servants, her husband rarely went into her chambers, and the princess suspected something was wrong. She soon found out about his ongoing relationship with Camilla, which Charles did not even try to hide very much. The betrayal of her husband oppressed the princess, she suffered from jealousy and self-doubt, was almost always sad and depressed.

The birth of the first-born William (06/21/1982) and the second son Harry (09/15/1984) did not change anything in their relationship. Charles still sought comfort in the arms of his mistress, and Lady Di shed bitter tears, suffered from depression and bulimia, and drank handfuls of sedative pills.

The intimate life of the spouses practically came to naught, and the princess had no choice but to find herself another man. They became Captain James Hewitt, a former military man, courageous and sexy. In order to have a reason to see him without arousing suspicion, Diana began to take riding lessons.

James gave her what a woman could not get from her own husband - love, care and the joy of physical intimacy. Their romance lasted nine years, it became known in 1992 from the book Diana: Her True Story by Andrew Morton. Around the same time, records of intimate conversations between Charles and Camilla were made public, which inevitably led to a scandal in the royal family.

Diana and Charles divorce

The reputation of the British monarchy was under serious threat, protest moods were ripening in society, and it was necessary to urgently solve this problem. The situation was aggravated by the fact that Diana, in a little over ten years, became the darling of not only the British people, but also the world community, so many stood up for her and accused Charles of misbehavior.

At first, Diana's popularity played into the hands of the royal court. She was called the "queen of hearts", "the sun of Britain" and "the people's princess" and put on a par with Jacqueline Kennedy, Elizabeth Taylor and other great women of the twentieth century.

But over time, this universal love finally destroyed the marriage of Charles and Diana - the prince became jealous of his wife for her fame, and Lady Di, feeling the support of millions, began to boldly and confidently declare her rights. She decided to demonstrate to the whole world evidence of her husband's infidelities, told her story on a tape recorder and handed over the recordings to the press.

After that, Queen Elizabeth disliked Princess Diana, but the royal family could not stay away from the scandal, and on December 9, 1992, Prime Minister John Major officially announced the decision of Diana and Charles to live separately.

In November 1995, Lady Dee gave the BBC a sensational interview in which she spoke in detail about her suffering caused by her husband's infidelities, palace intrigues and other unworthy acts of members of the royal family.

Candid interview with Princess Diana (1995)

Charles responded by portraying her as a psychopath and hysterical and demanded an official divorce. The queen supported her son, appointed her former daughter-in-law a generous allowance, but deprived her of the title of Your Royal Highness. On August 28, 1996, the divorce proceedings were completed, and Diana again became a free woman.

last years of life

After her divorce from Charles, Lady Dee tried to arrange her personal life again in order to finally find female happiness. By that time, she had already parted with James Hewitt, suspecting him of hypocrisy and greed.

Diana really wanted to believe that men love her not only for her title, but also for her personal qualities, and Pakistani cardiac surgeon Hasnat Khan seemed to her like that. She fell in love with him without looking back, met his parents and even covered her head as a sign of respect for Muslim traditions.

It seemed to her that it was in the Islamic world that a woman is protected and surrounded by love and care, and this was exactly what she was looking for all her life. However, Dr. Khan understood that next to such a woman he would always be forced to remain on the sidelines, and was in no hurry with a marriage proposal.

In the summer of 1997, Diana accepted the invitation of the Egyptian billionaire Mohammed al-Fayed to relax on his yacht. An influential businessman, the owner of luxury real estate in London, wanted to get to know such a popular person better.

So that Diana would not be bored, he invited his son, film producer Dodi al-Fayed, to the yacht. Lady Dee at first considered this trip as a way to arouse jealousy in Dr. Khan, but she herself did not notice how she fell in love with the charming and courteous Dodi.

Tragic death of Princess Diana

On August 31, 1997, Lady Dee and her new lover died in a fatal accident in the center of Paris. Their car crashed into one of the pillars of the underground tunnel at breakneck speed, Dodi and driver Henri Paul died on the spot, and the princess died two hours later at the Salpêtrière clinic.

In the blood of the driver, they found an alcohol content several times higher than the permissible norm, in addition, the car was moving at great speed, trying to break away from the paparazzi chasing him.

The death of Diana was a huge shock to the world community and caused a lot of rumors and speculation. Many blamed the royal family for the death of the princess, believing that the British intelligence services set up this accident. Information appeared in the press that a man on a motorcycle blinded the driver with a laser in order to avoid Diana's pregnancy from a Muslim and the subsequent scandal. However, all this is from the field of conspiracy theories.

Funeral of Princess Diana

All of England mourned the death of the "People's Princess", because before that, not a single person of royal blood had been so loved by the common people. Under pressure from the public, Elizabeth was forced to interrupt her vacation in Scotland and give her former daughter-in-law the necessary honors.

Diana was buried on September 6, 1997 at the Spencer family estate in Althorp, Northamptonshire. Her grave is hidden from prying eyes on a secluded island in the middle of the lake, access to it is limited. Those wishing to honor the memory of the "People's Princess" can visit the memorial located near the burial place.

Reasons for universal love

Princess Diana enjoyed the support of the British, not only because she gave birth to two heirs and dared to publicize the vices of the crown prince. In many ways, this is the result of her charitable work.

For example, Diana became one of the first famous people to talk about the problem of AIDS. The disease was discovered in the early 80s, and even ten years later, little was known about the virus and how it spread. Not all doctors dared to contact those infected with HIV, fearing to catch a deadly disease.

But Diana was not afraid. She visited AIDS treatment centers without a mask and gloves, shook hands with the sick, sat on their bed, asked about their families, hugged and kissed. “HIV does not turn people into danger. You can shake hands with them and hug them, because only God knows how much they need it, ”the princess called.

Traveling around third world countries, Diana communicated with patients with leprosy: “When I met them, I always tried to touch them, hug them, to show that they are not outcasts, not outcasts.”

Having visited Angola in 1997 (there was a civil war going on there at that time), Diana walked through a field that had just been cleared of mines. No one guaranteed complete security - the likelihood that mines remained in the ground was very high. Returning to Britain, Diana launched an anti-mine campaign, urging the army to abandon this type of weapon. “Angola has the highest percentage of amputees. Think about it: one out of 333 Angolans lost a limb to mines.”

During her lifetime, Diana did not achieve "deminization", but her son, Prince Harry, continues her work. He is a patron of The HALO Trust, a charitable organization whose goal is to free the world from mines by 2025, that is, to neutralize all old shells and stop the production of new ones. Volunteers cleared mines in Chechnya, Kosovo, Abkhazia, Ukraine, Angola, Afghanistan.

In her native London, the princess regularly visited centers for the homeless and took Harry and William with her so that they could see the other side of life with their own eyes and learn compassion. Later, Prince William claimed that these visits were a revelation for him and he is grateful to his mother for this opportunity. After Diana's death, he became a patron of the charities she had previously supported.

At least three times a week, she went to children's hospices, where they kept children dying from oncology. Diana spent at least four hours with them. “Some will survive, others will die, but as long as they are alive, they need love. And I will love them,” said the princess.

Diana changed the face of the British monarchy. If earlier they were associated among the common people with yet another suffocating measures like raising taxes, then after her actions, as well as a 1995 BBC interview (“I would like monarchs to have more contact with the people”), the monarchy turned into a defender of the disadvantaged. After the tragic death of Lady Dee, her mission continued.
