Igor Ashurbeyli is a scientist. Denunciation as self-defense? Opponents of Igor Ashurbeyli use inaccurate data. Scientific career of Igor Ashurbeyli

Igor Raufovich Ashurbeyli - a famous scientist, industrialist, public figure, philanthropist, creator of the unique space state "Asgardia".

Childhood and family

Born on February 9, 1963 in Baku (Azerbaijan SSR). On the paternal line, his family goes back to Ashur Khan Afshar, cousin of the Persian ruler Nadir Shah (1688-1747). After the accession of Azerbaijan to Russian Empire descendants of Ashur Khan received titles of nobility. Maternal ancestors - Rezanovs, peasants from the village of Khirino, Nizhny Novgorod province, Arzamas district.

The father of Igor Raufovich Ashurbeyli worked at the Azerbaijan Institute of Petrochemical Processes (headed the department), and his mother held the position of a metrology engineer at the Institute space research.

With young years the boy was drawn to knowledge and showed extraordinary abilities in his studies. Among his favorite childhood pastimes are books (he learned to read at the age of five) and chess. No wonder his peers called him "Professor". In the fourth grade, he told his parents that he wanted to be the director of a collective farm, because it would be possible to work there in the summer and devote the winter to reading and traveling.

In 1980, Igor Raufovich Ashurbeyli said goodbye to the school. In that edition, he became the only gold medalist. And then - another serious exam: admission to the Azerbaijan Institute of Oil and Chemistry. There was something to worry about: 16 applicants applied for one place. But Ashurbeyli easily passed through the sieve of competitive selection. To the pride of his relatives, he became a student of the new and very fashionable faculty of automation. production processes.

By the way, for the rest of his life, he never regretted that he received a diploma in systems engineering. The knowledge gained subsequently helped him in business more than once. In 1983, Igor Raufovich Ashurbeyli got married, and a year later he and his wife Victoria had a son, Ruslan.

The year 1985 was marked by the defense of the diploma of a systems engineer, after which the inevitable distribution followed. young specialist sent to gain experience in the All-Union Research Institute for Gas Processing.

Scientific career of Igor Ashurbeyli

In 1988, Igor Raufovich Ashurbeyli decided to create the Sotsium cooperative, the main activities of which were consulting services, development software, as well as the release of methodological literature. With light hand founder at the "Socium" computer literacy training courses were opened, which were a huge success among Baku residents.

But the young cooperator did not forget about science either. He continued to study at the graduate school of the Azerbaijan Petrochemical Institute, where he entered in 1987, published in scientific journals participated in seminars and conferences.

1989 brought with it big changes- our hero moved to live in Moscow. Soon he entered the presidium of the Union of United Cooperatives of the USSR. In 1992, he completed and successfully defended his PhD thesis.

1994 was a fateful year - Igor Raufovich Ashurbeyli was invited to NPO Almaz, offering to test himself in the role of an anti-crisis manager. The enterprise needed a person who would understand both the laws of the market and the mechanisms of business development in the new conditions for the country. The accounts payable of Almaz at that time amounted to 160 billion rubles.

At first, Ashurbeyli, who was appointed deputy general director for foreign economic and commercial activities, thought that he would work here for about six months - this would be enough to sort out the problems and outline ways out of the crisis. But after six months, he realized that he had fallen in love with his subordinates and with the work that they did every day for the good of their homeland.

Over the next six years, Igor Raufovich Ashurbeyli, working in various senior positions, managed to carry out a comprehensive improvement of the enterprise - both scientific and technical, and organizational and financial. In 1997, he joined the Almaz Board of Directors. His anti-crisis plan bore fruit - by 2002, the company had fully paid off its debts and began to make a profit, firmly settling in the position of one of the leaders of the domestic defense industry.

The year 2000 set new ambitious tasks for Igor Raufovich, which he began to solve as the General Director of NPO Almaz. He served as CEO of the company until 2011. It was a time of great victories and achievements.

Thanks to the Almazovites, unique systems appeared in the arsenal of our army. Among the developments of the team are the most powerful anti-aircraft systems"Vityaz", "Morpheus", "Favorite", "Triumph", etc.

Excellent results have also been achieved in foreign economic activity. Thus, the enterprise exported several dozen divisions of a number of air defense systems for a fantastic amount - over $4 billion.

The General Director managed to resolve the issue of rejuvenating the team and attracting new personnel, to increase the average salary of employees 12 times. The company's revenue has grown almost 50 times over 11 years. Under the leadership of Ashurbeyli, several leading development companies were added to the enterprise, whose products were focused on different kinds troops (land, space, navy). These are NIEMI, MNIIPA, MNIIRE Altair and NIIRP.

Vladimir Putin and Igor Ashurbeyli at MIPT

At first, the implementation of this idea seemed impossible, but thanks to the will, perseverance and organizational abilities of Igor Raufovich Ashurbeyli, the unification, later called historical, nevertheless happened.

In 2011, Igor Raufovich Ashurbeyli returned to his long-standing unfulfilled dream and successfully defended his now doctoral dissertation. All members of the commission were unanimous - the applicant was more than worthy of a doctorate degree technical sciences.

Igor Ashurbeyli today. Asgardia

Today, Igor Raufovich Ashurbeyli is still the head of the Sotsium company, which has managed to turn into a holding over the years. great place his life is occupied by charity, including the construction and restoration of Orthodox churches.

Igor Raufovich Ashurbeyli is a deeply religious person. In 2015, he became director of the Imperial Orthodox Palestinian Society. He treated this appointment with particular trepidation.

Interview with Igor Ashurbeyli

Igor Raufovich Ashurbeyli is a full member of the Academy of Military Sciences. He cooperates with the International Center for Aerospace Research as a scientific adviser, takes part - as editor-in-chief - in the issue of the magazine "Room", dedicated to the problems of space warfare, chairs the international commission UNESCO on Space (since 2015).

His services to the fatherland are marked by numerous state awards.

In October 2016, Igor Raufovich Ashurbeyli spoke about his new project, which someone might consider unusual. However, it is for such projects, according to its creator, the future. It's about about "Asgardia" - the first space state in the history of our planet. The mission of Asgardia is to promote the peaceful exploration of outer space, use its resources and opportunities for the benefit of mankind. In addition, one of the most important goals is to protect the Earth from space threats.

Igor Ashurbeyli's appeal to the Asgardians

Igor Raufovich Ashurbeyli is an outstanding personality in all respects, one of a kind. Internet is crowded various information about him, for the most part positive and curious. He is known not only in our country. Moreover, abroad his authority is growing rapidly. Not surprising. He founded the first Space State on our planet, the interest in which just rolls over. So who is he, Igor Ashurbeyli, who at the end of the twentieth century actually saved air defense Russia, and at the beginning of the 21st century turned its eyes to the Universe?

Igor Raufovich, today everyone has heard about the S-400 anti-aircraft missile system. She is recognized as the best in the world. It is no coincidence that the United States even imposed sanctions on China for buying “four hundred” from Russia. However, few people know that this system was born solely thanks to your organizational skills and the fact that you appeared, as it turned out, at the right time in the right place. Tell us how the S-400 system was created?

Igor Ashurbeyli: A full answer to this question will be too voluminous, and besides, abounding in information that is not subject to disclosure. I'll tell you the point.

In 2000, I became the general director of the Almaz Central Design Bureau, an open joint-stock company, in which the state owned a controlling stake. It was Almaz that, since 1947, has been designing anti-aircraft missile systems, which formed the basis of the air defense and missile defense of the country. And the “four hundred” by 2000 existed in the form of a preliminary design, nothing more.

Real funding was opened under my pressure only in 2000. And already in 2007, the system, which had passed the entire cycle of state tests, was put into service.

I will voice a figure that can be considered sensational. The development of the "four hundred" cost Russia only about 170 million US dollars at the equivalent of the exchange rate of that time. And launch in mass production we generally carried out with our own extrabudgetary funds. According to the "price-quality" criterion, the implementation of the S-400 project has no analogues in the world and, I am sure, will not have any in the near future. For example, the development of the American Patriot cost the Pentagon billions of dollars.

Separately, I note that no government awards for the fact that the Scientific and Production Association "Almaz" headed by me for 7 years made the S-400 system, I did not receive. The Order of Honor and the title of Laureate of the Government Prize in the field of science and technology were presented on completely different occasions.

During my leadership, the capitalization of Almaz increased 37 times.

Igor Raufovich Ashurbeyli

Isn't this connected with the fact that in a number of publications you were accused of plundering, one might say, "socialist property"? Like, you infiltrated Almaz - a sort of diamond of the Russian defense industry, privatized it, torn it apart in your own interests, putting the development and production of air defense systems on the brink of complete collapse. Is it so? Tell me honestly, how did you end up in the walls of the Almaz Central Design Bureau?

Igor Ashurbeyli: Everything you said was exactly the opposite. I'll tell you how it really happened. First, all these slanderous "accusations" miraculously began only in 2011, when I was already relieved of my post, and not earlier, although the alleged actions took place in 1999. But first things first.

I joined the Almaz State Research and Production Association in 1991. Then I was the initiator of the creation of the joint-stock company "International Exchange of Information and Telecommunications" (MBIT). Its founders included more than 40 significant enterprises various forms property, mostly state-owned.

Among other things, my idea attracted the attention of the general designer of NPO Almaz, twice Hero of Socialist Labor, Academician Boris Vasilyevich Bunkin. It was he who introduced me to the CEO of Almaz Nikolai Nikolaevich Polyashev, who later became chairman of the MBIT Council. And already he, after we got to know him in more detail, suggested that in four years I become the anti-crisis manager of the enterprise he heads. Although at that time the concept of “anti-crisis manager” had not yet come into use. Polyashev simply asked me to help get out of the deepest crisis in which Almaz found itself. The matter turned out to be difficult.

When I got to the bottom of the problem, I was horrified. "Diamond" really was the creator the best systems Air defense and missile defense of the USSR. It would seem that Russia should have cherished it like the apple of its eye, without denying anything.

But in 1991, the financing of the largest enterprise even by world standards was reduced to a minimum. By 1994, Almaz began to fall apart in the truest sense of the word. There were problems with heating, in many technical rooms the windows were shattered, the wind was blowing through them, even the walls and roofs began to crumble. Debts have accumulated in the amount of more than 150 billion rubles. The working week was at times three days, the salaries of specialists and workers were cheap, and even that individual divisions they did not give out until eight months, because there was nothing to pay.

And on October 1, 1994, I was hired by NPO Almaz as the eighteenth Deputy General Director N. N. Polyasheva, my future older friend and second father. To be honest, I didn't intend to stay long. But it so happened that a challenge of such a level “hooked” me, as they say, and I worked at Almaz for 16 years.

He spent day and night at the plant. We got rid of unnecessary ballast, structured the management system and R&D activities of Almaz. It also helped that even before my arrival, the company was corporatized, which gave greater freedom of maneuver.

I have been in private business since 1988, and quite successfully. So, I invested all my considerable personal money in a very risky way in the improvement of Almaz. In particular, over a decade, he bought back shares owned by more than 12 thousand employees and pensioners of Almaz in accordance with the Privatization Law of that time, which made it possible not to let a single speculative investor into the enterprise, although there were such attempts.

When in the mid-1990s I had an accident in my Moskvich-2141 car, I didn’t even have money to repair it.

But in 1998, all the company's debts were paid off, they were cleared of criminal "tenants", and the full working week, began to significantly increase the salary, which was paid regularly.

All this is the result of those few years of very hard work.

In the same year, I was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of Almaz. And in 2000 Nikolai Nikolaevich Polyashev retired. He and our general designer Boris Vasilievich Bunkin I was recommended in writing for the appointment as General Director, which was decided unanimously by all state representatives on the Board of Directors. During my leadership, the capitalization of Almaz increased 37 times, the average salary increased 12.2 times (from 4,000 to 49,000 rubles), revenue (excluding VAT) increased 49.7 times. Not a single company, even an oil company, can boast of such a rate of capitalization, not to mention defense enterprises. But I came to the enterprise in its pre-bankrupt state.

Creation concept unified system anti-aircraft missile weapons- transition to a new level of complex protection.

Igor Ashurbeyli: In short, it was a transition to a qualitatively new level of integrated protection of aerospace over Russia.

There were two meetings of the Military-Industrial Commission, which were offsite and took place at Almaz. They were conducted by Sergei Borisovich Ivanov in his two positions: first as Minister of Defense, and then as Deputy Prime Minister. According to the concept adopted in 2007 and finally approved in 2009, in 2010 the Ministry of Defense approved full-fledged technical projects already developed under my leadership for the creation of the S-500, Vityaz, Morpheus and a number of others systems.

According to the plan, they were to be put into service in 2013-2014. Within the framework of the approved concept, more than a dozen development works were opened, as well as serial and export contracts were concluded for dozens of S-400 air defense divisions. In addition, at the end of 2000, I completed the affiliation to Almaz of four leading missile defense developers, ground air defense, Navy and controls. Almaz has become a full-fledged lead interspecific developer of the Russian Aerospace Defense. Well, after all this, how can I not be fired ...

The time was such that few people managed to do great things without violations. Have you really not committed any violations in all the years of your management of Almaz, either financial or managerial?

Igor Ashurbeyli: My conscience is clear. Although, of course, there is no person, and I am no exception, without sin. Only God is sinless. They began to check me very hard literally in all directions - a year before my dismissal - from the beginning of 2010. Although before, of course, I was, as required by the rules, "under the X-ray." The decision in some offices, probably, has already been made. They were looking for an excuse to remove the CEO for discrediting circumstances.

At the time, I didn’t understand why such an unhealthy interest arose in me all of a sudden. However, they did not find a reason, so they used the norm of the law, according to which joint-stock company may unilaterally terminate the contract with the General Director without explanation of reasons, giving two weeks' notice of the decision of the Board of Directors.

And on January 19, 2011, at Epiphany, they announced to me that the contract with me was terminated. And exactly two weeks later, on February 4, I was fired. With the entry into the protocol of gratitude for many years of fruitful work.

There were two representatives of the Ministry of Defense on the Board of Directors. So, one of them voted against my dismissal, the other abstained. Several clerks of the Almaz-Antey Air Defense Concern, who voted by verbal order, “resolved” my personnel issue. Then another three years I was tested law enforcement according to the slander of people whom God is the judge. They had at their disposal all the documents of my activity at Almaz since 1994 and administrative resources. They didn't find anything... Otherwise, we wouldn't be talking like this right now.

For all its apparent fantasticness, the project of the State of Asgardia has been carefully calculated and is fully implemented in the near future.

- Were you worried?

Igor Ashurbeyli: Worried is not the right word. He was in terrible despair. I just didn't understand why? They vilely knocked out of the saddle at the very gallop at the age of 48. For two weeks from the announcement of the upcoming dismissal and until the very dismissal, he tried to “solve the problem”, and then he simply prayed, as it should be: “Lord, make it better for me. Not according to my desire, but according to Yours. And so it happened.

Now I can confidently and gratefully say that only after leaving Almaz did I understand what a normal human life. When you are responsible for your actions only to yourself and the Almighty, when you can realize the most daring ideas, and communicate only with those with whom you are pleased to communicate, and when you have time for your loved ones.

- And how did you come to God?

Igor Ashurbeyli: I grew up in an ordinary Soviet, completely atheistic family. On my paternal side, my ancestry goes back to Persia. My known by official historical sources the ancestor was a cousin and minister of defense of the Persian Nadir Shah and in 1743 annexed to his empire the lands that are now part of the territory of Azerbaijan, where he eventually settled as governor. And on the maternal line, the family comes from masons, stove-makers and peasants of the Nizhny Novgorod province. My maternal grandmother - Evgenia Grigorievna Rezanova- kept in my soul Orthodox faith. And secretly baptized me at the age of about five in the temple Mother of God in Pyatigorsk. Of course, I don't remember the rite of baptism. Nevertheless, the question of God has always interested me.

And already having moved to Moscow, at the age of 26, I found myself in a small church on the Lenin Hills - now the Vorobyovs. I have no logical explanation for what happened. There was no insight, no "enlightenment". But since then, gradually, year after year, my soul turned to God. My ancestors built two large mosques in Azerbaijan - the pearls of the city of Baku - the Tezepir mosque and blue mosque. And I, on a much smaller scale: I built two Orthodox church- in the village of Hirino Nizhny Novgorod region, where my maternal ancestors come from, and in Pokrovsky-Streshnevo - the church of St. Elizabeth.

- Tell me, why did you also take up party building?

Igor Ashurbeyli: It happened quite by accident. In 1996, on the affairs of Almaz, I met Gennady Nikolaevich Seleznev who then became chairman State Duma. And we somehow imperceptibly became friends.

After working in the State Duma, Seleznev headed the "Party of the Revival of Russia". Shortly before his sudden death, three years ago, he asked me to take care of the party. I could not refuse, although I did not take Seleznev's place. The position of party leader is still vacant, we are looking for a candidate.

The coffin has no pockets, so the measure of success cannot be a government communications apparatus, a large bank account, an armored personal Mercedes with security, a police escort car. All this is external paraphernalia, superficial. The deeper a person manages to understand himself in his life, ideally - to find God in himself and become fully enlightened - the better. But this is given to few.

Igor Raufovich Ashurbeyli. From the book "Portrait of Domestic Business: 20 Years Later"

- AND main question. What is Asgardia, why did you invent it?

Igor Ashurbeyli: Short answer is not possible. But I'll try. As Tsiolkovsky said, the Earth is the cradle of Mankind, but one cannot live in the cradle all the time.

I am a pure techie, an engineer, not a dreamer, but maybe a visionary. Therefore, I never undertake something that I do not understand how to implement. Asgardia is not a "fake", but a civilizational project. This is the construction of the civilization of the near future. The project is based on calculations - ideological, engineering, financial.

On October 12, Asgardia's 2nd anniversary will be celebrated. For this very little time the idea of a supranational and supraplanetary state has already captured the minds of more than a million earthlings who have registered as followers and residents of Asgardia from more than 200 countries. We adopted our Constitution, approved the anthem, coat of arms, flag. We launched our first satellite.

On June 24 of this year, the Parliament of Asgardia gathered in Vienna for its first in-person meeting, now 125 people from 42 countries of the world work in it - most of these people have never seen each other before this meeting. June 25 was my inauguration as Head of the Nation. Now the Government, the court, the Prosecutor General's Office and the Accounts Chamber are being formed.

Who can be an Asgardian citizen? Any inhabitant of the Earth. That is, you can be a citizen of the Russian Federation, the USA or any other country on our planet, and outside the planet - a citizen of the digital State of Asgardia, continuing to live on Earth.

We have a limit on the number of citizens - 150 million people. Two percent of the population the globe. We are not begging anyone, we are not luring anyone. They come voluntarily. As they say in Asgardia, we are not the best, we are the future.

Our Parliament is unicameral, and the people in it represent 12 official languages states chosen by the Asgardians themselves. Only languages, not states, parties, religions, which only divide people. And we must again build a single human tower of Babel, but not as a symbol of theomachism, but as a symbol of a single humanity. This is the state, the motto of which is: "One humanity - one community."

The apotheosis of Asgardia is the conception and birth of the first child in Space. He will become the first real citizen of the Universal State of Asgardia, whose name will remain in the memory of mankind as long as it exists.

Candidate of Technical Sciences. Author of more than 95 published scientific and technical papers.

Entering the leadership of Almaz in the difficult period for the defense industry in the early 1990s, and subsequently heading the enterprise, Ashurbeyli managed over the past years to make NGOs among the leaders of the Russian military-industrial complex. Today GSKB "Almaz-Antey" is one of the leading enterprises of the defense industry, with a stable material and technical base, introducing new technologies, know-how into production, which has won international prestige as a strong and reliable partner. Under the leadership of Igor Ashurbeyli, an internal restructuring was carried out at Almaz and its subsidiaries, which resulted in the absence of tax, salary and energy arrears. The enterprise successfully fulfills the state defense order and export contracts, which bring significant profit to the state. The pride of NPO Almaz is the famous air defense systems of the S-300P family, which today form the basis of the Russian air defense shield. Almaz's latest development, the S-400 Triumph system, successfully passed state tests and was put into service. Russian army.

Thanks to the efforts and perseverance of I.R. Ashurbeli in June 2003 the all-Russian weekly newspaper "Military Industrial Courier" with a circulation of 50 thousand copies and the magazine "Military Space Defense" were established, which aroused interest not only in the military-industrial complex, but also in the country as a whole for its pronounced patriotic position. Igor Ashurbeyli, scientist, businessman, public figure, philanthropist.

Date of birth: 09/09/1963.

Place of birth: Baku (Azerbaijan).

On the paternal side, the ancestor of Igor Ashurbeyli was Ashur Khan Afshar, the Minister of War (Sardar) of Azerbaijan (mid-18th century). Shah of Iran, Nadir Shah Afshar, who was his cousin, granted Ashur Khan vast land on the outskirts of Baku. The descendants of the khan, who received a title of nobility from the tsar and took the surname Ashurbekov, went down in the history of the Russian Empire as successful oilmen and generous patrons. The revolution put an end to prosperity. The power of the Soviets took everything they could from the family - lands, houses, enterprises, businesses. Many emigrated, others decided at their own peril and risk to stay. In order to avoid conspicuous noble origin, the heads of families got rid of the basis "bek" in their surname (from the Turkic "bek" is translated as "ruler, prince, lord"). So the Ashurbekovs turned into Ashurbeyli. But it still did not save from repression. In the Stalinist dungeons, along with other representatives of the ancient family, the great-grandfather and grandfather of Igor Ashurbeyli disappeared.

On the mother's side, the ancestors of Igor Ashurbeyli were Nizhny Novgorod peasants. Even before the revolution, his great-grandfather Grigory Rezanov began to visit Azerbaijan to work (he was a bricklayer by profession). And when he found a permanent job in Baku, he moved his family there as well. In 1919 Grigory joined the Bolshevik Party. After returning from the Red Army, Rezanov began to make a party career, at the same time being engaged in consumer cooperation.

Igor Ashurbeyli's parents grew up in neighboring houses and knew each other since childhood. Rauf and Elizabeth got married in 1962. And on September 9, 1963, the first and only child. “This kid has a great future, believe me!” - the doctor who delivered the baby said to the happy mother. Her words turned out to be prophetic.

After the birth of Igor, Elizabeth devoted herself entirely to his upbringing. And only when the boy grew up, the woman decided to go back to work - at the Institute of Space Research, where she held the position of metrology engineer. The boy's father, Rauf Davudovich, devoted himself to science. His professional destiny was connected with the Azerbaijan Institute of Petrochemical Processes.

One of the most important people for Igor Ashurbeyli there was a maternal grandmother - Evgenia Grigoryevna. She baptized the boy in secret from everyone in the Pyatigorsk Church of the Mother of God.

From childhood, Igor Ashurbeyli was attracted to games where you need to think strategically. At first, soldiers were his favorite pastime, later he switched to chess. The boy did not cause any particular trouble to his parents. He was obedient, quickly learned to read and could sit with an interesting book all day. But already at that time his desire for leadership was manifested. If he got an A at school, not an A, he would cry. It is not surprising that Igor Ashurbeyli became a gold medalist.

Summer 1980 young man enrolled in the Azerbaijan Institute of Oil and Chemistry. There was a huge competition for the faculty of automation of production processes that interested him, but Igor Ashurbeyli brilliantly coped with the examination tests. Training was easy for Ashurbeyli. AT free time he worked as a laboratory assistant at his alma mater, and at summer holidays traveled with a construction team through the cities and villages of the USSR.

In 1983, Igor Ashurbeyli married his classmate Victoria. And in 1984, the young couple had a son, Ruslan. The year 1985 was marked by the successful defense of the diploma, but Ashurbeyli was not going to break with science. In 1987, a graduate systems engineer entered the graduate school of his native university. Looking ahead, let's say that the defense of the candidate took place a few years later, in 1992.

In the late 1980s, the country experienced an upswing. Perestroika opened up many hitherto unseen opportunities for Soviet citizens. One of them is the law on cooperation. In 1988, Igor Ashurbeyli established a cooperative called Sotsium. Then he initiated the creation of the Association of Scientific, Industrial and Technical Enterprises of Azerbaijan, becoming the head of the organization.

In 1991, Igor Ashurbeyli launches two more new projects - a commodity exchange in Baku and the International Exchange of Information and Telecommunications in Moscow. Igor Ashurbeyli characterizes this time as a “breakthrough period”. Then he moved to live in Russia.

Igor Ashurbeyli got into the defense industry by chance. His company rented an office on the territory owned by NPO Almaz. The leadership of the defense giant noticed a young businessman who felt like a fish in water in market conditions and showed remarkable organizational skills. “Here is the best candidate for the role of anti-crisis manager!” - thought the leaders of the enterprise and went to the negotiations. Igor Ashurbeyli considered the offer flattering, albeit unexpected, and, on reflection, agreed to this “adventure”. I thought that I came to Almaz for only six months. But six months stretched into 17 years.

With the help of Igor Ashurbeyli, it was possible not only to pull the enterprise out of the debt hole, but also to start the process of its transformation. In 2000, Igor Ashurbeyli became the head of Almaz Central Design Bureau OJSC. Under his leadership, Almaz entered the arms market with new developments. The enterprise actively worked with state defense orders; modernization of the old anti-aircraft missile systems and complexes; a new generation of weapons for air defense and missile defense was created. "Almaz" began to supply air defense systems for export. A competent economic policy led to an increase in the profit of the enterprise, an increase in wages and social benefits. The company flourished. One of the merits of Ashurbeyli is the addition of several leading weapons developers to the enterprise for different types troops.

Igor Ashurbeyli continued to implement other interesting projects. In 2003, he created and headed the WEC on the problems of aerospace defense, in 2006 he established the Military Industrial Company (VPK) CJSC, and engaged in publishing activities.

In 2011, Igor Ashurbeyli was removed from the post of General Director of Almaz. After his resignation, he had time to defend his doctoral dissertation, which he did in the same year.

Today, Igor Ashurbeyli continues to lead an active social life, publishes magazines, and helps to restore churches. His firm "Socium" has grown over a quarter of a century into a diversified holding.

The new grandiose project of Igor Ashurbeyli is connected with space, more precisely with the first space state in the history of the planet, Asgardia, which Igor Raufovich founded in the fall of 2016.

Once Igor Ashurbeyli answered the question of what is the basis for his impeccable reputation in business. Firstly, a person should not promise anything superfluous, and secondly, one must always fulfill what he promised. Ashurbeyli strictly follows these principles in professional life, and in personal.
