2. Approve the corrected borders of the specially protected natural area "Natural Reserve "Valley of the Setun River" (Appendix 2).

3. As compensation for the territories of the natural complex included in the nature reserve (clause 1), include in the natural complex objects the territories with a total area of ​​90.75 hectares, forming the following objects of the natural complex of the Western Administrative District: N 178 "Green area in the river valley Setun and its tributaries in the area of ​​Novo-Peredelkino and adjacent territories" (Appendix 3), N 179 "Green area with a pond along the Mozhaisk highway" (Appendix 4).

4. The origin of the name "Setun" is not clear. In legends, it is associated with the word "complain": there were supposedly burial places near the mouth of the river, and relatives of the dead came here to complain. This version cannot be taken seriously. Most often, the hydronym is considered as Baltic, deriving it from the geographical term "sietuva" - "deep or wide place of the river; the middle of the river." But the Setun is not one of the largest rivers near Moscow, for which the Baltic etymology has been proven. In addition, the connection of the mentioned term with the natural features of the river is not obvious. With some stretch, it can be assumed that it is not the river itself that is meant, but its place on the Teplostan Upland, i.e. "sietuva" - the deepest and widest river valley, cutting through the highlands ("middle river"). Or maybe it means the middle of some navigable section of the Moscow River, half of the waterway, marked on the ground by the mouth of the Setun One way or another, one must also reckon with the Slavic hypothesis, in which the hydronym "Setun" is associated with the northern geographical term "sedun "."Sedun" is a "quagmire, swampy place." In this case, "sedun" refers to the river valley - a low ("sagging") place separating the Tatar Upland from the rest of the Teplostanskaya Upland.

Within the boundaries of the nature reserve there are three old manor parks: the Troyekurovo estate, Spasskoye on Setun, Troitse-Golenishchevo. The architectural monuments include the Church of the Savior Not Made by Hands on Setun (1676), the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker with elements of the park (XVII-XVIII centuries), the church Life-Giving Trinity in Trinity-Golenishchevo (1644-1645), Church of the Intercession Holy Mother of God(XVII century), country estate of Prince Troekurov (XVIII-XIX centuries).

In the south-west of Moscow, on the left and right banks of the Setun River, there is the largest reserve in the city. It is called the natural reserve "Valley of the Setun River" and its territory covers an area of ​​almost 700 hectares.

The nature of the reserve

The slopes of the river are quite gentle, lindens, birches, oaks and pines grow on them, forming virgin forest areas, in places replaced by thickets of gray alders and willows, turning into small swamps. The vegetation of the natural reserve "Valley of the Setun River" is about four hundred species of plants, and about 10% of them are very rare for the capital and the Moscow region. In the spring months, in forest thickets, in glades and meadows, flowers listed in the Red Book are full of fragrance and fragrant: lilies of the valley, primroses, bluebells, orchids and many others.

Floating on a boat on the river, you can meet aquatic animals, like muskrats. Stoats, black polecats and weasels live on the shore. Among the huge number of animals living in the natural reserve "Valley of the Setun River", more than forty species are recorded in documents as rare for Moscow. Amphibians are found here, a huge number of species of birds, the most numerous of which are warblers and warblers. On the territory of the reserve, you can hear the magical trills of the nightingale, the soothing songs of the dawn, here you can spy on the sandpiper, mallard, moorhen and others. waterfowl. Attractions of the reserve

In times before Tatar-Mongol invasion, on the site of the reserve there was a village, from which a barrow was preserved - an ancient cemetery. And while working in a quarry on the left bank of the river, the Davydkovsky burial ground was found. In 1812, in these places, Napoleon, going to Moscow, met with Murat, who led the vanguard, who reported to the emperor that the path to the Russian capital was free.

Country estates and churches standing on the territory of the reserve belong to the architectural monuments of the 17th-19th centuries, there are four of them, all of them are very beautiful. And for those who want to relax in nature, several picnic areas, children's and sports grounds, bicycle trails are equipped. In winter, this is a great place to go skiing or tobogganing down the hills.

The civilized part of the park is entirely equipped for possible visits by people with disabilities. Everything here is very reminiscent of European parks and even surpasses them in terms of lighting - the lanterns here use wind and solar energy, there are video cameras with an emergency call button on the paths.

"Valley of the Setun River" is a nature reserve divided into two parts, one of them is untouched by civilization, and the second is completely ennobled. The Setun River flows in the west of Moscow and is the largest right tributary of the Moscow River. The nature reserve is stretched along the channel and is limited by residential and industrial buildings on both sides.

Although the territory of the park is a narrow strip stretching from the Moscow Ring Road to the Sparrow Hills, its preservation is exclusively great importance cities, supporting biodiversity in the regions of the western part of Moscow.

Valley area

There are many ponds and springs in the valley of the Setun River. Floodplain meadows and swamps of the reserve are adjacent to small forest areas, on the steep and gentle slopes of the river grow birches, lindens, oaks, pines, as well as spruce and alder forests rare for Moscow.

You may be lucky and you will meet such rare and endangered species as the wryneck, field lark, yellow wagtail, common shrike, river cricket, common grosbeak.

In addition to flora and fauna, there are beautiful ponds and springs in the valley: the Troekurovo Manor pond, Troekurovsky ponds, a pond on Veresaevo street, Leshin spring, a spring on Nezhinskaya street, Volynsky spring, a pond on Olof Palme street and ponds on the Neverashka River.

For lovers of history and archeology - the remains of ancient settlements and burials. This is the Matveevsky settlement, which existed in the pre-Mongolian period, with a preserved barrow cemetery. As well as the Davydkovsky burial ground, discovered during the development of a quarry on the left bank of the Setun.

The architectural monuments located on the territory of the reserve include:

Ecological excursions are conducted in the reserve. They are oriented towards the knowledge of nature and, most importantly, the preservation of visited natural areas in their original form.

All excursions include cognitive elements and involve immersion in local traditions and culture. The reserve invites all nature lovers to walk through the forest areas, which include getting to know the life of the inhabitants wildlife, as well as with coastal and river landscapes.

• Excursion No. 1 "Nezhinskaya floodplain"

The Nezhensky section of the Setun valley is one of the most interesting. Here the maximum expression is reached by the main natural feature of the reserve - the presence of large open spaces with meadow areas of varying degrees of moisture.

The landscape consists of a floodplain, fragments of terraces above the floodplain, and slopes of the Setun bedrock banks. The length of the route is 1.5 kilometers, and the duration is 2-2.5 hours.

• Excursion №2 "Matveevsky forest"

The value of the forest is not questioned. Back in the 20th century, the Setun Valley at this place was declared a natural monument. The forest occupies one twentieth of the territory from the Moscow Ring Road to the mouth of the river. It is also called the Volyn forest.
