Photo and description

The Trinity Church in Troitskaya Slobodka was first mentioned in documents in 1654; the altar in the church was consecrated in honor of the Holy Life-Giving Trinity. Troitskaya Sloboda is located near the Nikitsky Monastery. It was also called Otkhozhaya Slobidka, this is due to the fact that priests from Pereslavl used to go here to perform worldly services. Until the abolition of the monastic estates, the settlement belonged to the monastery and was inhabited by its servants.

According to the census books of 1677, there were 16 yards of kvasovars and other artisans, as well as 3 Bobyl yards in the settlement. The church in Trinity Sloboda was single-domed, wooden, covered with German iron with an iron cross with feathers; the altar, the church, the refectory, the porch were covered with boards. On the Royal Doors - the image of the Annunciation and the Evangelists; to the right of the royal doors is the image of the Trinity. On the northern doors are images of Saints Gregory the Theologian, Stephen, Nicholas the Wonderworker. Above the royal gates are deesis. Above the right kliros there is an image of the Descent of the Holy Spirit, above the left - the Crucifixion. The throne was overlaid with red calico in front, with krasin on the other sides; behind the throne was the image of Hodegetria portable. There were 3 mica windows in the altar and the church itself; There were 3 small bells on the bell tower.

In 22 yards of the settlement at that time lived beans. The wooden church burned down before 1753, and in 1763, through the efforts of the parishioners, a new church was built, also wooden, which was consecrated in honor of the Holy Trinity with the blessing of Sylvester, Bishop of Pereslavl.

In 1855 on the site of a wooden church. on the donations of the parishioners, a stone church was built, which has two thrones: in the cold aisle - in honor of the Life-Giving Trinity, in the warm one - in the name of St. Nikita the Stylite.

In 1858, Vasily Dmitrievich Skvortsov was appointed priest of this church in Troitskaya Sloboda. In 1848 he graduated from the seminary in Vladimir, in 1852 he became a deacon in the village of Oparino, and in 1885 he was removed from the staff. In 1876, the church in Troitskaya Sloboda was assigned to the St. John Chrysostom Church. Deacon Iosif Tretyakovsky was assigned to the temple over the staff, while the priest from the Zlatoust Church, Father Peter (Lebedev), led the divine services. Since 1895, Vladimir Ivanovich Chizhov was appointed a priest in Troitskaya Sloboda.

The Trinity Church was sufficiently provided with sacristy, utensils, holy icons, and the necessary liturgical books. The priest and psalmist, appointed by the state, lived in church houses that were built in 1891 by parishioners. The parish of the church consisted of Troitskaya and Nikitskaya settlements, in which at the end of the 19th century there were 247 men and 243 women of the Orthodox faith. Nikitskaya Sloboda, which was located next to the Nikitsky Monastery, was inhabited by monastic servants; in 1702, there were 10 clerks, clerks, servants, 14 stables, 6 servants, taken "for stone work", 6 soldiers' yards, 3 widows', 3 beggars' and a blacksmith's yard.

In 1907, a holy fool, an ascetic named Misha-Samuel, died in Troitskaya Sloboda. He is buried at Trinity Church. His full name is Mikhail Vasilyevich Lazarev. People called him Samuel after the death of Hieromonk Samuel from the Nikolsky Monastery, who was very respected by the people. Foolish Misha-Samuel among Pereslavl had a special respect. The feat of foolishness, adopted by him since childhood, made people pay attention to him, especially when he began to predict the future for them. As an 8-year-old child, he predicted a pestilence in his village, albeit in an allegorical symbolic form.

After that, Misha began to move away from his parents to the city more often. Misha, having left his parents, spent his whole life wandering around the city and its environs. He often visited Troitskaya Sloboda, where he liked to visit the house of the legless peasant Simeon Vukolov. Kind people treated him to food, clothes and shelter. People often turned to him for advice in difficult life situations.

Today the Holy Trinity is the courtyard of the Nikitsky Monastery. A chapel was erected over the grave of the holy fool Misha.

In the Trinity Sloboda, there used to be an ancient chapel, which was erected in honor of the conclusion of peace between the Suzdal and Pereslavl people. At first it was wooden, and at the turn of the 17th-18th centuries a stone chapel was built in its place. In Soviet times, it was destroyed.

There were two priests at the church at that time; land 12 quarters, hay 25 kopecks. In Troitskaya Slobidka, then, bobyls lived in 22 yards. This wooden church burned down before 1753, and the zeal of the parishioners in 1763 built a new, wooden one, consecrated with the blessing of Bishop Sylvester of Pereslavl, also in honor of the Holy Trinity.

Instead of a wooden church, in 1855 a stone church with two altars was built at the expense of the parishioners: in the cold one in the name of the Life-Giving Trinity, in the warm chapel in honor of St. Nikita the Stylite.

In 1858, Vasily Dmitrievich Skvortsov was appointed priest of the church of the Trinity Otkhozhaya Sloboda. He graduated from the Vladimir Seminary in 1848, in 1852 - a deacon in the village. Oparino (now in the Moscow region). In 1885 he left the state.

In 1876, the Trinity Church was attached to the city's St. John Chrysostom Church. The deacon Iosif Tretyakovsky was appointed to the Trinity Church in excess of the state, the priest of the Zlatoust Church Pyotr Lebedev performed divine services.

Vladimir Ivanovich Chizhov graduated from the Vladimir Theological Seminary in 1887, and since 1895 he has been a priest of the Trinity Sloboda of the Pereslavl district.

Utensils, sacristy, holy icons and liturgical books the temple was supplied enough. The state clergy was supposed to be a priest and a psalmist; a special clergy existed since 1891. The lands at the church were: estate 1 tithe, hay 7 and arable 25. The priest cultivated the arable land himself, and the psalmist leased it for 50 rubles. in year. They lived in church houses built by parishioners in 1891.

The parish consisted of the Trinity settlement and the settlement of Nikitskaya, in which, according to the clergy's statements at the end of the 19th century. there were 247 male and 243 female souls, all Orthodox. Nikitskaya Slobidka, located near the Nikitsky Monastery, was inhabited by monastic servants; in 1702, there were 10 yards of cookers, servants, clerks, 14 yards of grooms and 6 yards of servants who were taken to stone work, 6 yards of soldiers, 3 widows, 3 mendicants and a blacksmith’s yard.

Vladimir Elkhovskoy recalled: “There was a holy fool in our city - Misha Samuil (for which he was given a middle name, I don’t know), a person so popular in the city that the bookseller Ivan Vasilyevich Bykov, releasing a series of Pereslavl species, considered himself obliged to release and a postcard with the image of Misha Samuil. Misha went barefoot both in winter and summer, with his head open, covered only by a cap of curly hair. The doors of all city houses were open to him, and he was famous as a seer and soothsayer. He spoke abruptly, abruptly. Once dad went to Eliseev's bakery and confectionery. There were a lot of people there, and Misha Samuil was standing at the counter among them. Seeing dad, Misha got worried and muttered abruptly: “Whose priest? Whose pop? He was told to. Misha looked at papa again and wept bitterly, covered his face with his hands and left the bakery. Dad later said that this episode had a very unpleasant effect on him, since he had already heard about Misha. A couple of days after this meeting, Lidochka (Vladimir Elkhovsky's sister) fell ill with croup and died. Misha Samuil died in 1908 near the city, in Troitskaya Otkhozhaya Slobodka, he was buried with great honor, with a large gathering of people and city clergy.

On February 23, 1907, the ascetic holy fool Misha-Samuil, the son of a peasant, died in Troitskaya Slobodka. Yam. He is buried here at the church. His full name, patronymic and surname is Mikhail Vasilyevich Lazarev. The name Samuel was given to him by the people since the death of the respected hieromonk of the Nikolsky Monastery Samuel. Misha was tall, with curly hair and a white beard, his face was distinguished by mobility, dark gray eyes sometimes lit up with a joyful gleam. In winter and summer, he dressed invariably: an apron under a short jacket, red cuffs on his hands, in his left hand a skullcap, in which his admirers put a monetary contribution; supports on the legs. Among the citizens of Pereslavl and its environs, he gained special respect. The feat of foolishness, adopted even in childhood, involuntarily forced everyone to pay attention to him, especially when, as it seemed to many, he began to predict the future symbolically and covertly. It was said that, being still an 8-year-old boy, he predicted a pestilence in public in his village and its environs. In the middle of the village, he dug two graves, picked up apples that had not yet ripened, filled the graves with them and fell asleep, and put crosses on them. When the comrades and peasants began to scold him for this, he answered them: "If you don't like it, you'll cry." A week later, he began to carry earth with shovels to the village cemetery. When those around him began to scold and even beat him again, he only said: “If you don’t like it, you’ll cry” ...

And what? In this village, a pestilence soon occurred, which carried away to the grave many human victims that had not matured to old age. Since that time, Misha more and more often began to move away from his parents to the city. First for a day or two, and then completely left them, completely surrendering himself to the will of God, having no shelter, no food, no warm clothes. Having ended all ties with the parental home, Misha spent his whole life wandering around the city and its environs. He often visited Troitskaya Sloboda, where he liked to stay in the house of a wretched legless, equally celibate peasant Simeon Vukolov. Misha did not care about what to eat and what to wear, kind people rewarded him with food, clothing, and shelter. When he walked around the city, people who respected him usually approached him for advice, most often in unfortunate circumstances of life.
Nowadays, the Church of the Holy Trinity is the courtyard of the Nikitsky Monastery. A chapel was built over the grave of Blessed Misha.
