The Optina Elders are residents of the Optina Monastery, located in Kaluga region. They differed from ordinary monks in that:

Everyone has heard about the Optina Convent. Especially after the murder of three monks by a Satanist, which is described in the book "Red Easter". Wrong approach...

As a rule, people turn to religion with serious questions when something is not going well in their life. And having turned, they wait - a miracle. Because they remember well (even if no one especially taught them) the essence of the parable about prodigal son- here he is: he returned, and he was accepted, and moreover - in honor of the return they stabbed a well-fed calf! Correct, in general. But everything is not quite right here.
As a rule, people turn to psychology with serious questions when everything in their life goes awry. And having turned, they also expect a miracle. But it is motivated by several other things. Faith in science... It is right to believe in science. But everything is not quite right here.

The right approach

Interest in science (psychology) and religion should, of course, not be "first aid". Otherwise, there will be little use for a person from either one or the other.

It is advisable to be interested in both when our hearts are calm and good.

After all, any wisdom will not be useful if we rush to it in stress, resentment, with a head clouded with anger and holes in our shoes...
