Russian fighter-interceptor MiG-31 of the Eastern Military District crashed in Buryatia, reported. The aircraft was performing a scheduled training flight in the area of ​​the Telemba test site.

The accident happened at 12.05 Moscow time. The plane crashed in a deserted place on the territory of the landfill. A search and rescue helicopter flew to the scene. The cause of the plane crash is still unknown. No deaths or injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

Both pilots who were on the plane managed to eject, now nothing threatens their lives and health, the Ministry of Defense noted.

At the same time, the press service of the Eastern Military District on the morning of April 26 announced the successful completion of a long flight of MiG-31 aircraft from Kamchatka to Transbaikalia. Fighters, the number of which is not specified, took off from the air base of the naval aviation of the Pacific Fleet (Pacific Fleet) and landed at the Domna airfield of the aviation unit of the Russian Aerospace Forces in Transbaikalia, the flight range was 3.5 thousand km.

During the flight, the fighter pilots completed the tasks of air defense and worked out the elements of air combat. In Transbaikalia, the MiG-31 will fly over unfamiliar terrain, and will also take part in a tactical flight exercise to intercept cruise missiles with live firing, the Defense Ministry said.

MiG-31 fighter-interceptors are designed to destroy air targets in the border regions of Russia, as well as inside the country. Aircraft often take part in exercises. So, in mid-April, two fighter-interceptors at the Kamchatka air base of the Pacific Fleet worked out the interception of conditional cruise missiles in the stratosphere. To detect targets, the aircraft climbed to a height of 15 km, their flight speed during the exercises was more than 2.5 thousand km / h. The distance of destruction of conditional cruise missiles is about 120 km.

Since the beginning of the operation of the MiG-31, at least 35 fighters have been lost in various accidents.

The last accident involving the MiG-31 occurred in January 2016. The plane, which was carrying out a training flight without ammunition, crashed 40 km from the city of Kansk in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. There were two people on board, both managed to eject. The Ministry of Defense called the failure of equipment the cause of the crash of the fighter.

An emergency happened on the afternoon of September 12 in the Kabansky district of Buryatia. At about 12 noon, the Ministry of Emergency Situations received information that a Che22 Corvette seaplane had made a hard landing in the Selenga Delta.

There were 2 people on board. The victims were picked up by the Ivolga tugboat. Rescuers of the Baikal search and rescue detachment, a group of the GIMS patrol service and a fire brigade left for the scene, the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for Buryatia reported.

In addition, a Mi-8 Buryat Airlines helicopter with 3 rescuers was sent to the hard landing site of the seaplane. With their help, the victims were loaded and evacuated to a medical facility in Ulan-Ude.

As a result of the incident, 2 people were injured. With injuries (bruised ribs, bruised spine, concussion), the victims were taken to the ER, the rescuers report.

Criminal case initiated

Upon the crash of a seaplane in Buryatia, the East Siberian Investigation Department for Transport of the TFR initiated a criminal case under Part 1 of Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of the rules of traffic safety and operation of air transport, which negligently entailed the infliction of serious harm to human health).

According to investigators, on September 12, at about 11.20 am, a seaplane crashed in the Kabansky District in the delta of the Selenga River.

At the helm sat its owner, a 28-year-old resident of Irkutsk. A 30-year-old local resident was on board with the pilot. As a result of a hard splashdown of the plane, both people were injured, investigators say.

During the initial medical examination, the victims were diagnosed with closed craniocerebral injuries, a compression fracture of the spine, fractures of the ribs, numerous cuts and bruises. The pilot and passenger were transported to Ulan-Ude for hospitalization.

As the investigation established, the seaplane flight was carried out without notifying the state air traffic control authorities, the press service of the East Siberian SU on transport reports. “Currently, investigations are being carried out to establish all the circumstances of the incident. The preliminary causes of the incident are aircraft malfunction and pilot error. The criminal investigation is ongoing.

If the power system fails, then the plane will still fly, because the power plant does not require a constant supply of current, it is the same as a blowtorch - it started up and everything works. As long as there is kerosene, everything is in order. There were cases when, in the event of a fuel supply system failure, the pilots gracefully got out of the situation - they simply did not change the jet and flew to the airfields using the available thrust. And here, if they ejected, then there were conditions when the plane simply could not fly, ”the instructor pilot continues.

In his opinion, it also made no sense to carry out an emergency landing, because only from above the earth looks flat and even. But when you get close to it, the surface irregularities become noticeable.

The MiG-31 is a long-range supersonic all-weather fighter-interceptor.
