99 names of allah arabic alphabet. How to practice the repetition of the names of the Almighty? beautiful names of Allah

Islamic theologians emphasize that the names of Allah are not fixed in a strict externally given sequence, but are resonantly associated with the inner aspiration-will of the human soul to answer the Divine call. Man is able to comprehend revelation only when he comprehends its true meaning and meditates on it. The Holy Quran is the uncreated Word of Allah, but in order to perceive It, one must comprehend It with the fullness of the heart, the depths of the soul - Sheikh Muhammad bin Salih al-Uthaymin substantiates this idea (Ideal rules related to the beautiful names and qualities of Allah. First Russian edition. . Translated from Arabic Kuliev Elmir Rafael oglu, editor and author of the Preface to the Russian edition, Doctor of Law Sheikh Abu Umar Salim Al-Ghazzi):

"/p. 34: / The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, also said: “Allah has ninety-nine names, one hundred minus one, and / p. 35/ whoever counts them will enter Paradise.” This hadith was narrated by al-Bukhari (6410), Muslim (2677), at-Tirmidhi (5/3507) from the words of Abu Hureyra, may Allah Almighty be pleased with him. Moreover, the version of at-Tirmizi contains interpolation. To count-count means to remember these beautiful names by heart, to realize their meaning and, finally, to worship Allah in accordance with their meaning. However, this hadith does not indicate that the number of beautiful names of Allah is limited to this number. If this were so, then the text of the hadith would be, for example, the following: "The names of Allah are ninety-nine, and whoever counts them will enter Paradise."

Therefore, the hadith says that anyone who counts the ninety-nine names of Allah will go to Paradise, and the last sentence of this hadith is not an independent statement, but the logical conclusion of the previous thought. Imagine that a person says, “I have a hundred dirhams and I am going to distribute them as a donation.” This does not mean that he does not have other dirhams that he is not going to donate.

As for what names of Allah are meant, there is not a single reliable report about this. And the hadith that lists the ninety-nine names of Allah is weak. We are talking about a hadith that says that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: “Allah has ninety-nine names, and whoever counts them will enter Paradise. This is Allah, except Whom there is no other deity, the Merciful, the Merciful ... ". This hadith was narrated by at-Tirmidhi (3507), al-Bayhaqi in the collection “Shuab al-Iman” (102), Ibn Maja (3860) and Ahmad (2/258) from the words of Abu Hurairah, may Allah Almighty be pleased with him.

Sheikh-ul-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah wrote: “The enumeration of names does not refer to the words of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, in which experts of theology and hadith are unanimous” (See “Majmu al-Fatawa”, vol. 6, p. 382) . He also wrote: “Al-Walid narrated this hadith from the words of his teachers from Sham, which is mentioned in some versions of the hadith” (see “Majmu al-Fatawa”, vol. 6, p. 379). Ibn Hajar wrote: “The hadiths on this subject, transmitted by al-Bukhari and Muslim, are devoid of flaws. However, al-Walid's version differs from the others. It is confusing and possibly contains interpolation” (See Fath al-Bari, vol. 11, p. 215).

Since the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, did not determine the ninety-nine names of Allah, Muslim theologians expressed different opinions on this matter. As for me, I have collected ninety-nine names that I managed to find in the writings of Allah Almighty and the Sunnah of His Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.

In this sequence, I have arranged eighty-one names from the writings of Allah Almighty and eighteen names from the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. At the same time, I doubted whether the name “al-Khafi” (Welcoming, Condescending) should be attributed to the beautiful names of Allah, because in the Holy Quran this epithet is associated with the prophet Ibrahim. He said: “Peace be with you! I will ask my Lord to send you forgiveness, as He is indulgent towards me ”(Sura “Maryam” / “Maryam” /, ayat 47). I also hesitated in connection with the name “al-Muhsin” (the Virtuous) because I did not find the corresponding hadith in the collection of at-Tabarani, however Shaykh-ul-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah mentioned this name along with others.

At the same time, some other beautiful names can be added to this list, for example: “Malik al-Mulk” (Lord of the kingdom), “Zul-Jalal wa al-Ikram” (Possessing greatness and glory).”

Sheikh Muhammad bin Salih al-Uthaymeen above demonstrated an attempt to subjectively build 99 beautiful Names of Allah up to their new sounds and meanings, and this once again raises the problem of their stricter classification. The Indo-Pakistani Ahmadi theologians, when working on the Russian edition of the Holy Quran, did not turn to the Sunnah at all, but proceeded from the verses of the Koranic suras. And they identified not 99, but 108 attributes (syfats), listed below (in my three-digit numbering) in comparison with the accepted list of al-asma al-husna (two-digit numbering of Names):

As you can see, there is a clear discrepancy both in the composition (from 99 to 122 and beyond) and in the order of listing the beautiful Names of Allah, not to mention the frequent absence of references to sacred texts and Arabic inscriptions of a number of beautiful Names. In general, for a long time, up to the present End Times, little attention was paid to the strictly systematic comprehension of the Holy Scriptures, only Christian theologians tried to approach the New Testament in detail, however, they are still far from its adequate understanding. So the faithful have a lot of work ahead of them.

“Just as friction on the ground cleanses iron from rust, so the repetition of the Names of Allah (Allah) cleanses our hearts from everything bad,” the Prophet said. The inscriptions of 99 beautiful Names of Allah can be enjoyed on the site of the Crimean Tatar youth. My conclusion is the following - there are 99 names or qualities or attributes (syfats) of Allah, and the faithful must master and comprehend them, however, the nuances-shades of each of the beautiful Names of Allah in the pronunciation and even in the inscription in Arabic of the Holy Quran and the Most Pure Sunnah can vary , which not only creates the illusion of the existence of more than 99 names, but also opens the way to the subjective classification of these 99 names - for example, according to the scheme of 11 transcendences + 22 existentials + 33 categories, for Allah is higher than all things and therefore, with his 99 beautiful Names, he is certainly associated with Being and Nothing.

Being the Lord of the worlds and having unlimited power over everything, Allah has a large number of noble qualities and characteristics. They are reflected in His beautiful names.

As it says in the Holy Quran (, verse 180):

“Allah has the most beautiful names. Therefore call upon Him by means of them, and leave those who deny His names. They will certainly receive a reward for what they have done.”

Any of the names of the Lord of the worlds has its own specific meaning, characterizing the syifats (signs) of the Almighty. In total, there are 99 main names, and a number of additional ones are also distinguished. The merit of their memorization and pronunciation is mentioned in one of the hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him): “Verily, Allah has ninety-nine names, a hundred names without one. Whoever enumerates them will enter Paradise.” (Bukhari)

The names of the Almighty, their translation and meaning

1. Allah ("God")- the most common in the Qur'an and famous among Muslims. This name means that Allah is the only God and no one but Him is worthy of worship.

2. Ar-Rahman ("The Merciful")- means that the Lord has unlimited mercy, which Allah shows to all creatures, regardless of whether a person is a believer or an unbeliever.

3. Ar-Rahim ("Merciful")- this name tells us that the Creator shows mercy towards all who believe and worship Him.

4. Al-Malik ("Lord of all things")- characterizes the Lord as the Ruler of the worlds, who has absolute power over all creations.

5. Al-Quddus ("The Holy One")- The Creator is free from any shortcomings and negative traits that are inherent in people.

noble thoughts and good deeds!

The birth of a child is one of the most significant events in

family life. Together with the joy of the birth of a new

of a person, parents are responsible to

Almighty, associated with the care of the baby and his

upbringing.

According to the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad 1, immediately after

the birth of a child in his right ear should read the adhan, and in

for Divine and sacred words must come first,

that reach the ears of the baby. It is they

symbolize the greatness of the Supreme Creator, contain

the basic formula of monotheism, the recognition of which makes

a Muslim person. From now on, the words of adhan

and iqamah must accompany the child throughout

life, helping him and illuminating his path. According to

Muslim tradition, with the sounds of adhan, Satan is driven out, with

looking forward to the birth of each new

person to have a negative effect on him.

One of the issues requiring special attention from

parents,

is an

right

newborn. This book will be very helpful in choosing

beautiful Muslim name. Young and inexperienced

parents often give a name to a child without thinking about it

meaning, correct

pronunciation or spelling without even thinking about it

euphony. Only once in a lifetime can a child be given a name,

therefore it is necessary that all parents give serious thought and

guided by Muslim tradition.

Abu Dawud narrates from Abu ad-Darda:

The Messenger of Allah said: “Indeed, on the Day

Resurrection you will be called by your names and

the names of your fathers. So name the children

beautiful names!

From Ibn Umar the following words are transmitted:

May Allah grant him blessings and peace! These words are spoken and written at the mention of the Prophet

Muhammad.

The Prophet said: “Indeed, the most beloved names

before the Lord - "Abd Allah (slave of God) and" Abd ar-

Rahman (slave of the Merciful) ”(collection of x. Imam Muslim).

It should be noted that all those

names that contain the word "abd(slave) or "amat

(slave), in combination with one of the beautiful names of the Almighty:

Abd ar-Razzak (slave of the Giver of Supplement), Abd al-Malik (slave

Masters), Amat Allah (slave of Allah).

In one of the hadiths, preference is given

naming children after prophets and angels. Last name

common names in the Muslim world has become the name

Muhammad.

In Arabic, the name Muhammad is related to the names Ahmad,

Mahmoud, Hamid, since they have a single three-letter

root hamida

. The name Mustafa (the chosen one) is also

one of the honorary names of the Prophet

It is important to remember that the person who is entrusted

responsibility for the child, he must also take care that

he was not given a name that offended his dignity and which

may be a source of ridicule.

At-Tirmidhi from "Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her!) reports

the story that the prophet

changed bad names.

From Ibn Umar it is reported that the daughter of Umar was called "Asia

(disobedient, disobedient), and the Prophet called her Jamila

It is forbidden to give names inherent only to the Almighty

The creator, for example, al-Ahad(The One), al-Khaliq (The Creator) and

The Last Messenger of the Creator

“On the Day of Judgment, the one who will most provoke the wrath of the Almighty

a man who is named after Malikul-Amlak (lord of all

possessions). There is no Lord but the Supreme Lord."

In Islam, it is forbidden to give names that express

obedience to anyone or anything other than the Almighty.

Giving more than one name is possible, but it's better, as usual

did the Prophet Muhammad

Limit yourself to one.

Of course, when choosing a name in each case

it is necessary to take into account the specifics of this language and this culture.

Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Indeed, the Lord has ninety-nine names. Whoever learns them will enter Paradise.".

Imam al-Nawawi, may Allah have mercy on him, stated the following regarding this hadith: “The scholars unanimously agree that this hadeeth does not imply that Allah has only ninety-nine names, or that He has no other names than these ninety-nine. Rather, the meaning of the hadith is that whoever learns these ninety-nine names will enter Paradise. The meaning is that the one who knows these names will enter Paradise, and not that the number of names is limited. Thus, every truly believing Muslim must know the 99 names of Allah.

The names of the Almighty (Arabic Asma al-Husna - beautiful names) are usually ordered according to the order they are mentioned in the Holy Quran or according to the Arabic alphabet. The name "Allah" - the highest name (al-sim al- "azam), as a rule, is not included in the list and is called the hundredth. Since the Qur'an does not give an unambiguous list of names, in various traditions it may differ in one or two names.

The Qur'an prescribes the use of the names of Allah in prayers, dua, dhikr. In the lists, the names of Allah are usually given with the definite article of the Arabic language "al-". But if any name of Allah in prayer is mentioned not as part of a phrase, but by itself, then instead of “al-” it is pronounced “ya-” (for example, “Ya Jalil” - “Oh, Majestic!”).

“Allah has the most beautiful names. Therefore, call upon Him by means of them, and leave those who deviate from the truth concerning His names.”

Holy Koran. Sura 7 "Al-Araf" / "Fences", ayat 180

“Call on Allah or call on the Merciful! No matter how you call on Him, He has the most beautiful names.”

Holy Koran. Sura 17 "Al-Isra" / "Night Transfer", ayat 110

“He is Allah, and there is no deity but Him, the Knower of the hidden and the obvious, He is the Merciful, the Merciful.

He is Allah, and there is no deity but Him, the Lord, the Holy, the Pure, the Preserver, the Guardian, the Mighty, the Mighty, the Proud. Glory be to Allah and far from what they associate as partners.

He is Allah, the Creator, the Creator, the Giver of form. He has the most beautiful names. That which is in heaven and on earth praises Him. He is the Mighty, the Wise"

Holy Koran. Sura 59 "Al-Hashr" / "Gathering", ayat 22-24

Classification

All 99 names can be conditionally divided into two or three groups according to their features. Firstly, they distinguish between the names of the essence of God (adh-dhāt) and the names of His qualities (aṣ-ṣifāt), and secondly, they distinguish between the origin of the name: traditional names and names that follow directly from the Qur'an or indirectly from it. In the theology of Islam, there are more detailed classifications, in particular, among the names of qualities, the names of mercy and severity, beauty and greatness, and others can differ.

The concepts of "tanzih" (tanzīh) and "tashbih" (tashbīh) reflect the problem of anthropomorphism in Islam. Tanzih means the impossibility of comparing God with man. On the other hand, a person perceives the divine through the prism of his life concepts and possibilities, therefore, he describes God with such names as Independent, Illustrious, etc., corresponding to the tanzikha tradition. Tashbih is the opposite of tanziha, meaning the similarity of something to something. As a religious concept, it means the possibility of describing the divine through qualities created by God. Tashbih includes the names Merciful, Loving, Forgiving, etc. (Based on:
