Today, my brothers, the Holy Church is celebrating the solemn Entry into the Temple of Jerusalem of the three-year-old Maiden Mary - the blessed daughter of the righteous parents Joachim and Anna - for the upbringing of the Lord. Zechariah, the elder high priest, sacredly met Her, accompanied by young virgins, and led Her by the inspiration of the Spirit of God into the very inner part temple, into the Holy of Holies, where once a year the high priest himself entered and where the Most Holy Lord Himself dwelt, for She was to be His Mother according to the flesh.

What did the blessed Virgin spend her time in the temple? Here, gathering together in the house of God, as children of one Heavenly Father, as members of the mystical body of Christ, we learn to love one another as a member of a member, as members of Christ, as Christ Himself.

You see how useful, how necessary it is for a Christian to visit the temple of God - this is a God-established school of faith and piety, this sacred treasury Divine powers life and godliness (2 Pet. 1:3), the treasury of all the mysteries of Christ! But the benefit and necessity of visiting the temple of God for a Christian is more evident from the comparison of the temple with the vain world, in which we love to turn more than in the temple. What do you meet in the world and what - in the temple?

In the world - at almost every step there is vanity, charm, vice; in the temple - only truth, holiness and every virtue; in the world - decay, sin, death; in the temple - the incorruption of the saints and eternal life; outside the temple you see the objects of the vanity of life, feeding the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life (1 John 2:16), you see what people are constantly deceived and captivated by and because of which they neglect the commandments of God, their Creator and Savior; for example, here, in this house, all the variety of fabrics of all colors is sheltered, these fabrics are the object of adoration for the daughters of men - they live with them, they are animated by them, they rejoice with them, but not with God; different products made of silver and gold immediately amaze with their brilliance, seducing the gaze of admirers of everything brilliant and beautiful - in a word, in the world, wherever you look, you almost see one decay, one vanity and sin everywhere; everywhere - earthly and worldly, and empty and vain conversations, and vain deeds, nothing almost reminiscent of heaven, God, life there. Only in the homes of pious people do the icons of the Lord Jesus Christ, His Most Pure Mother and His saints remind those who understand that we are Christians and members of Christ, members of His kingdom, that we look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the future age, in which we will unite with the Lord and with saints, having cleansed himself here of all filthiness of the flesh and spirit.

So you see what a difference there is between the temple, or the house of God, and between the world. You see how useful and necessary it is for a Christian to visit the temple of God in order to educate himself for the Heavenly Fatherland, to instill in himself the spirit of Christ, to form in himself heavenly, holy morals! For where, besides the temple of God, will you hear the word of God; where, besides the temple, they will teach you the sacraments of faith; where will you get the strength to live like a Christian? Everything is in the temple and out of the temple.

Love to visit the temple of God and prepare from yourselves a temple to God, and yourselves, like a stone, build up alive in a spiritual temple, holy holiness, offer up spiritual sacrifices, Jesus Christ is acceptable to God (1 Pet. 2:5). Parents, educators, relatives of children, albeit more often and invariably on all Sundays and holidays they are taken or sent to the temple for public prayer, and not to the theater, not to evenings, where young people learn so early what they should never have known.
