Special Forces weapon. All Kalashnikov assault rifles and their performance characteristics Weapon ak 9

Despite all the similarities with their older brothers AK-47 and AK-74, the design of the AK-12 has several fundamentally new technical solutions.

The design of the machine has undergone major changes. The weapon received a new trigger mechanism, an updated bolt group and a modular design, on the basis of which it is planned to develop up to 20 civilian and military modifications. A third one was added to the single and automatic firing modes - shooting with a three-shot cutoff. A shutter lag (shutter stop) has been introduced, due to which the reload time of the assault rifle will be significantly reduced.

The designers paid a lot of attention to the ergonomics of the machine. Safety, firing modes, magazine release and bolt stop can now be operated with one hand. The reload handle can be installed both on the right and on the left. The machine gun received a new mechanical sight with an enlarged aiming line. The shape of the folding telescopic stock with a height-adjustable pad and butt pad is designed to reduce the recoil shoulder, which promises increased accuracy of fire.

The most noticeable direction in the development of the machine is versatility. Picatinny rails are integrated into the design of the AK-12 for installing additional equipment: optical, night and collimator sights, rangefinders, grenade launchers, tactical lights, target designators. The muzzle device is adapted for firing barrel grenades, including foreign ones. This suggests a priority orientation towards exports. At the same time, the machine fully complies with the modern requirements of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, and the management of Izhmash expressed its readiness to fulfill the state order in any amount. The Ministry of Internal Affairs has already requested a new AK-12 for trial operation.

All three types of AKs of different generations have significant differences. If the AK-47 had a caliber of 7.62, the AK-74 had a caliber of 5.45 mm, then the AK-12 “owns” these two parameters at once: it has interchangeable barrels corresponding to both calibers. From modification to modification, as we see, both the rate of fire (600-650-680 rounds per minute) and the effective range of fire of weapons (800-1,000-1,100 meters) grew. As for the magazine capacity, the AK-12 has twice the capacity of its predecessors.

Undoubtedly, the constant movement in the design of new models is essential for the development of design ideas and weapons production.

Testing, which is already in full swing, should also contribute to the improvement of the prototype. The first of the real consumers of weapons will test the fighters of the special forces of the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

A shortened AK-9 assault rifle for arming special forces of the armed forces and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Silent, flameless, compact assault rifle for covert destruction of various emerging targets and unarmored military equipment at ranges up to 400 m.

In the second half of the 1980s, the designers of the Central Research Institute TochMash developed two versions of a single system of "silent" weapons, unified in terms of parts and assemblies and designed for silent and flameless firing at a distance of up to 400 meters. The system of "silent" special-purpose weapons was represented by a special sniper rifle VSS "Vintorez" and a special machine gun AS "Val", which in 1987 were adopted by various special forces units of the USSR.

During their operation, some shortcomings were revealed:

small resource (5000 shots);
oversized muffler;
the impossibility of firing without a silencer;
the presence in the design of the muffler of the spring, which is separated during disassembly and therefore often lost;
the need for cleaning after a slight shot;
high (in comparison with Kalashnikov assault rifles) cost.

With this in mind, at the beginning of the first decade of the 21st century, Izhmash Concern OJSC, on its own initiative, began work on the creation of a new silent, flameless, compact assault rifle, designated AK-9, designed for the covert destruction of various emerging, moving, open and camouflaged, single and group targets (including those protected by armored vests of the II level of protection) and unarmored military equipment at ranges up to 400 m.

The AK-9 assault rifle was built on the basis of the design of the "hundredth series" of Kalashnikov assault rifles, a feature of which was the use of special 9-mm (9x39) cartridges 7N9, 7N12 (SP-5, SP-6) with a subsonic bullet speed (SP-5, SP- 6).

In terms of the device, the AK-9 as a whole repeats the design of the AK-74M assault rifle, differing in shortened gas engine and barrel assemblies.

May have various modifications. It provides mounts for an underbarrel grenade launcher, a laser sight, tactical lights and other devices.

A quick-detachable device for silent and flameless firing can be installed on the barrel of the machine gun. Shooting is possible, both with a silencer and without it.

The weapon is fed with ammunition from detachable box magazines with a capacity of 20 rounds.

The trigger mechanism allows you to fire single shots and in fully automatic mode. Fuse - fire mode translator is similar to that in the Kalashnikov assault rifle and is located on the right side of the weapon.

On the left side of the receiver is a standard rail for mounting optical collimator and night sights.

The assault rifle can be equipped with a plastic folding butt with a ramrod placed in it, similar to the AK-74M assault rifle, or a metal frame butt, similar to the AKS-74 assault rifle, an ergonomic handle, a special forearm with Picatinny rail-type guides for installing additional equipment (fire control handles, tactical flashlight, laser designator).

The weapon has improved plastic fittings. Ergonomic pistol grips and stock are made of impact-resistant plastic.

The AK-9 assault rifle was primarily developed for arming special units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Russian army.

In 2009, the silent, flameless shooting complex AK-9 was demonstrated to the general public at the ROST-2009 exhibition. At the same time, it was announced about the pilot production of this machine.

Like all Kalashnikov assault rifles, the AK-9 is distinguished by its reliability and ease of use, has a high degree of unification with AK-series assault rifles, which ensured uniformity in handling weapons, and for the manufacturer allows mass production with the maximum use of equipment, tooling and standard technological manufacturing processes of AK assault rifles.

Comparative tests of the AK-9 showed that the assault rifle surpasses the Val (AS) - Vintorez (VSS) complex in terms of the sound level of the shot, dispersion characteristics, versatility of use and some other indicators. During trial operation, an increased weight of the AK-9 compared to the AU was revealed, but at the same time, ease of use of the machine, high efficiency and small dimensions of the silencer, the ability to use the machine without a silencer to accompany and protect goods and people were noted.

In the early 2000s, at the Izhevsk Machine-Building Plant (IzhMash), work began on the creation of a new silent, flameless, compact AK-9 assault rifle.

When creating a new weapon, the developers tried to surpass all analogues available at that time and collect the best that is available in Russian weapons.

The silent, flameless shooting complex AK-9 was based on the Kalashnikov assault rifle, which has proven itself over many decades as the most reliable weapon.

The AK-9 assault rifle was built on the basis of the design of the "hundredth series" of Kalashnikov assault rifles, a feature of which was the use of special cartridges of 9 mm caliber (9x39) with a subsonic bullet speed (SP-5, SP-6).

In terms of the device, the AK-9 as a whole repeats the design of the AK-74M assault rifle, differing in shortened gas engine and barrel assemblies.

May have various modifications. It provides mounts for an underbarrel grenade launcher, a laser sight, tactical lights, and so on.

A quick-detachable device for silent and flameless firing can be installed on the barrel of the machine gun.

The weapon is fed with ammunition from plastic magazines with a capacity of 20 rounds.

The trigger mechanism allows you to fire single shots and in fully automatic mode. The fuse - firing mode translator is similar to that in the Kalashnikov assault rifle and is located on the right side of the weapon.

A Picatinny rail is made on the bottom of the fore-end. It is also possible to install guides on the side.

On the left side of the receiver there is a standard bracket for mounting brackets for optical and night sights.

The machine has improved plastic fittings. Ergonomic pistol grips and stock are made of impact-resistant plastic.

The butt is made according to the type of the AK-74M assault rifle and folds sideways (to the left).

Like all Kalashnikov assault rifles, the AK-9 is reliable and easy to use. In terms of its characteristics, it competes with such systems that had already been adopted by Russia by that time, such as the 9A-91, SR-3M "Whirlwind" and AS "Val" assault rifles.
