Ukrainian Academy of Banking of the National Bank of Ukraine is a state higher educational institution of the National Bank of Ukraine of the IV level of accreditation, located in the city of Sumy. According to the rating of the Academy of Sciences of the Higher School of Ukraine “Sofia Kyiv”, UABD NBU consistently ranks among the top ten best higher economic universities in the state. At the International Exhibition of Educational Institutions “Modern Education in Ukraine - 2002 “The academy was awarded a silver medal and a diploma “For significant contribution to the development of the national education system.”

IN 2004 The university was awarded a bronze medal in the nomination “Innovative pedagogical methods in the educational process”, and in 2005 awarded a bronze statuette as one of the best universities in the state. From the history of the university

The first educational building of the UABD NBU on Sobornaya

In February 1996 a Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine was signed on the creation of the Ukrainian Academy of Banking in the city of Sumy. This did not happen by chance, because the region has long been famous for its traditions in the formation and development of the banking system, and in the middle 90s years of the twentieth century felt an urgent need for young, unbiased personnel for the market economy of independent Ukraine. Since then, intense and painstaking work has been going on to reconstruct the premises of the former school No. 2 (the historical building of the girls' gymnasium). Already at the beginning of the school year ( 1996/1997 ) a completely renovated building in the city center (in T. Shevchenko Square, on Soborna Street) opened its doors to the first students of the academy. Thus, classes began in the first building of the educational institution.

After some time, another building in the center of Sumy was reconstructed for educational purposes. building No. 2. And within a year, a majestic structure was erected nearby and a historical architectural monument, the main building of the academy, was restored.

IN 1998 in UABD, in addition to economics, a law faculty was opened - the only one in Ukraine that trains legal specialists with deep knowledge of economics for the banking and financial sector. On the issues of construction and equipping the educational and material base of the academy, the university has constantly supported and supports the National Bank of Ukraine and the Board of the NBU.

Subsequently, a modern athletics arena was built (total area - 11,586 m²), which, according to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers, was given the status of an Olympic Training Center, a medical and health building, a comfortable hostel-hotel "Olympic", other student dormitories were reconstructed, and a picturesque Student Square was laid out.

Scientific library UABD NBU

December 2009 with the participation of the President of Ukraine, a powerful Scientific Library of the UABD NBU was opened, one of the largest and well-equipped specialized institutions in the CIS. The scientific library has 3 subscriptions, 3 reading rooms, Internet center, multimedia center, student creative laboratory, literary lounge, large and small conference rooms. Organized for library visitors 200 seats and 140 automated workstations. The library has introduced modern radio frequency technologies designed for service and self-service of readers, as well as for preserving books.

In May 2011 On the basis of the Scientific Library of the Academy, with the participation of the Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine, Jose Manuel Pinto Teixeira and many high-ranking ambassadors of EU member countries, the European Union Information Center was opened, which became one of the main sources of information regarding the EU. The center was created to promote research on European integration issues.

In the same year, the Polish-Ukrainian Center was opened in the premises of the Scientific Library of the UABD NBU, which became a kind of Sumy branch of the Polish Consulate at the Academy. The center aims not only to popularize the historical and cultural heritage of the Polish people, but also to establish partnerships with Polish societies that operate in Sumy.

The Academy is rightfully considered not only an educational, but also a powerful scientific center. More 75 % teachers – candidates and doctors of science. The university offers postgraduate and doctoral studies, and has a specialized academic council for the defense of candidate and doctoral dissertations.

Today UABD NBU cooperates with more than 40 foreign universities(joint implementation of scientific projects, grants, joint development of curricula and programs, preparation of scientific articles and monographs, organization of academic exchanges, participation in student exchange programs, participation in international scientific conferences, etc.). The main strategic principle of the academy’s international activities is the internationalization of its educational, scientific and cultural spheres as the basis for integration into the international educational space.

The academy has its own branch - the Sevastopol Institute of Banking of the Ukrainian Academy of Banking of the National Bank of Ukraine. The construction of this powerful, competitive Ukrainian higher education institution was dictated by the realities of life and state policy of independent Ukraine. In September 2010 The Sevastopol Institute of UABD NBU for the first time accepted its students, who began training in four areas: “Finance and Credit”, “Accounting and Audit”, “Economic Cybernetics” and “International Economics”.

The branch of the academy is distinguished not only by the high professional level of its teachers, but also by its strong material and technical base. Already today, students have at their disposal a wonderful academic building with classrooms equipped with the most modern technologies and a majestic assembly hall, two comfortable dormitories, a sports and community building with an excellent dining room, gyms and a swimming pool, a sports complex for beach sports, and a large Student Park.

Boys and girls from all over the country study at the Ukrainian Academy of Banking of the National Bank of Ukraine. They are attracted to an educational institution that has all the conditions for study and recreation. Along with a higher education diploma, graduates receive solid knowledge and are also successfully employed.

Academy structure and capacity

The structure of the academy includes the following faculties:

Specialists are trained 14 departments: banking, finance, accounting, management, theoretical and applied economics, economic cybernetics, higher mathematics and computer science, international economics, state legal disciplines, civil law disciplines and banking law, criminal law disciplines, social and humanitarian disciplines, foreign languages, physical education.

Each faculty trains specialists in a graded education system: bachelors, specialists, masters. It is this system that contributes to the effective training of modern banking specialists and guarantees the continuity and quality of training.

The educational process is based on the use of modern educational technologies. Students are offered classes in educational and training bank "AcademBank", specialized dealing class, educational and training enterprise, internet center, mastery of a modern network technology program Cisco, role-playing games, subject student Olympiads etc.

The Academy has created a modern European-style material and technical base for teaching students: 3 buildings with a total area 35,000 m², which became the decoration of Sumy and were deservedly awarded the State Prize of Ukraine in the field of architecture in 2005. Students have access to classrooms equipped in accordance with the requirements of educational programs and the latest modern technologies. Telecommunication systems and network technologies of the UABD NBU are modern computer equipment with a wide network of users and software and hardware systems, electronic turnstiles, modern telephone communications provided by a departmental telephone network, and many other high-tech projects. The Academy's scientific library is a multifunctional, powerful educational, informational, scientific and sociocultural center with the most modern equipment and a whole range of innovative technologies. A similar library establishment is difficult to find in Ukraine.

All nonresident students are provided with three comfortable dormitories and a fashionable hostel-hotel "Olympiysky". There is an intranet (local network) inside the academy buildings and dormitories. Each academic building and dormitories have canteens and buffets, gyms and sports halls.

The Academy has its own publishing center, which provides a closed cycle for the production of book products for educational, scientific and educational work.

A medical and sanitary unit equipped with modern equipment was built at the NBU UABD. The reception is here 11 highly qualified doctors, physiotherapy, massage, manipulation rooms, as well as a functional diagnostics and ultrasound room, a therapeutic pool, and a modern laboratory. Academy students have the opportunity to receive treatment on site without interrupting their studies.

A powerful sports base has been created at the UABD NBU: a modern sports complex, which includes a universal athletics arena (see above) and a comfortable hostel-hotel "Olympiyskiy", which, according to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, received the status of an Olympic Training Center. In addition, the academy has 11 sports and gyms, a modern swimming pool, a tennis court, sports grounds, a sports club named after Vladimir Golubnichy. For students at the academy there are approximately 20 sports sections, a review-competition of educational groups of the university for the Challenge Cup of the President of Ukraine is held annually. Among the students of UABD NBU there are many sports stars - champions and prize-winners of the world, Europe and Ukraine, champions of the World Universiade, winners of other prestigious competitions.

For significant work on the development of physical education and sports in 2003 The academy was awarded the gold medal of the Committee on Physical Education and Sports of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. IN 2006 according to the results of the All-Ukrainian competition for the best state of physical education and sports in higher educational institutions of Ukraine, UABD NBU took 1st place and was awarded a Cup, diploma and valuable gift from the Sports Student Union of Ukraine and a Certificate of Honor from the Committee on Physical Education and Sports of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

Students

Student life at the academy is very rich and varied. Young people are successfully studying, acquiring deep knowledge and mastering their chosen professions, and are interested in science (for more information, you can visit the student website).

It has become a common occurrence when academy students take prizes at All-Ukrainian Olympiads and scientific conferences. Student government bodies have become a real school of leaders for youth activists.

In addition, boys and girls participate in all cultural and sports events of the academy, which allows them not only to show their academic achievements, but also to open up creatively and show their talents. For example, various interest clubs are constantly functioning at the academy, young journalists are involved in the publication of the newspaper “Academix” and in the work of the youth television studio “Academ-TV”, poets communicate in the literary club “Khvilami Slova”. Caring students are happy to work on the volunteer council, dramatic actors polish their skills in the "Courage" theater studio. The intellectual games club, the Dumka discussion club and other creative associations are also very popular.
