According to the Federal Law "On military duty and military service", the beginning of the service life of a conscripted serviceman is the date of conferring the military rank of "private", which should occur on the day the conscript arrives at the assembly point. Amendments to the Federal Law "On military duty and military service" from January 1, 2008 abolished regular vacations for conscripted servicemen, thereby making it impossible for the command to encourage conscientious servicemen with early dismissal. Today, the term of service in the Russian army is exactly 12 months (neither a day earlier, nor a day later). There are cases when the command goes to meet the soldier and releases him from the location of the unit a few days earlier, but such situations are rare and are possible only if the commander takes them under personal responsibility.
