Making his way deep into the city, the hero receives meager grains of information about what is happening and very often dies - mainly because the person who controls him does not know how to play.

Why buy

Bloodborne is a game that torments the user with frequent deaths, forcing them to go through the same trials ten times. The reward for suffering is not only experience that needs to be spent on character development, but also a strong sense of triumph. The more painfully they carry you with your muzzle on the floor, the brighter the emotions after killing some particularly strong enemy; the effect is close to narcotic. There are very few complex and at the same time interesting games released a year, and there are practically no such stylish and exciting games as Bloodborne.

What is it

Three criminals direct traffic in the city of Los Santos, which was invented by the developers specifically for the game - but at the same time quite meticulously repeats the architecture and sights of the real Los Angeles. One lives in a local analogue of Compton, the other brews meth in the desert, the third seems to have realized the American dream, but, as Shnur sang, “something is not right.”

Why buy

Everything about Grand Theft Auto 5 is great, from gunplay and heist to story and driving. This is perhaps the only open world game that is fun to just wander around and stare around. The city of Los Santos is designed in such a way that the environment behaves self-sufficiently, life is in full swing here, something is constantly happening, and the player is just another passerby who was allowed to walk and ride here. The next-gen console version adds a first-person perspective that's a little like walking around Los Santos at night.

What is it

First there was a bright future and the era of cosmic discoveries, and then the Darkness came, and it all ended - here the action of Destiny begins. The plot is very conditional: the assistant drone, voiced by Peter Dinklage (see the Game of Thrones series), makes grandiloquent speeches, after which you have to run somewhere and kill everyone. Preferably with friends.

Why buy

Destiny is a stunningly beautiful game with excellent shooting; of all space games, perhaps only Destiny gives you the feeling of being on uncharted planets. And then, only here you can drive across Mars on a futuristic motorcycle in the company of a couple of friends, shouting over the headset, who is faster over there to that bump. When you get tired of completing missions, you can go to raids (one such run will take from four to six hours) or fight with other players in competitive modes. Destiny does not plan to end there either: one addition has already been released, the second is on the way, and the developers say that the game will live for ten years. If you want, it's like a console World of Warcraft, only about space and shooting.

What is it

First-person shooter with role-playing elements. The protagonist of Far Cry 4 returns to his native Kirat to scatter his mother's ashes in the mountains. A seemingly simple task turns into a massacre: a civil war is going on in the country, where the rebels are at war with the impostor king Pagan Ming. Far Cry 4 is a sandbox game: for each story task, a dozen secondary tasks fall here - if you wish, you can go to Kirat for a month or even more.

Why buy

Far Cry 4 skillfully pulls the strings of the conquering players: you start the war as a complete nonentity and gradually turn into a skilled saboteur. Kyrat is gradually freed from the king's army, checkpoint after checkpoint - it's nice to see how the country comes under your control. At any time, you can turn away from the story missions and entertain yourself with hunting, racing and treasure hunting. In the local valleys there are wild honey badgers - fiends that kill even the strongest players - and elephants that you can saddle and go ram enemies.

Associative series: grandfathers fought, alternative history, first-person shooting

What is it

According to the plot of New Order, the scenario of the Second World War turned into an unexpected direction and stretched out for several more years; on the side of the Third Reich, fighting vehicles are fighting with the Allies. The protagonist receives a head injury and becomes a vegetable for more than ten years, and when he comes to his senses, he finds out that the war is lost and the world has changed forever. New Order is both a sequel and a reboot of an old shooter. About Hitler in an exoskeleton and, in fact, the Wolfenstein castle is almost not reminded here: the sixties are in the yard.

Why buy

A decent plot, lively characters, a general mood close to Tarantino's Inglourious Bastards. More important, however, is something else: New Order is an excellent choice for those who like to shoot and enjoy it. This is a shooter in the original sense of the word: you are not loaded with tasks, dialogues; no open world - just levels with points "A", "B" and secrets, like in the old days. Shooting is simply brilliant: of all modern shooters, only Wolfenstein inspires the player that he is a huge man with shotguns in each hand, which rumble, smoke and spew flames into the faces of opponents. The Germans scream, jump off to the sides and fall apart into smoking pieces of meat. Cool!

When The Last of Us came out on PlayStation 3, there was a bulletproof lobby around the game, shouting on every corner that it was the best game ever. This is not to say that the game will give you some new experience: formally, this is still a game about zombies that you need to hide from, and bandits that you need to shoot. Another thing is important: The Last of Us is a very high-quality and beautiful game, in which tense interactive and touching drama of the highest standard have merged in equal proportion.

What is it

Fast paced 2D platformer about a boy with a skateboard. The task of each OlliOlli 2 level is to score a certain number of points and do some tricks. It's not easy: it's worth pressing the wrong button, as the hero immediately breaks his face on the asphalt.

Why buy

OlliOlli 2 is ideal for those cases when there is no time, but you want to play. Even in ten minutes you can do something cool here: learn a trick, set a record, open a new level. The game is made according to old patterns, so you will learn from your own mistakes. However, the irritation and spent nerves are worth it: when the ward skater gives out a series of crazy tricks, after which he lands perfectly on the asphalt, you are overwhelmed with pride.

What is it

Fierce psychedelic top-down action. The main character of Hotline Miami is called by strange people and asked to pick up things from the dry cleaners, then help the guests - or, in simple terms, come to the appointed address and kill everyone there. In Hotline Miami, one-hit or one-shot kills add to the spice of the game; the wild rhythm of what is happening is fueled by an energetic soundtrack.

Why buy

Hotline Miami goes on a frenzy: you hit people with metal pipes, chop them with axes and piss them in the toilet with a shotgun; a series of brutal murders flies in front of you like a kaleidoscope and drives you into a trance. The game is very difficult, but never vile: having run into someone's knife, you know that you yourself are to blame. Therefore, it is interesting to go around in a circle: you always understand that somewhere you can prove yourself even better. Each level of Hotline Miami takes no more than five minutes, and this is another advantage of the game: it can be played both drunkenly and in short sessions.
