Villas in las americas. Playa de Las Americas - the main resort of Tenerife Tenerife holidays las americas

Playa de las Americas is a popular tourist resort located on the southwest coast of Tenerife. The resort was built in the 1960s and stretches west of Costa Adeje. The sun almost all year round and many sandy beaches (sand was brought specially from Africa) attract thousands of tourists here. In addition, duty-free shops, restaurants with excellent seafood dishes, an aqua park and the prestigious resort of Los Cristianos in the neighborhood are at the service of vacationers.

First of all, Playa de las Americas is known for its sandy beaches - there are six of them in the city, each can offer a lot of opportunities for water sports, including jet skiing and scuba diving. The main beach has calm waters, great for families with children, while Playa de Guincho is a favorite spot for surfers and windsurfers. In addition, Playa de las Americas is considered the capital of parties in Tenerife: cocktails, clubs and karaoke are commonplace. There are also a couple of casinos here. Nightlife centers are located in the districts of Veronikas, Starko and Patch - sophisticated connoisseurs will find here modern nightclubs, cabarets, concert venues, etc.

Half an hour drive from Playa de las Americas is the territory of the Teide National Park with the volcano of the same name, one of the largest in the world, the main attraction of the island of Tenerife. You can climb to the top of the volcano (3718 m) along specially equipped trails or by cable car. In any case, the views from the top will not leave anyone indifferent!

You should definitely visit the Central Park of Arona, opened in 2004 and spread over an area of 42,000 square meters - it attracts with several squares, children's playgrounds and picnic areas. On its territory you can also see a collection of tropical and Canarian plants, including 40 species of palms, a dragon tree and several baobabs.

Also in Playa de las Americas, you can find an excellent golf course (in the very center of the resort) or go on one of the many sea excursions - watch dolphins and whales, take a trip to a pirate ship or dive to the seabed in a yellow submarine.

January holiday experience

Holidays in the resort of Playa de Las Americas in January are quite comfortable. Air temperature around 20-25 degrees, sunny. Many people on the beaches not only sunbathe, but also swim, although, in my opinion, the water is cold at this time of the year. In winter, it is very pleasant to travel around the island, although in the center of Tenerife, in the region of the Teida volcano, roads can be blocked at this time of the year due to snow and ice. Also in winter, there is a high probability of strong winds or prolonged rain.

Why is it better to relax in May?

A few years ago we were vacationing in Las Americas in May, and it seemed to me that May was a better holiday than January. Firstly, in May, the ocean is already warmer and the air temperature is higher, which makes it possible to spend time on the beach with great pleasure. Secondly, visiting water parks and water attractions also takes place in more comfortable conditions. I think that September and October should also be good months to visit the resort, as there are fewer tourists at this time of the year, but the weather is nice and warm.

Vacation with children

Many parents with children fly to Tenerife in winter or early spring when they want warmth and sun, and this is the right choice. Firstly, this is Europe, with the corresponding service, food, shops, etc. No need to bring baby food, etc. - everything can be bought here. Secondly, the flight from Moscow lasts only 7 hours, which is much less than to Southeast Asia or the Caribbean. When traveling to the Canary Islands, you do not need to do special vaccinations and you can not be afraid of exotic infections. Tenerife has a huge hotel base for every taste and budget, a lot of apartments and aparthotels, which makes it easier to solve everyday problems that arise when relaxing with children. The developed infrastructure of the Playa de Las Americas resort makes it possible to visit interesting amusement parks and water parks with children.

Family holiday

Tenerife, to be honest, is mainly intended for family holidays, young people will be bored here. But couples with or without children will be comfortable here. Since often the main purpose of a trip to Las Americas is to relax on the beach, many families will already have enough wide sandy beaches and modern comfortable hotels to feel happy. Another point that vacationers like is the gastronomic component of the holiday. It's very tasty here. And for those families who cannot sit still, there is an opportunity to travel safely. Men can go fishing.

Recreation for the elderly

There are a lot of elderly Europeans in Playa de Las Americas. They are attracted by a rather mild climate, the absence of sweltering heat, as well as many amenities that make life easier for people of age. For example, all beaches in Las Americas are equipped with wheelchair ramps. In addition, the resort is quite calm, there are not a lot of noisy young people here.

What to take with you on vacation?

On vacation, it is best to take casual clothes, comfortable shoes for traveling and hiking, swimwear and swimming trunks, sunblock. Take a light windbreaker with you in case of strong winds.

Where is the best place to stay?

Playa de Las Americas is a fairly respectable resort, so there are many 4-5 star hotels here. As a rule, they are located directly on the beach or very close to it. It often happens that the hotel is located on the coast, but not on the beach, so if you do not want to climb up the mountain or walk to the nearest beach for 5-10 minutes, carefully study this issue. The part of the city closer to Playa de Los Cristianos is more developed in terms of entertainment and infrastructure, although, in principle, the distances here are not very large. Many families choose apartments, such as Parque Santiago or Parque La Paz. Of the budget hotels, Sol Tenerife is very good. As for expensive hotels, they usually fully correspond to the declared category, and you can choose any of them based on personal preferences or location.

What to do at the resort?

In addition to a beach holiday in Tenerife, there are many opportunities for entertainment. In close proximity to the resort is one of the largest water parks in Europe - Siam Park, as well as the older one - Aqualand. There are also several animal and plant parks - Monkey Park, Jungl Park, Cactus Park. In the evening you can visit the concert hall "Piamida of Arona", which hosts musical theatrical performances, very bright and dynamic. In some restaurants and clubs you can watch flamenco dance. Fans of sea walks can ride a yacht or a catamaran, go surfing. Those who have the time and desire for longer trips can visit the visiting card of the island - the Teida volcano, or the famous parrot park Loro Parque.

The beaches in Las Americas are bays separated by breakwaters with gray sand. The sand is usually quite coarse, sometimes there are small pebbles. In general, for an amateur. The water, even in summer, is much cooler than in the Mediterranean Sea. Along the beach there is a promenade, on which there are numerous restaurants, bars and cafes. As a rule, there is a toilet on the beach. Part of the beach is occupied by sun loungers and umbrellas at a price of 10-15 euros per set per day. Therefore, most vacationers use a portable umbrella and mats.

The bulk of the shops in Playa de Las Americas are concentrated in the area of \u200b\u200bthe concert hall "Pyramid of Arona" and next to the Bahia del Duque hotel. Prices for everything are resort prices, designed for tourists, i.e. high. Therefore, if you want shopping to be more intelligent and interesting, then you should go to the capital of the island, Santa Cruz de Tenerife. There are several shopping centers here, as well as the El Corte Ingles department store.

Entertainment

In this section, I would like to list prices for some popular entertainment in Las Americas. So, Siam Park water park. The price of an entrance ticket for an adult is 34 euros, for a child - 23 euros. Same prices in Loro Parque. If you buy a double ticket to visit these two parks, you will save 10 euros. Entrance to the Jungle park costs 24 euros for adults and 17 for children. Ascent by funicular to the Teida volcano - 26 and 13 euros, respectively.

Pros of staying in Playa de Las Americas

The main advantage of the resort of Playa de Las Americas is that you can come here at any time of the year and have a great rest. It has all the necessary tourist infrastructure, a pleasant atmosphere, and a variety of entertainment. I like that the resort is calm and safe, the ocean is clean, there are a lot of various entertainments at affordable prices. And living on the island is inexpensive.

Cons of staying in Playa de Las Americas

The disadvantages of holidays in Playa de Las Americas include a 7-hour flight and often high airfare prices. In addition, this is just a resort place, so if you do not get out of it, then you will not see anything informative, authentic and typically Canarian.

Should you visit Playa de Las Americas?

Of course, this is a place worth visiting. Firstly, it is the most developed and interesting island of the Canary archipelago. Here, European service, good climate and an interesting excursion program. As an alternative to Playa de Las Americas, you can consider the island of Gran Canaria. The resort has a lot of Russian-speaking staff, which facilitates the rest of tourists who do not speak foreign languages.

Playa de las Amerikas is the largest and most popular resort in the south of Tenerife. Every year, thousands of travelers choose it for their vacation. And this is no coincidence, since it has an excellent combination of quality beaches, developed infrastructure and hotels of various levels. How to organize your vacation in Las Americas, let's try to figure it out in this article.

Despite the fact that we did not live in Playa de Las America, we were regular visitors. After all, the entire resort life of the island is concentrated in it. There is a large selection of restaurants, cafes, many supermarkets, shopping centers and small shops. There are many tour agencies in this resort. And most importantly, it is easy to get to any city on the island from here.

Playa de Las Americas is located at a distance of 20 km. and 80 km. from the island's capital city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Like many resort towns, it is represented by leisure facilities and hotel complexes. On the one hand, Las Americas borders (along Mount Chayofita), and on the other - with (along the riverbed of the Barranco de Troya). True, this border is very arbitrary, because walking along the coast, you will not notice it. Currently, all three resorts have practically merged into one large tourist destination.

Las Americas has been actively developing since the 70s of the last century. It is hard to imagine, but then there was nothing for tourists. The first Gran Tenerife hotel was built in 1971. Since then, it has been updated and improved many times. It still functions and if you wish, you can spend your vacation in it. Gradually, Las Americas expanded, new infrastructure appeared. The appearance of the airport in the south of Tenerife breathed new strength into the resort.

Unlike other resorts in Las Americas, you can meet Russian tourists. Local entrepreneurs are also adapting to this factor and offer a menu in Russian in cafes. Some of them even have Russian-speaking employees. And in hotels there are still few people who know Russian. So basic knowledge of English will come in handy, or, as an option, an indispensable Google translator.

Las Americas has a very beautiful and well-equipped promenade. Let's walk around a little and see the surroundings. On the embankment you can see a lot of people running.

While walking, look around. Pay attention to the creative sculpture in the photo above. There are also located right along the sea. They enjoy well-deserved attention from photographers.

Another creative idea. Benches are installed along the embankment, you can sit down and take a break from a walk.

And it already looks like a stone statue created by nature itself. She reminds me of a lion.

Along the waterfront you can also find playgrounds.

The Las Americas promenade is a cozy place. It is pleasant to walk here, breathe the sea air and admire the beautiful Canary landscapes.

Weather

Las Americas is considered a year-round resort. But in winter it is not at all hot here. The air temperature averages 20-23 degrees, the sun is much hotter. There is almost no precipitation, the weather is good and sunny. Many swim and sunbathe. But in winter, the ocean cools down to 19 degrees. For those who like to swim in hot water, it will not be very comfortable to swim. Pools come to the rescue, which are in almost every hotel. And here sunburn lays down in the winter well. The peak season in Las Americas is July-August, when the holiday season begins for many Europeans. If you don't want crowds, it's best to avoid these months.

Entertainment and attractions

There are no historical sights in the young resort, but entertainment for every taste and budget. Las Americas is considered the most party place on the island, as many nightclubs and bars are concentrated here. Therefore, it is here that young people often go on vacation. The noisiest places are located near hotels and. But older people prefer quieter resorts.

The main entertainment of the resort can be safely attributed to:

  1. with a variety of water slides and attractions.
  2. More relaxed Aqualand, which is more suitable for children.
  3. The medieval castle of San Miguel, where you can go on a tour.

Nearby theme parks:

  1. Eagle Park (Jungle park)
  2. Monkey park
  3. Camel park (camel park)

On the beach you can ride a jet ski or a banana, and in the evening listen to live music in one of the restaurants. Part of the vacation can be taken to. You can get to know some of it yourself.

shopping

Shopping lovers should visit Avenida de Las Americas, where Parque Santiago II and Safari shopping centers are located. This avenue is also called the "golden mile" because all the world's brands are represented on it.

And after shopping, you can get vivid impressions in the Pyramid of Arona concert hall, created in the antique style, or have dinner in one of the cafes. In the evening, the avenue is illuminated by the lights of a singing fountain. But do not tune in to a grand show, like in Barcelona, everything is simple here.

Hotels and apartments

The resort has many hotels of different levels. I have compiled a selection of good hotels and apartments by category depending on your budget.

High end hotels:

  • Las madrigueras is a small new hotel with architecture in the form of a monarch's residence. Not suitable for families with children, but will be an excellent choice for people who are fond of golf
  • Cleopatra palace is a hotel with a great location, delicious food and excellent service.
  • Mediterranean Palace is a chic hotel with a cozy atmosphere, a large pool and a spa complex. Just a couple of minutes walk to the beach.

Cheap hotels:

  • Catalonia Oro Negro
  • Hotel Caledonia Udalla Park
  • Hotel Central Center
  • Sol Tenerife
  • Tropical Playa

Staying in an apartment will help you save money on vacation. They are equipped with a kitchen and it will be possible to cook for yourself by buying groceries from local supermarkets. What if book an apartment via the link, then you can get $25 for your first booking.

Beaches and photos

One of the most popular beaches is the beach of the same name, Playa de las Americas. This is a wide beach with all the necessary infrastructure.

Next to it is Honda Beach (Playa Honda). Its main disadvantages are waves and pebbles.

And the last beach is Playa del Camison (Playa del Caminson is located closer to Los Cristianos. It is protected on both sides by bulk dams, so the ocean is calm here, without waves. The beach is covered with yellow sand brought from the Sahara. This beach is often chosen by families with children who relax in the resort.Lovers not to sit still can ride on water modes of transport.

How to get there

The nearest South Airport can be reached by bus No. 111, No. 450, No. 343. On the latter, you can also get to the North Airport, located near Santa Cruz de Tenerife. If public transport is not suitable for you for one reason or another, you can book cheap taxi in advance or rent a car right at the airport.

Map

On the map below you will find the main attractions and beaches of Tenerife. The map will be helpful when planning your trip.

I settled in the Royal Cliff Garden - this apartment is located 1 minute from the ocean and 2-3 minutes walk from the so-called Golden Mile in Playa De Las Americas.

The location was excellent, the only significant minus in these apartments is VERY slow internet, but the exit from the apartment is right 300 meters from the public beach.

To be honest, for the first time I saw the Ocean, the bay where the exit from the apartment was excellent - with good sand and almost no waves, since there were breakwaters there. In the morning it was hard to get into the water, it was about 18 degrees. Unfortunately, one of the disadvantages of the Canary Islands is the cold ocean. Only in the evening the water warmed up a little and I began to swim in it.

One of the disadvantages of Playa De Las Americas for a young girl is a weak nightlife, there are very few clubs and bars, and there are few young people on the beach and around. Mostly couples or European pensioners have a rest. I also really like green vegetation, there is little of it in the south of the island - but in the north there are stunning beautiful forests, but more on that later.

There is also a colorful city in the north, similar in inhabitants and climate to the Latin American city - the city of Santa Cruz and La Laguna, although I have never been there.

Here are a couple of photos from La Laguna - Street and Basilica (after mainland Spain, of course, this architecture is not so impressive anymore):

In Santa Cruz, few people speak English, but there are many young people, a small walking street like the Moscow Arbat, green hills around, air humidity is higher. The atmosphere is mesmerizing, and the food in the cafe is 1.5 times cheaper. I even wanted to stay there. There is also a large mall where you can shop.
