History reference
Kazan International Airport was built in the 1930s within the city. In 1972, a project was approved for the construction of a new air hub of international importance. The construction was completed after 7 years, and the airport was put into operation. Then it had the name "Kazan-2", since it was located on a new territory - 26 km from the capital. And already in 1985 he was given the status of an international airport of the first class.
The infrastructure and technical base of the airport were constantly improved, and the route network was steadily expanding. In 1986 it was renamed into Kazan International Airport. A year later, the first international flight to Berlin was carried out on a Tu-154 aircraft. During this period, international flights began to be serviced.
The airport is currently undergoing modernization, which will continue until 2025. Within its framework, a new terminal 1A was built and put into operation.

How to get there
Kazan International Airport is located 26 kilometers southeast of the city. The location of the airport is the Laishevsky district of the Republic of Tatarstan.

Bus number 97 runs to the airport. It departs from the Novosavinovsky district, from the Sotsgorod stop. The ticket price is 39 rubles. Travel time from the first to the final stop will be approximately 1.5 hours. Buses between the city and the airport run from 5 am to 11 pm.
If you use a private car, the route should be built through the Orenburg tract. It will be necessary to drive through the settlements of Big and Small Boars. You can leave your car in the free parking lot located near the VIP terminal. Opposite terminals 1 and 1A parking is paid.
You can get to the airport by taxi, the price of which will be approximately 500 rubles.
Also, the Lastochka electric train runs daily between the airport and the city. Travel time is 20 minutes. The train departs from Kazansky railway station 9 times a day - 00:15, 08:00, 10:00, 12:00, 14:00, 16:00, 18:00, 20:00, 22:00. The railway station is connected to the airport building by a pedestrian gallery.

The older terminal 1 serves regional flights across the Volga region and the CIS.
As for the separate terminal number 2, it serves VIP passengers. It has only been used since 2005.
Kazan airport has 30 aircraft parking spaces. For the reception and departure of airliners, two modern cement concrete runways are used. One lane is 3.75 meters long and 60 meters wide. The second lane is slightly shorter - 3.72 meters - and 45 meters wide.
For the entire period of operation of the Kazan airport, only one aviation incident was recorded. This happened on 10/17/2013 with a Boeing 737 aircraft, which belonged to the Tatarstan airline. The car carried passengers from Moscow to Kazan. When entering the runway of the airport "Kazan" the device crashed. There were 6 crew members and 44 passengers on board. As a result of the disaster, no one survived.
