Automobile traffic signs with names. All traffic signs of the Russian Federation. Parking Direction

Changes made in accordance with the resolution
Government of the Russian Federation
dated October 24, 2014 No. 1097.

Warning signs inform drivers that they are approaching a dangerous section of the road, the movement of which requires the adoption of measures appropriate to the situation.
The numbering of road signs corresponds to GOST R 52290-2004.

Road sign information

A road sign, or a traffic sign, is a graphic drawing made in accordance with certain standards and installed along the road in order to bring this or that information to the attention of traffic participants.

The role of road signs in ensuring traffic safety is extremely large: they inform drivers about dangerous sections of the road, oblige them to slow down, prohibit overtaking where it is associated with increased risk, and perform many other useful tasks.
Modern standards that determine the appearance of road signs, as well as markings and traffic lights, came into force in our country on January 1, 2006. The updated signs fully comply with the UN Convention on Road Signs and Signals, the latest European standards in the relevant field.

Detailed questions,
related to road signs define eight categories:

  • warning:
    are triangles with a white background, red edging and black drawings.
    Designed to warn road users about the danger;
  • right-of-way signs:
    determine the order of passage of bottlenecks and intersections;
  • prohibition and limit signs:
    are made in the form of a white circle with a red border and a black pattern. Prohibit certain actions;
  • prescriptive signs:
    have a round shape, a blue background and white drawings.
    Prescribe the performance of certain actions;
  • signs of special prescriptions;
  • information signs:
    have a rectangular shape and blue (sometimes green) color.
    Used to inform road users about the location of the lanes,
    the nature of the road, service enterprises and much more;
  • information and guidance signs and direction indicators;
  • additional signs (plates):
    complement the main characters listed above, never used separately.
    They have a rectangular shape and a white background color, the pattern and edging are black.

The current version of the Rules of the Road determines the priority of signs
before . If the markings and road signs contradict each other, the driver must be guided by the requirements of the latter.

What do we see most often on the roads? Marking, traffic lights, queues of cars. But there are certain signs that the driver must pay attention to without fail. It's about signs. What are they needed for?

Signs are a very important part of the rules of the road. They are mandatory. This is done not only for yourself, but also for your loved ones and just those around you. After all, if you follow the traffic rules and look at the road signs, you can protect yourself from the occurrence of accidents and other unpleasant moments that have recently been increasingly occurring on the roads.

Not only drivers of different categories should know them, but also pedestrians, who very often do not pay attention to them, and sometimes do not know what this or that sign means. In this article, we will consider the main types of traffic signs.

They are divided into eight categories, each of which is intended to familiarize drivers with certain information. We will consider in detail what types of road signs exist, the characteristic features of each group of signs, as well as their main purpose.

Categories of traffic signs

On the territory of our country, there are the following types or groups of road signs:

  • warning labels;
  • traffic priority signs;
  • prohibition and limiting signs;
  • signs prescribing certain actions;
  • signs that cancel or introduce certain traffic modes (special regulations);
  • information road signs;
  • signs informing about road service facilities;
  • plates with additional information.

Each of these types of road traffic signs has a certain shape, color background, symbols and / or inscriptions. In addition, all plates have a digital indicator. The first number is the category, the second is the group's internal number, and the third is the species.

You can not divide them into minor or major. The types of road signs discussed below are equally important. They are all intended to inform about any information or prohibition.

Warning

Characteristic features of this type of road signs are a triangular shape, a white background on which symbols are depicted in black paint, as well as a red frame.

According to the rules, warning signs are installed at a distance of 50/100 meters in front of a dangerous area, in rural or urban areas, or outside settlements. If for some reason it is not possible to install a sign at an appropriate distance, then the distance (in meters) to the danger zone is indicated in the lower part. They are easy to confuse with others due to their design.

There are also cruciform and rectangular warning signs. They are installed according to certain rules and regulations. For example, signs indicating railway tracks with a barrier (1.1), without a barrier (1.2), a drawbridge (1.9), exit to the embankment (1.10) and others are installed purely outside the city or village.

The distance of installation of signs relative to the dangerous area should be at least 50 meters. Signs informing about road works (1.23) and wild animals (1.25) are mounted directly on the emergency site.

Signs "Roundabout" (1.7), "Ejection of gravel" (1.17) and "Intersection with a bicycle path" (1.22) warn that there is no roundabout or pedestrian crossing further in the direction. Sometimes they are accompanied by additional signs of other categories.

Priority character group

Priority plates indicate traffic that is considered superior to other directions. As a rule, this type of road signs can be seen at the intersection of roads and other similar sections. Most often in places with difficult traffic. Regulatory marks are also installed on narrow sections of the road.

Most often, a sign announcing that subsequent movement is prohibited without a mandatory stop (2.5) can be found near railway crossings and barriers. It is needed to avoid collision with trains.

In some cases, on the roadway you can see a traffic light and a regulatory sign, in rare cases - a sign and a traffic controller. In such situations, the priority is given to the traffic controller or traffic lights. It is worth being especially careful, because when the traffic light is off, you need to focus on the installed sign.

Forbidding

As the name of the category implies, this type of traffic sign notifies the road user about prohibiting actions. But these signs, in turn, are divided into limiting and prohibiting.

Limiting signs allow you to continue moving as carefully as possible, and prohibiting signs inform you about strictly prohibited passage.

Prohibition signs always have a round shape, a white background, on which a certain image is displayed in black paint. Only four signs of this subgroup have a blue background. In addition, there are four more black and white signs notifying the driver about the permission of the previously prohibited movement.

The signs in this group tend to be the hardest to learn, as there are some exceptions to restrictive and prohibition signs. They apply to certain types of vehicles. And it is also very often difficult to understand the territory of the sign of this category.

Exceptions for the prohibition type of signs

We list the features of the prohibiting group of signs:

  1. The included special signals or red-blue lights indicate that the driver is performing some kind of official assignment. In such situations, it is allowed to ignore any prohibition sign.
  2. Signs announcing the minimum distance limit (3.16), customs (3.17.1), danger (3.17.2), control point (3.17.3), prohibition of overtaking (3.20), minimum speed limit (3.24) must be taken into account by all motorists.
  3. Signs informing about the prohibition of entry (3.1), movement (3.2), movement of motor vehicles (3.3), turn right (3.18.1), left (3.18.2), U-turn (3.19) and stop (3.27) do not apply to fixed-route taxis.
  4. Signs on the prohibition of movement (3.2), the movement of mechanical vehicles (3.3), trucks (3.4), motorcycles (3.5), tractors (3.6), transport with a trailer (3.7), horse-drawn carts (3.8), as well as prohibited parking ( 3.28), on odd days (3.29), on even days (3.30) postal vehicles can be ignored.
  5. Signs with numbers 3.3 to 3.30 may be ignored by drivers carrying disabled people of groups I and II.
  6. Instructions 3.6-3.8 do not apply to employees of enterprises and factories that are located in the zone of action of the plate.
  7. Signs 3.29-3.30 do not apply to taxi drivers with a taximeter turned on.
  8. The sign on the prohibition of giving a sound signal (3.26) does not apply to cases when it is necessary to prevent an accident.
  9. The prohibition of overtaking (3.20) does not apply to slow-moving vehicles, horse-drawn vehicles, bicycles, mopeds and two-wheeled motorcycles with no side trailer.

Expiration of the prohibition sign

It is often quite difficult to understand where the action of one or another prohibition sign ends. Four rules will help you with this:

  1. Some signs are valid only up to the first intersection.
  2. If a specific sign is installed in a rural or urban area, then its effect ends outside the settlement (this place is indicated by a crossed-out plate with the name of the settlement).
  3. Sometimes the coverage area is indicated on the sign itself.
  4. Plate 3.31 means the removal of all previous restrictions.

prescriptive

The action of this type of road signs applies to absolutely all its participants. Such warnings can inform about the side of the permitted movement, the maximum speed and direction of movement of special vehicles. In addition, prescriptive signs may indicate that cyclists or pedestrians are allowed to move.

Almost all plates of this group have a round shape, a blue background with a printed pictogram.

Some characteristic features of the group of prescriptive signs

We list the features of the considered type of road signs and their meaning:

  1. Signs 4.1.1-4.1.6 inform about the direction of traffic at a particular intersection.
  2. Plates with numbers 4.1.3, 4.1.5 and 4.1.6 allow turning.
  3. The validity of signs numbered 4.1.1-4.1.6 does not apply to buses and fixed-route taxis.

What types of road signs are there, in addition to the above?

Signs of special regulations

There are sections of the road where it is impossible to install generally accepted signs of traffic rules. It is in such cases that signs of special regulations are used, which notify motorists of unusual driving modes.

The plates of this group have a square or rectangular shape. The background of the sign may be green, blue or white.

  1. Signs announcing the beginning of the settlement (5.23.1 and 5.23.2), as well as at the end of the settlement (5.24.1 and 5.24.2), are installed on the territory that is relevant for these traffic rules.
  2. Signs with numbers 5.25 and 5.26 inform about the beginning or end of the settlement, on the territory of which traffic rules are not valid.
  3. The effect of signs informing about the place of the beginning of a section of the road with prohibited parking (3.27), about the zone of regulated parking (3.29), about the section of the road with a limited maximum speed (5.31) and about the beginning of the pedestrian zone, applies to the specific area where they are installed.

Information boards

The signs of this group are necessary to inform motorists about various settlements, as well as their location.

Such plates always have a rectangular shape, but the main color differs depending on the subgroup.

For example, green signs are installed on highways. White signs indicate the objects of a certain settlement, and yellow ones notify about the repair of the road. Blue signs are installed to clarify routes outside the city.

Additional information plates

Signs of this category are necessary for more detailed information of motorists. They are used as a supplement to the main ones. It follows that they cannot be used on their own. The rules state that no more than three signs can be attached to the main plate.

In situations where an additional plate disputes the main one, the motorist must continue to move according to the instructions of the temporary sign. As a rule, this category is established at the time of road repair.

We know about 8 types of road signs, which category was not mentioned by us?

Category of service marks

It is easy to guess from the name that these signs draw attention to various points, for example, a gas station or a repair shop.

Pointers of this group are installed within the city directly next to the object, and outside the city or in the countryside - at a distance of 400 meters to 80 kilometers.

Special group - road signs for children

As soon as the child begins to move independently around the village, he begins to pay attention to road signs. For children, the following are common:

  • "Tram stop place";
  • "Children";
  • "Bus stop";
  • "Crosswalk";
  • "No entry".

When you have to travel or walk with your parents, different signs catch the eye of an inquisitive child. If the kid still cannot read, then he will look at the inscriptions on the pillars, but will not be able to understand them.

But the bright traffic signs are sure to attract his attention. Therefore, it is better to teach and teach a child from childhood. You can explain to him the simplest pointers, building interesting associations about them.

In general, there is no separate type of road signs for children. This means that parents should independently teach their children simple truths. For example, every kid should know that you need to cross the road only in specially designated places and only at the green traffic light.

Now everyone who has read the article will easily answer the question of how many types of road signs there are. More detailed information about specific signs is in the SDA.

Finally, note that the rules have become clearer lately. Let's hope that in the future we will receive more quality innovations.
