Biblical expressions in our daily speech. Bible Truths and the Nature of History Our Spirit and Soul Leave the Body at Physical Death

The believer and the unbeliever use expressions from the Bible in their daily lives. The compiler of the Eternal Truths dictionary, Valery Melnikov, notes the surprising breadth of the use of Biblical quotations not only in the ordinary speech of ordinary people, but also in works of art, in newspapers, radio, etc. Even in atheistic Soviet Russia, official communist slogans were popular, unknowingly taken from the Bible: “Let's beat swords into plowshares”, “Who does not work, he does not eat” ...

Of course, over time, many biblical expressions have lost their original meaning. For example, citing the well-known expression from the Gospel: “Man does not live by bread alone,” few people remember the second half of the verse, “but by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord,” and hardly with intent, but most likely out of ignorance.

Below are some popular expressions that are taken from the Bible and are used by us in everyday speech.

The expression is used in relation to people detached from the realities of life, eccentrics.

Pharisaism(hypocrisy). The Pharisees are a religious and political party in ancient Judea, whose representatives were supporters of the ostentatious strict execution of the ritual aspects of the Jewish religion. doubting Thomas(doubting person). The Apostle Thomas did not immediately believe in the resurrection of Christ: “Unless I see in His hands the marks of the nails, and put my finger into the marks of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe” (John 20:25). True
In the Bible there are no disputes about I., similar to those conducted by philosophers. Pilate's question: "What is truth?" - immediately exposed in its deep untruth as an actual flight from I., who just appears before the procurator in the form of Jesus (John 18:36-38). The Bible is not occupied by the logical constructions inherent in any science, in which there are no contradictions in purely speculate. aspect. I. in the Bible is known, revealed, experienced, accomplished. Old Testament concept emet means a reality that is considered to be valid. and obligatory, and therefore is I. Word emet related word emuna; both of them also mean → faith and → fidelity, which, in turn, are closely related to → mercy, → peace and righteousness (→ Justice, righteousness). In Greek lang. NZ concept I. ( aletheia), as well as emet, means something firmly established. and valid. existing; in addition, it is justice, truthfulness, reliability, fidelity, sincerity, honesty, the actual essence of the matter, respectively. I. saying, righteous teaching, righteous faith, but above all deities. reality. The most important Bible I. is the reality of the existence of God, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit and the Gospel.

I. TRUTH = THE REALITY OF GOD. God in His word and His deeds, in the fulfillment of His once given promise, is always faithful and reliable. There is perfect agreement between God's essence on the one hand and God's word and deed on the other (2 Corinthians 1:20). God cannot lie (2 Sam 7:28; 1 Sam 17:24; Ps 18:10; Ps 110:8; Ps 119:86,151,160; Mal 2:6). His promises, as well as threats, He is obligated. fulfills (Gen 24:27; Ps 32:4; Ps 88:3; Ps 91:3; Ps 99:5; Ps 116:2; Ps 119:90; Dan 4:34; Rom 15:8). The believer under all circumstances can count on God's I. and faithfulness, this is the basis of his salvation (Ps 35:6; Ps 39:11; Ps 91:4). Note. frequent combination of God's I. ( emet) with God's grace ( Hesed); trusting Him I. will know the great mercy of the Lord (Ps 39:11 and the following; Ps 56:4,11; Ps 60:8; Ps 85:15; Ps 137:2).

II. THE TRUTH REVEALED IN JESUS CHRIST. Jesus Christ is the Truth, because He, as true God and true man, with His whole essence, His word and His feat of redemption, revealed the perfect I. and realized it (John 1:14,17). In Jesus all God's salvation and all God's I. were revealed to us in the flesh (John 8:40; John 14:6,9). In Him the deities are fulfilled and confirmed. I. all God's promises of salvation (2 Corinthians 1:20). In Jesus, I. manifests itself primarily as light, exalted, heavenly, deities. a reality that makes God's revelation in the Son available to the knowledge of believers. Deities the kingdom of I. and → light is opposed by the demonic kingdom of → darkness and → lies (Lk 11:17-20; Col 1:13), associated with the power spheres of this world (Eph 2:2). With particular completeness, the concept of I. is revealed in the writings of John. Jesus is like kings. Witness of the gods. truth, is revealed in the midst of the godless, ghostly and deceitful world of the devil (John 8:44; John 18:36), and His death on the cross is I.'s victory over lies. The Risen One interprets the result of His redemptive feat as the exact fulfillment of everything that God previously spoke about in the OT (Luke 24:25-27). So I., revealed in Jesus, fulfills and confirms the vows. in the OT God's truth of the Father.

III. THE HOLY SPIRIT AS THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH. The transfigured Lord continues His work of salvation on earth through the “Spirit of truth” (John 14:17; 1 John 4:6; 1 John 5:6), Who instructs believers in every J. (John 16:13). By his introduction to any I., i.e. in the gospel of Jesus Christ, we are also indebted to the apostolic epistles, in which the New Testament message of salvation is clearly set forth for all time. Since only the Holy Spirit, as the I. Spirit, can make God’s salvation in Christ available to people, Jesus declares “blasphemy of the Holy Spirit” (→ Hula, III, 4) to be such a guilt that there is no forgiveness (Mt 12:31,32; Mk 3:29; Lk 12:10; cf. Heb 10:29), for it represents a complete renunciation of I. and the guilty one is irrevocably given over to the kingdom of darkness and lies.

IV. THE GOSPEL ABOUT JESUS CHRIST AS A WORD OF TRUTH. Paul and John often characterized the gospel as the ultimate expression of all that Christ has given to the world. They called it "the truth" (Rom 1:18), "the truth of Christ" (2 Cor 11:10), "the word of truth" (2 Cor 6:7; Eph 1:13; Col 1:5; 2 Tim 2:15), "Gospel truth" (Gal 2:14), "every truth" (John 16:13). The Word of God is I. The idea that the Gospel is I. in its entirety is fixed, moreover, in the next. expressions: "submit to the truth" (Gal 5:7); "believing the truth" (2 Thessalonians 2:12); "through faith in the truth" (v. 13); “walk in truth” (2 John 1:4; 3 John 1:3 et seq.); “Gird up your loins with truth” (Eph 6:14); "Sanctify them in Thy truth" (John 17:17). From this it follows that I. in this sense is inconceivable without its practical expression in righteousness and holiness (Eph 4:24 et seq.). Therefore, the opposite of I. is “unrighteousness” (1 Cor 13:6; cf. Rom 1:18), whoever persists in iniquity does not submit to I. (Rom 2:8), resp. in Jas 5:19 it is said about deviation from J., and in 2 Tim 3:8 that people resist J. God's J. appears only where there are people “from the truth” (Jn 18:37), i.e. . where a person voluntarily opens I. and recognizes it. Thus, "to know the truth" (1 Tim 4:3; Tit 1: 1) does not only mean to assimilate it with the mind, it means to be open and obedient to it (John 3:21; 2 Tim 2:25 et seq.). He who lives in sin cannot come to the knowledge of J., even if he is "always learning" (2 Tim 3:6-8). Even the one who accepted the I. faith as a gift of God must “walk in the truth” (Gal 2:5; 3 John 1:3), otherwise he may lose it again and doom himself to destruction (Heb 10:26). But he who has established himself in the I. of the Gospel knows that the I. becomes the determining force of his life. He can no longer do anything contrary to I. (2 Cor 13:8), and it brings righteousness and holiness (Jn 17:17; Eph 4:23 et seq.), makes a person free (Jn 8:32) and honest in obedience AND ., and as a result, capable of unfeigned brotherly love (1 Pet 1:22; cf. 2 John 1:1; 3 John 1:1). New life from God in every way is life “in truth” (3 John 1:4; cf. Gal 2:14; 2 Pet 2:2), which frees the believer from all ostentatious righteousness (1 John 2:21; 1 John 3:18) and endows him with the ability to worship God (John 4:23 et seq.) and serve (Eph 6:14) in the Church, which is the affirmation of J. (1 Tim 3:15).

v. TRUE = TRUE. Along with the interpretation of the center. bibl. of the concept of I. as I. of God, Christ, the Holy Spirit and the Gospel, we find that this concept is repeatedly used in the generally accepted meaning. I. here means truthfulness, sincerity, reliability in thoughts and deeds (John 8:17; 1 Cor 5:8; 2 Cor 7:14), as well as the fact that a certain statement is true and corresponds to reality (Ruth 3:12; 2 Kings 19: 17; Proverbs 8:7; Mark 5:33; Rom 9:1; Eph 4:25; Tit 1:13).

So that they would do good, be rich in good deeds, be generous and sociable, laying up for themselves a treasure, a good foundation for the future, in order to achieve eternal life.(1 Timothy 6:18-19).

What is generosity? Giving in excess. At first, you leave change in boxes at gas stations, for example. This is where it starts. And then you catch yourself thinking that you can bless someone financially for real.

laying up for himself a treasure, a good foundation for the future, in order to attain eternal life

Note that people will lay up good treasure for themselves not in eternal life when they go to heaven, but here on earth. But what treasure? Not looking for money, but a job. Because work is righteous wealth, and money is unrighteous. Labor useful to society, professional, masterful, brings profit. This is right. A person's faith, his usefulness, his efficiency is what will go to heaven as a good treasure for eternal life.

Money by itself should not be an end in itself. Because it is self-interest, greed, mammon. The devil will always bring such a person a temptation, a temptation, to give him a reason to fall for this money.

The Lord remembers us, blesses us, blesses the house of Israel, blesses the house of Aaron; Blesses those who fear the Lord, small and great. May the Lord add more and more to you, to you and to your children. Blessed are you by the Lord who made the heavens and the earth. Heaven is the Lord's heaven, and He gave the earth to the sons of men.(Psalm 113:20-24).

God, as a loving Father, gave the earth to His sons, not to sinners. It is clear that sinners seized the earth by deceit and treachery. But God said to the sons: I give you the earth, be fruitful and multiply and populate the earth and have dominion over everything. We stocked up on a guarantee from God, His desire that the earth should come into our possession. That we extend dominion where He directs.

The dead will not praise the Lord, nor all who go down into the grave; But we will bless the Lord now and forever. Hallelujah.(Psalm 114:25-26).

The Bible does not only refer to the physically dead as dead. Those who are not born of the Spirit, but born of the flesh, Jesus calls dead. We praise the Lord, because He gave us, the sons of men, the earth to own. If you have enlisted the desire of God and you know for sure that His will is this.

Once a couple came to me who could not have children. They had a certificate from doctors with a medical diagnosis of their childlessness. But they had a desire, like Abraham and Sarah. They began to work, to speak the Word and not only to speak, but also to do. They began to believe, write the names of children. The couple now has three children. Because it is the will of God.

Instruct the young man at the beginning of his path: he will not deviate from it when he is old.(Proverbs 22:6).

It means, in childhood, instruct the child on the right path. Because a young man is not considered a child. At the age of 16, it is too late to give instructions. Taught from childhood, a person will go further in life this way. It is almost impossible to change it. But what, in what way to instruct him? In two things:

The rich rule over the poor, and the debtor becomes the lender's slave.(Proverbs 22:7).

1. The poor will always be the slave of the rich. I saw in America how 7-8 year old children from the Christian community do their own work: they write something, study, no one forces them to study. They have a purpose, aspiration. Already now they are thinking about their future profession. They care about who they are and where they work. Because they are instructed from childhood on the right principles.

2. The debtor becomes a slave, a servant of the lender, creditor. Therefore, son, never borrow.

But to remember the Lord your God, for He gives you the power to acquire wealth in order to fulfill, as now, His covenant, which He confirmed with an oath to your fathers.(Deuteronomy 8:18).

A covenant is a promise. God promised something to the church, to His people. Certain specific things on earth. In order to fulfill this covenant, God gives the power to acquire wealth. If you are not a co-worker in the command of the Lord, then He will not give you this strength. Because it is written that He gives power to acquire wealth in order to fulfill His covenant.

Interestingly, God speaks of profit:

Thus says the LORD your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: The LORD your God, who teaches you WHAT IS USEFUL, guides you in the way you should go.(Isaiah 48:17).

What is useful? How to fish? How to wash a cup? Translated from Hebrew, it sounds: "teaching you to make a profit." Often in life you come across the fact that people decide to start a business without first calculating all the costs associated with this: purchases, taxes. No wonder they end up with no profit, if not a loss.

Therefore, God teaches you the basics of economics, methods of making a profit. From the point of view of the economy, any business is designed to solve, meet the needs of society, but in order to start and develop it, you need profit. Lack of profit is the main reason for the rapid curtailment of all charitable affairs.

If then, being evil, you know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him.(Matthew 7:11).

So, Jesus confirmed that the Heavenly Father wants us to prosper, enjoy, and be happy. He wants us not to be slaves to anyone: neither the rich, nor the creditor, nor the aggressor. He wants us to be leaders and founders of enterprises, companies, structures. Because this is God's will for you. He will give an idea to do something for Him and financial provision as a tool to realize this idea. Tim

bible truth

Christ said: "AND YOU WILL KNOW THE TRUTH AND THE TRUTH WILL MAKE YOU FREE... I AM THE WAY AND THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE" (John 8:32 and 14:6).

Therefore, Christ is the Truth, and His word is the true message for man.

There is only one book of God in the world - the Bible. It has been translated into Russian from two ancient languages. The Old Testament is from Hebrew, and the New Testament is from Greek. Therefore, it is important for us to assimilate some of their expressions in order to know the truth about God, Christ, and man.

1. Name of God

First of all, we will define the names of God. The Bible does not teach at all that God is the only threefold person. But it teaches that there is one God in three persons. The name God comes from the Hebrew word "Elohim", meaning the plural, or Trinity. It is used about 2,500 times in the Bible.

Let's dwell on several Bible texts regarding this truth.

"And GOD SAID (ELOGIM): Let us MAKE MAN IN OUR IMAGE, IN OUR IMAGE" (Gen. 1:26).

"AND THE LORD GOD (JEHOVAH-ELOGIM) SAID: LOOK, ADAM HAS BECOME AS ONE OF US" (Genesis 3:22).

"Let's go down and confuse THEIR LANGUAGE THERE" (Gen. 11:7).

"...WHO SHOULD I SEND AND WHO WILL GO FOR US?" (Isaiah 6:8).

At present, the very popular name of God is taken from the Hebrew language - "Jehovah". Translated into our language - the Lord or Jehovah.

In the book of Exodus 3:14 we read: "I am the seven that exist." And in Hebrew - Jehovah, and means: I always am, without beginning or end.

It is also important to know that God did not immediately reveal himself to a person with different names, but gradually, as he needed.

In the beginning, God announced his first name to Adam, Elohim, or God in three persons, as Creator and Creator. But already in the second chapter, in the fourth verse, a combination of two names Jehovah-Elohim appears. Translated into our language - the Lord God.

The name Jehovah appears here as a divinely redeeming name. When sin entered the world and redemption was needed, then God came to man as Jehovah-Elohim, or the Lord God. And in connection with the redemption of man, the name Jehovah has seven corresponding names that supply all the needs of man from the time of his fall until redemption.

All these names are also names of Jesus Christ.

1) JEHOVAH-JIRAH. "On the mountain of Jehovah will be seen," or the Lord will provide for Himself a sacrifice. Gen.22:13-14. Compare in relation to Christ - Rom.8:32.

2) JEHOVAH-RAPH. "I am the Lord your healer" Ex.15:26. Christ was also a healer. Luke 4:18.

3) JEHOVAH-NESSI. "The Lord is my banner" Exodus 17:8-15. It means "The Lord is my victory". Christ the Redeemer - victory over the devil. 1 Peter 1:18.

4) JEHOVAH-SHELOM. "Lord of the world." Judges 6:24. Compare about Christ: "He is our peace." Ephesians 2:14.

5) JEHOVAH-RAA. "The Lord is my Shepherd." Ps.22:1. Christ said that He is the good Shepherd. John 10:11.

6) JEHOVAH-TSIDKEN. "The Lord is my justification" Jer.23:6. And Christ is our justification. Romans 5:1,18.

7) JEHOVAH-SHEMAI. "The Lord is there." Ezekiel 48:35. Compare about Christ - Mat.18:20; 28:20.

2. Is Christ God?

Let Scripture itself speak for Him.

1) He is the same Jehovah. John 8:58. - "I am". He does not say "I was," but "I am," that is, "I am." "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever." Heb.13:8.

2) He is one of the Trinity, in Hebrew Elohim or the Creator. Col. 1:16.

3) He is "Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end." Rev. 1:8.

4) He is Almighty - "Almighty", "Mighty God". Rev. 1:8; Isaiah 9:6.

5) The Apostle John presents Him as "the true God". 1 John 5:20; John 1:1.

6) Thomas calls Him God. John 20:28.

7) The Apostle Paul calls Him God. 1 Timothy 3:16. Phil.2:6.

8) Mary calls Him God. Luke 1:47.

9) God the Father calls Him God. Heb. 1:8 compare with Ps. 44:7.

10) King David is inspired to call Christ Lord. Ps.109:1. (Hebrew: "Jehovah said to Jehovah").

11) The prophet Isaiah calls Christ God. "God is strong." 9:6.

12) Evangelist Matthew calls Him God. 1:23 - "Immanuel - God is with us."

13) The Lord Jesus presents Himself to Satan as God. Matthew 4:7. (The Pharisees condemned Him because He thought He was God.)

More evidence that He is God:

1) He accepts worship that belongs only to God. Matthew 14:33. Compare with Rev. 22:8-9 and Acts 10:25-26.

2) He forgives sins. Map.2:5-11. Only God can forgive sins.

3) He holds everything. Heb. 1:3. Only God can do it.

4) He has all authority in heaven and on earth. Matthew 28:18. It also belongs only to God.

5) He walked on the waves. Matthew 14:26.

6) He subdued storms and waves. Luke 8:22-25.

7) He healed the sick and raised the dead for His name. Luke 5:18-25.

8) Had the power to cast out demons. Map.1:23-27 and Luke.8:27-39.

9) He did many miracles that only God can do.

3. The Holy Spirit is the person and third person of the Trinity

1) He hovered over the water like a person. Genesis 1:2.

2) The Holy Spirit took part in the creation of the world and man. Job. 33:4. "LET MAKE man" (Gen. 1:27).

3) The Holy Spirit carried the prophet by the hair. Ezekiel 8:3.

8) The Holy Spirit was sent. Only a person can be sent. John 14:17, 26.

9) The Holy Spirit instructs, speaks, glorifies, proclaims, takes - and does all this as a person.

10) The Holy Spirit testifies. Acts 5:32.

11) He is talking to Philip. Acts 8:39.

12) The Holy Spirit speaks to Peter. Acts 10:19.

13) He participates in the resurrection of Christ. Romans 8:11.

14) He strengthens believers and intercedes for them. Romans 8:26.

15) The Holy Spirit dwells in the human heart. 1 Corinthians 3:16.

16) All are baptized in the name of the Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:29. There is much more evidence in Scripture regarding the identity of the Holy Spirit, but this is enough to believe the truth.

4. The definition of the soul according to Scripture

The Bible has four definitions regarding the soul. This stems from the lack of the right words in every language. Therefore, the same word often defines several things. So it is with the word soul.

1) The soul as a person. "All the souls that came with Jacob... sixty and six" (Gen. 46:26). "According to the number of souls..." Exodus 16:16. "In seventy souls..." Deut.10:22.

2) The soul is like life. "For all who sought your soul (life) have died" Exodus 4:19. "There is no greater love than if someone lays down his soul (life) for his friends." John 15:13.

3) The soul is in the blood. Lev.17:11. But here God says about animals that their soul is in the blood - in the blood, and not the blood itself. It says here: "every body," and a person is not only a body, but he is also an inner spiritual person. 2 Corinthians 4:16. Flesh and blood do not inherit the Kingdom of God. 1 Corinthians 15:50.

4) The soul is the inner spiritual man. “But if our outer man smolders (body), then the inner one is renewed from day to day,” that is, the soul or spirit. 2 Corinthians 4:16.

Man is an inner spiritual person living in the body. 2 Corinthians 5:6.

No one can kill the inner spiritual man when the body is killed, because he is eternal, immortal.

5. Man consists of three parts: spirit, soul and body (1 Thess. 5:23)

The body is an earthly house (2 Corinthians 5:1-9); the spirit is our inner man (2 Corinthians 4:6), and the soul is the life that abides in the spirit, from which it is never separated. That is why Scripture often speaks of the same thing. And when the spirit of a person, or this inner person, leaves the body, then the soul (life) goes along with it, and the body dies or falls asleep until the day of its resurrection, as Scripture says.

When we (spirit and soul) leave the body (2 Corinthians 5:8), being without a body, we still live. In Rev. 6:9 we read about those who were killed, their blood was shed, but they themselves were in heaven with the Lord.

We read the same thing about unsaved people - Is.14:9-10 - that they, being mortified in body, ended up in hell in spirit; there they possessed knowledge, understanding and talked.

We also read about Moses that he died and was buried. Deut. 34:5-6. But he himself, as a spiritual person, was alive and walked with Christ on the Mount of Transfiguration. Matthew 17:1-3.

Christ said that God is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for with Him all are alive. Matthew 22:32; Luke 20:38.

6. Creation of man

Man is created and begotten by the Spirit of God. His body is masterfully made from the dust of the ground (Gen. 2:7), and his spirit and soul, this inner man, came from the Spirit of God. 2 Corinthians 5:5. It is said that God breathed into the face the breath of life. Genesis 2:7. He breathed in that breath of life which He Himself possesses. Job 32:8; 33:4; Zech.12:1. Therefore, He is our Father, the Father of our spirit. Heb.12:9. He is the Father only of humans, not of animals. For the animal world, He is the Creator.

It should be noted that only the one who gave birth to or separated from himself a person similar to him can be a father. So God the Father gave us His spirit. 2 Corinthians 5:5. And we have become His image and likeness in spirit, since He has no body. God is Spirit, or Spiritual Person. John 4:24.

And this spirit is our spiritual personality. 2 Corinthians 4:16. And therefore we have the same spiritual manifestations that the Spirit of God has, that is, the ability to think, speak, manifest will, conscience and love. The animal world does not have such qualities, since they do not have a spirit, they are only bodily beings.

God also has a soul, as we do, or eternal life in His Spirit, or in a spiritual Person, although He does not have a body. Lev.26:11.

7. Our spirit and soul leave the body at the time of physical death.

Evidence: Gen. 35:18. When Jacob's wife died, her soul left her body.

When Stephen was stoned, he left the body in spirit. Acts 7:59.

When Jesus Christ died on the cross, His spirit left His body. Luke 23:46. And by this Spirit he descended into the underworld, and there he witnessed to the spirits, once the dead body, the living spirit. 1 Peter 3:18-20.

Moses died in body (Deut. 34:5-6), but lived in spirit (Matt. 17:3).

Peter knew that he must soon leave the bodily temple and come out of the body. 2 Peter 1:13-15.

Paul preferred to get out of his body and be with the Lord. Phil. 1:23; 2 Corinthians 5:8.

James also wrote that the spirit leaves the body at the time of bodily death. James 2:26.

Solomon says that when a person dies, his body returns to the dust from which it was taken, and the spirit returns to God, for it came from Him. Ecc. 12:7.

When Christ resurrected the girl, her soul returned back to her body. Luke 8:55.

And when Elijah resurrected the boy, his soul returned to the body. 1 Kings 17:21-22.

When the rich man died and was buried in his body, then he himself, the spirit, or the inner man, who is the SOUL, found himself in HELL. Luke 16:19.

Please note that this is not a parable, as some teach, but a real case. Christ says: "There was a rich man." Therefore, it was so. When Christ spoke a parable, there is such a note everywhere:

"He spoke another parable", or: "The Kingdom of Heaven is likewise..."

8. Existence of hell

The Word of God warns saying: “There were also false prophets, and you will have false teachers, who will introduce destructive heresies and, denying the Lord who bought them, will bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their wickedness, and through them the way of truth will be reproached” (2 Pet. .2:1-2). "... which the ignorant and the unconvinced turn to their own destruction, like the rest of the Scriptures" (2 Pet. 3:16b).

At the present time there are many such teachers who, not knowing the Hebrew and Greek languages at all, use some of their expressions in order to gain more followers for themselves. They say that the word HELL comes from the Hebrew expression "SHEOL" and from the Greek word "HADES", which means the grave. And therefore, there is no HELL, there is only a grave where a person with body and soul goes, and this is the end. And therefore we want to check, although on the basis of the Greek original, this is a false teaching.

1. GRAVE. In Greek, the grave is called MNEMA, not HADES. We see this truth in the following verses:

1) Mat.8:28 - ... He was met by two demoniacs who came out of the Coffins (in Greek "TON MNEMEION"). I use the New Testament of Ebergart Nestl.

2) Mat.23:27 - "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, that you are likened to painted Coffins..." (in Greek "TAPHOYS"). In Russian, often a grave carved into the rock is called a coffin. And the Greek language has two expressions: "MEMA" and "TAFOIS".

3) Mat.27:52 - "And the tombs were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised", in Greek - "TA MNEMEIA".

4) Mat.27:60 - And he laid Him in a new TOMB, which he carved in the rock ... "(in Greek -" MNEMEIO ").

5) Mat.27:61 - "There was Mary Magdalene and another Mary, who sat opposite the Coffin" (in Greek - "TOU TAFOU").

6) Mat.27:64 - "So order to guard the Coffin until the third day ..." (In Greek "TAPHON").

7) Mat.27:66 - "They went and put guards at the TOMB..." (Greek "TAPHON").

8) Mat.28:1 - "... Mary Magdalene and another Mary came to see the Coffin". (Greek "TAPHON"). So it is exactly in the following three Gospels, wherever it is said about the grave or about the tomb, these two expressions "MEMA and TAPHOS" are used everywhere, but nowhere and never - "HADES".

WHEN THE WORD "HADES" IS USED IN THE WORD OF GOD

Always where it is about punishment and suffering after bodily death.

2) Mat.16:18 - "... and on this rock I will build My Church, and the gates of HELL (HADES) will not prevail against it."

3) Luke 16:23 - "And in HELL (HADES), being in torment, he lifted up his eyes..."

4) Acts. 2:31 - "He said before about the resurrection of Christ, that His soul was not left in HELL (HADES), and His flesh did not see corruption." We read that when our Lord Jesus died on the cross, His body was buried in the TOMB (MNEMEYO), Mat. 1 Peter 3:18-20), but he did not stay there, but triumphantly went out from there, having conquered death and hell, and took away from Satan the "keys of HELL" (HADES) "and DEATH" (FANATOU).

5) Rev.20:13 - "Then the sea gave up the dead, (the bodies of people) that were in it, and DEATH (FANATOS) and HELL (HADES) gave up the dead that were in them ..." During the resurrection of the dead, death ( FANATOS) will give the body of a person, wherever it is buried, in the sea or land, and HELL (HADES) will give up the spirit (soul), and the united person again with his body will stand before the judgment seat of Christ!

THE EXISTENCE OF HELL

All Scripture teaches that HELL (HADES) is a real place. The Lord Himself clearly spoke and taught about this. Here are some proofs from the Word of God.

A) Mat.25:41 - "Then he will also say to those on the left side: Depart from Me, cursed, into the ETERNAL FIRE, (in Greek "TO PUR TO AIONION") prepared for the devil and his angels" (his servants) .

B) Mat.25:46 - "And they will go into ETERNAL TORMENT (in Greek for eternal punishment - "KOLASIN AIONION"), but the righteous into eternal life." If we admit, as some teach while refuting, that these torments will not last forever, then there is no eternal life. "Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. Whatever a man sows, that he will also reap" (Gal. 6:7), "...it is not possible for God to lie..." Scripture says.

B) Mat.13:42,50 - "And they will cast them into a fiery furnace; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth" (in Greek TEN KAMINON TOU PUROS), as in the Russian translation. If we admit the opinion that only everything ends with a grave, then how "there is crying and gnashing of teeth?" Indeed, in the grave "... there is no work, no reflection, no knowledge, no wisdom" (Eccl. 9:10). Thinking, suffering and gnashing of teeth are only in HELL. Luke 16:23.

D) The Apostle Paul himself believed and taught about the terrible consequences of the unsaved and those who do not submit to the Gospel of salvation: "In the flaming fire he takes vengeance on those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ" (literally in Greek - "EN PURI PHLOGOS". 2 Thess.1: eight).

E) Jesus Christ, speaking of the rich man (Luke 16:19-31), said the following: "And in HELL, (HADES) being in torment..." (in Greek "TO hades Uparchon en basanois").

E) In Rev. 20:15 we read that after the resurrection of all the unsaved and the Last Judgment, people will be thrown into the lake of fire (in Greek "TEN LIMNEN TOU PUROS" - literally - into the lake with fire). Is.14.

G) In the prophet Isaiah we read that the unsaved people go to the tomb (MNEMA) in their body, and themselves, with this spiritual person, go to HELL (HADES SHEOL).

In the second resurrection of all the unsaved and the terrible judgment, all those who did not believe in the Gospel and did not accept Christ as their Savior, the “lake of fire” awaits (Rev. 20:15). And they will have no rest day or night - Otk.14:9-11. This is not a parable or an allegory.

The opinion that God cannot send his children into the lake of fire is absolutely correct. But we must remember that not all people are children of God, the majority are "children of the devil" (John 8:44). The Word of God says: "He who commits sin is from the devil..." (1 John 3:8).

According to Scripture, those children of God, "who received Him" into their lives and hearts - John.1:12, and who "were born of water and spirit" - John.3:5, who repented and believed in the Gospel - Map.1 :fifteen; Acts 2:38. God will never throw such people into hell, but only servants of sin and the devil. If Hell did not exist at all, then the Lord Jesus Christ would not have had to come to earth and die on the cross.

9. The bodily resurrection of Christ

Christ rose bodily and gave the disciples the opportunity to check the legs, arms and ribs. Luke 24:39-44.

Thomas even allowed to put his fingers into the wounds from the nails. John 20:27.

Christ rebuked His disciples for not believing in His bodily resurrection. Mark 16:14.

All have sinned and are lost. Romans 3:23-24. All are conceived and born in sin. Ps.50:7. And only Christ can save. 1 Tim. 1:15; Acts 4:12.

11. Who can be saved?

Everyone, without exception, can be saved, and this requires a person:

Believe in the gospel and be baptized. Map.16:15-16.

Accept by faith Christ as your Savior. John 1:12.

Go through the process of rebirth "of water and the Spirit." By "water" we must understand the Word of God. John 4:10,14; James 1:18; 1 Peter 1:23.
