The Russian army will soon receive a new pistol to replace the Makarov. According to experts, this sample will become one of the most powerful pistols in the world with its light weight and dimensions.

According to the information voiced by the new director of the Central Research Institute of Precision Engineering (TsNIITOCHMASH) Albert Bakov, Russia has completed the stage of state testing of the pistol as part of the Udav development work. This pistol should replace the good old Makarov pistol, which for many years was the main personal weapon in the Russian army and various law enforcement agencies. At the same time, we note that the preparation of a replacement for the PM became known for a long time, and they heard about the Boa itself in Russia about two years ago. At the moment, representatives of the press managed to find out some details about the Russian secret development.

Talk about the need to replace the PM began a long time ago. Recall that the well-known Makarov was developed back in 1948, and since 1951 it entered service. The most common pistol in Russia was designed on the basis of the German Walter PPK for the police. Despite its reliability, simplicity and low weight, the domestic copy turned out to be less powerful. For example, the Army Colt used in the United States is largely superior to the PM in this indicator.

The task for the development of a new pistol for officers and other representatives of structures who are assigned personal weapons according to the staff list was given by the Russian military department at the end of the 20th century. The solution of the task was started immediately, but they could not immediately achieve the desired result and design a suitable sample. Subsequently, several times there were problems with the financing of the project, and the very view of how the pistol of the future should look like was revised. As a result, the Klimov Research Institute of Precision Engineering managed to cope with the task. The pistol was developed under the leadership of chief designer Alexander Borisov. Note that in creating a new model of personal weapons for the army, this time they did without copying foreign technologies.

First, let's pay special attention to the design of the pistol. A sample of the project "Boa constrictor" turned out to be very pleasant, elegant and even beautiful. This is due to the extraordinary decision of the TsNIITOCHMASH management to involve a group of specialists led by Vladimir Pirozhkov, who is a world-class industrial designer, to work on the appearance of the new pistol.

On account of Pirozhkov, he developed the design of a Citroen car for the head of the French state, as well as several years in the design department of the Japanese automobile giant Toyota. However, over the past years, the specialist has worked on the territory of the Russian Federation. Pirozhkov also collaborates with the Klimov Research Institute on a number of other projects, such as working on the look of the outfit of the future.

If everything is clear with the design, which we can evaluate in the photographs available on the network, then little is known about the technical characteristics of the pistol. When developing a weapon to replace the Makarov, the designers set themselves several main tasks, including simplicity, reliability, weight and acceptable power. And here it is important to note that the more powerful the cartridge of the pistol, the more difficult it is to achieve high reliability of the weapon. If you believe the words of representatives of the research institute from Klimovsk, then they managed to solve this practically unsolvable problem. The size of the new pistol and its weight (890 grams) are not critically superior to those of the Makarov, but at the same time, the Boa constrictor is significantly superior in power to the American Colt, which, in turn, has more weight and dimensions.

As we noted above, the exact characteristics are still unknown, since they are classified, but it can be assumed that its power will exceed almost all pistols in the world. Such conclusions are prompted by the fact that when designing a new army pistol, the achievements of the outstanding Russian designer Pyotr Serdyukov were used, in particular the Serdyukov self-loading pistol (SPS).

"Boa" will have one of the most powerful pistol cartridges at the moment - 9x21 millimeters and an effective firing range of a hundred meters. According to available data, from such a distance, the power will be enough to pierce body armor made of titanium plates and Kevlar or steel sheets 4 mm thick. Also, the new pistol has the prospect of inheriting one interesting feature from the SPS, namely the ability to use cartridges of a different caliber. The Serdyukov self-loading pistol, with a simple replacement of certain elements, could be adapted to use standard nine-millimeter cartridges from the PM or to 7.62 caliber cartridges for the TT pistol. We add that the "Boa" clip will hold 18 rounds and it will be possible to adapt a collimator, a sight and a flashlight to it.

Pistol SR-1 "Vector", also known as "Gyurza", developed by the designer of the Klimovsk arms enterprise "TsNIItochmash" Peter Serdyukov, is one of the most powerful 9 mm calibers in the world. This weapon should replace the regular "Makarov" in the Russian army.

“Preliminary tests have now ended. In the autumn we are entering the state tests, which we must complete by the end of this year, and next year, if the Ministry of Defense makes an appropriate decision, serial deliveries will begin,” says Dmitry Semizorov, general director of TsNIItochmash.

The appearance of "Gyurza" was due to the fact that such personal protective equipment as bulletproof vests began to enter the arsenal of the armies of the world. Accordingly, there was a need for a pistol that could pierce them. First of all, the special services became interested in the Serdyukov pistol, and he entered service with the special forces of the FSB of Russia.

Special forces fighters were attracted by these individual weapons with extremely powerful cartridges, which were developed for special operations. The new 9x21 ammunition has increased combat characteristics due to a heavy bullet, inside of which there is a steel core. It punches through a steel sheet 6 millimeters thick, or 30 layers of Kevlar.

According to gunsmiths, a pistol with such a cartridge can not only pierce a door, but also pierce an army helmet, body armor, and even stop a car.

- Work on a promising pistol "Boa" is in its final stages, - he specified. Preliminary tests have been completed, the shortcomings identified during them are being eliminated and samples are being prepared for state tests.

The characteristics of the pistol are classified. It is only known that the Udava store is designed for eighteen rounds. It is adapted to be equipped with a laser target designator, a collimator (a device that facilitates aiming), and a flashlight.

The country's oldest gunsmith Pyotr Serdyukov is working on the project. Actually "Boa" is a development, created by him earlier self-loading pistol Serdyukov (SPS), also known as "Gyurza". It is used by army special forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the FSB and the FSO. Able to penetrate class 3 body armor at a distance of 50 meters and beyond. Sighting range - 100 meters.

However, "Boa", as Dmitry Semizorov assures, will surpass in its characteristics all existing analogs. The general director of TsNIITochmash hopes to complete state testing of the pistol in 2016.

Submachine gun SR-2 "Heather".

The development of a submachine gun chambered for the powerful armor-piercing cartridge 9x21 SP-10 was started in the mid-1990s on the instructions of the Russian FSB. The new submachine gun, created at the Central Research Institute of Precision Engineering in Klimovsk, was first shown in 1999. It received the designation SR-2 (Special Development 2), and the code designation "Veresk".

Currently, the SR-2 and SR-2M "Veresk" submachine guns are in service with the FSB and the FSO of Russia, as well as a number of other Russian special services. The SR-2 is notable for its small size, but it provides significant firepower, in combination with armor-piercing cartridges SP-10, providing a reliable defeat of the enemy protected by bulletproof vests at ranges up to 100 meters.

Submachine gun PP-19 "Bizon".

The PP-19 "Bison" submachine gun was developed at the Izhevsk Machine-Building Plant in the early 1990s to arm the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The PP-19 was built with extensive use of components and parts from the AK-74 Kalashnikov assault rifle, in particular, a shortened receiver from the AK-74 with a trigger mechanism and a pistol grip, a folding stock from the AKS-74 are used.

The original high-capacity magazine was obviously developed not without the influence of the American Calico submachine guns, however, on the PP-19, the magazine is located more conveniently, and simultaneously acts as a forearm. Under the PM, a cartridge of caliber 9 × 18 mm was created. It has an undeniable advantage, the best suited for a melee weapon, one might say, almost a contact one: the bullet has a good stopping effect. Bullets with high penetrating power can pass right through or penetrate deep into the body of the enemy.

In this case, the shot does not necessarily have to have high energy. This principle was used by Makarov when creating a pistol. The average value of the muzzle energy made it possible to simplify the automation of the weapon; the PM used a free shutter and a short barrel stroke. The gun differs in the highest degree of reliability and unpretentiousness in operation. This achieves a high rate of fire. It is relatively lightweight and compact. The PM uses a multifunctional fuse, unique for the 50s-70s, which allows you to safely remove a loaded pistol from a combat platoon. Resource - 50 thousand shots.

The disadvantages include a significant effort required to pull the trigger - about 2 kg. And almost 4 kg with self-cocking. As well as an 8-round magazine. But in a modified version of the PMM, which began to enter the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the early 90s, the magazine capacity was increased to 12 rounds. Moreover, in the pistol it is possible to use both the old PEM cartridge and the new 9 × 18 PPM. In this connection, the weapon has become universal. If the PM is not able to penetrate body armor due to the low kinetic energy of the bullet and its low initial velocity (315 m/s), then the new bullet has acquired a high penetrating ability, its initial velocity is 420 m/s. This was achieved by sharpening the bullet and increasing the amount of gunpowder in the case by 30%. True, PPM pierces army body armor at a distance of no more than 10 meters.

In the 80s - 90s, unloading bulletproof vests began to appear in the West, which were additionally reinforced with equipment parts and weapons attached to them. In this connection, such equipment became too tough for the existing domestic army pistols. Therefore, R&D was initiated to create a new type of weapon with increased penetration. At the beginning of the 2000s, three pistols were adopted at once.

GSh-18(designers Vasily Gryazev and Arkady Shipunov) was created in the Tula Instrument Design Bureau. It is equally used in the army and in law enforcement agencies, including the prosecutor's office. Its main advantage is the use of a powerful 9 × 19 mm cartridge with an armor-piercing bullet that exits the barrel at a speed of 600 m / s.

Another advantage is the 18-round magazine. However, due to the strong spring, no more than a dozen rounds can be loaded by hand. The design of the GSh is extremely original. So, for example, the barrel is locked by turning it around its own axis. For testing automation on the barrel is 12 lugs. Instead of a trigger guard, a trigger was used ... Shooting from a GSh requires a lot of effort. In addition, the complexity of the design does not contribute to high reliability. One of the uses for this pistol is as a reward weapon. The pistol is produced in small batches.

State tests of a new army pistol are being completed, which should replace the PM - the well-known Makarov.

The need to replace the PM is long overdue. The pistol was developed on the basis of the German police pistol Walter PPK. The abbreviation meant criminal police pistol. His Russian version turned out to be quite worthy. True, he did not differ in power. With the American army "Colt" it could not even be put close. Nevertheless, the trouble-free "Makarov" remains the main personal weapon in the army to this day.

At the end of the twentieth century, the Ministry of Defense decided to give the task of developing a new pistol for officers and those to whom it was assigned according to the staffing table.

The process was launched, but creating a gun - it would seem, which is easier - turned out to be incredibly difficult. It didn't work right away. Then the work was interrupted due to lack of funding, the views on the pistol of the future changed. As a result, as it turns out, at the Central Research Institute of Precision Engineering in Klimovsk, near Moscow, they seem to have coped with the task set for a long time, under the guidance of chief designer Alexander Borisov. And they did it without copying foreign designs.

It is worth clarifying that the main difficulty in designing a good pistol is its small dimensions. And the more powerful the cartridge, the more difficult it is to achieve reliability.

According to experts, the designers from Klimovsk managed to solve an almost unsolvable problem. In dimensions and weight, not much exceeding those possessed by the Makarov, it was possible to realize the power of the shot, which is much superior to that characteristic of the Colt, which has a much larger caliber and dimensions.

The basis of the domestic pistol of the future was the ideas of the outstanding and oldest domestic designer Pyotr Serdyukov, implemented by him in the SPS self-loading pistol.

One can imagine the reaction of agents confident in their armor invulnerability.

The reaction was one of a kind. Employees of the FSO were banned from importing ATP into the United States. According to the Americans, it is too powerful even to protect the first person of the state.

In addition to power, the pistol, which was made within the framework of the Boa constrictor theme, is very elegant and even beautiful. When work on weapons was in full swing, the former leadership of TsNIITOCHMASH decided to take an extraordinary step. The team of Vladimir Pirozhkov, a world-famous industrial designer, was involved in shaping the appearance of the pistol. At one time, he came up with the design of the Citroen car, which became the base car for the President of France. Then he worked in the automotive industry in Japan - at Toyota. In recent years, he has been working in Russia and for Russia.
