The first gold watch for commanders 2214. Catalog of clocks with a pendulum and a fight, wall, table, fireplace, alarm clocks

Today (October 2006) the Board of Directors of OJSC "Chistopol Watch Factory" Vostok "decided to withdraw from production from January 1, 2007 one of the most famous models of Russian watches - "Commander".
“The decision to stop the production of these watches was caused by the fundamental changes in the army’s personnel, the increased demands of officers for the appearance and quality of watches. To replace obsolete Komandirskie models, watches have already been produced that meet the latest watch fashion requirements and are included in the domestic niche of watches of the middle and prestigious class,” said Vladislav Tsivilin, General Director of Vostok Innovation and Production Technopark OJSC.
The first samples of new watch models for the military have already gone on sale. The company is confident that the diverse range of Chistopol chronometers and their fashionable design will satisfy the needs of the most demanding consumer.
Vostok has been producing "commander" watches for over 30 years! All this time, they have been invariably in high demand among buyers, have been known on all continents, have been in space more than once, and still have the status of award watches of the Russian Ministry of Defense. This watch deserves to be included in the Guinness Book of Records. The successful production of professional watches for the military determined the main course of development of the Chistopol Watch Factory: the production of mechanical watches that accurately measure time at any temperature, in any aggressive environment, withstand high pressure, shock and overload. The history of "Vostok" is closely connected with cooperation with the Ministry of Defense of the USSR, by order of which the watches "Commander", "General", "Admiral" and "Amphibian" were developed for the military of all branches of the military.
The watchmakers have never deviated from the classical scheme: all models of watch movements have a Swiss escapement system, steel escape wheels and forks, a support on ruby stones, clockwork clock springs made of special precision alloys and an anti-shock device of the balance unit. Traditions are continued - the new watch has become a model of high-precision mechanics.

Perhaps the most legendary watches of the times of the USSR are the “Komandirskie”, which have been manufactured at the Chistopol plant since the distant 1965. Initially, since 1965, they were produced by order of the military leadership of the USSR. These were mostly premium watches. Customers first of all demanded to achieve the maximum shockproof and waterproof effect. They were not intended for general sale, and therefore they had a special neck. Then, from 1967, on the basis of the Komandirskys, the Amphibia party was initiated, which had a water resistance of 200 m.

By the end of the same year, from time to time they hit the shelves of the Voentorg stores and were sold in the shortest possible time (2-3 hours) and was available to ordinary workers, because. their cost was equal to their usual "advance". In the 70s. the military leadership ordered a modification of the square-shaped watch. This watch became part of the dress uniform of officers, and was also the best gift for officials.

That is why such a watch case has acquired the informal name "Minister". Then, in 1991, a large batch (40,000) was delivered to the United States to be awarded by the American leadership to veterans of various military operations. Gradually, the quality of the plant's products began to deteriorate significantly, and from the 90s. was a complete failure. But already in the XXI century. the plant took measures to improve the mechanisms and reduce their cost, completely replacing the 22 caliber. Most recently, in 2011, they demonstrated a new Russian combat uniform of the military "Warrior", with a specialized 6E4 watch integrated into it.

Since the 90s the plant began to produce new popular types of products. Following this, watches were also significantly modernized in design, appearance and quality. Production was no longer aimed primarily at the aircraft, but at likely civilian consumers. Watches began to be produced in unreasonably "brutal" large cases. Almost all models have a bezel in the form of a ring scale to demonstrate the supply of oxygen (which is remarkable - even in non-waterproof models).

There were a lot of tasteless models like "Presidential" or "Admiral's" with an engraving of the type of troops. In general, the quality of production began to decline. The star moved to the upper area of the dial, having significantly grown in size, the engraving has changed. Here are the characteristic properties of real "Commander's" watches produced in the USSR: design 2234 caliber; under the number 12 - the title inscription "Commander"; a red, small (about 3 millimeters) star under the six, and under it - the engraving "Chistopol"; in the lower section, in small letters in a semicircle, there is an engraving indicating that the clock was ordered by the Ministry of Defense of the Soviet Union; "stop-second", interrupting the movement of the second hand, if the crown is pulled out, and restoring movement, if it is pressed again (handy stopwatch function); luminous elements on the dial, hands (hour and minute); At first, these elements were walkie-talkies, since the 80s - tritium, and in modern models - light-accumulating phosphors. The appearance of the numbers in different years of production has changed.

We have already talked about the Chistopol watch factory "Vostok". Today, more about their most famous collection - the wristwatch "Komandirskie". The contribution of the plant workers to the victory during the Great Patriotic War will remain in the memory of our and future generations. Evacuated to Chistopol, the Second Moscow Watch Factory did not stop its activities all the time, producing products for frontline soldiers, and literally in the very first year after the end of the war, the production of mechanical watches was launched. Models were produced mainly according to the drawings left over from the pre-war period.

Like many things in the Soviet Union, the Komandirskie watches owe their appearance to the state order from the Ministry of Defense. Many technologies are first tested in the military, and then get into everyday life in one form or another. So it was here.

The officers needed watches that were unpretentious, reliable, and therefore shockproof, with sufficient accuracy and power reserve, operating in a wide temperature range.

Men's Russian mechanical wristwatch "Vostok" Komandirskie Classic 539707

In 1965, the developments of the Chistopol Watch Factory were chosen. The design matched the purpose of the watch. Spacious dials with large markers and even wide hands, with applied luminous accumulator - the time should be visible in any conditions. Watches were issued with the inscription “Order of the Moscow Region” instead of “Made in the USSR”, they were not sold, but were given out exclusively as a reward to especially distinguished servicemen. They wore them with great pride.

"Vostok" to this day does not stop the production of mechanical watches "Komandirskie", which are deservedly popular, but today they are also available on open sale. A distinctive feature of the appearance, which immediately caught the eye, was the red star at the bottom of the dial, the symbol of the Red Army. In one form or another, the star has migrated to modern watches. For example, in the “Komandirskie” Classic 539707 model, it changed places (compared to the premium ones) with the written name of the brand, having moved 12 hours.

In the lower part - the inscriptions "Komandirskie" and "Made in Russia". Otherwise, this is a dial that has been produced for more than 50 years. Nothing superfluous: black hour markers in the form of Arabic numerals are painted on a light background, each with a round drop of luminescent. It is also applied to the xiphoid hour and minute hands. The color of the dial evenly changes from top to bottom from white to golden.

Men's Russian mechanical wrist watch "Vostok" Komandirskie Classic 819564

The unusual architecture of the case catches the eye - four beams protrude from the sides. The case is round, but due to such protrusions and the crown shifted from its usual position, the impression of a futuristic, asymmetric watch is created. The bezel rotates, minute marks are applied to it, you can mark the time. The case and bezel are made of watch brass with a titanium nitride coating, honey-copper color. The watch is delivered on a smooth leather strap with stitching.

"Komandirskie" 539707, as well as "Komandirskie" 819564 operate on a movement with manual winding Vostok 2414A, built on 17 precious stones and equipped with a shock-proof device of the balance axis, with a power reserve of at least 36 hours. The declared rate accuracy is -20 / +60 seconds per day, but in any service center they will help you set the watch for more accurate work, the operation is simple and does not require special investments.

"Commander's" Classics 819564 are absolutely round, a bizarre shape is given by a figured bezel and slightly beveled fastening lugs. The case is also made of brass, although the shade of gold is different here, more like a shade of champagne. The color of the dial is matched to the tone, made in a radiant manner and plays with shades in the sun.

Men's Russian mechanical wristwatch "Vostok" Komandirskie K-35 350606

The dial is covered by a convex, lenticular glass, which rises noticeably above the dial. Made of plexiglass, it scratches relatively quickly, but over the years it can be polished or simply replaced. Due to the great popularity of "Commander" watches, replacement will be inexpensive.

These two models can be called classics, repeating those same legendary watches, and I would like to complete the review with a completely different model. "Komandirskie K-35" 350606 are superior in price, but also have more interesting characteristics. First of all, stainless steel attracts attention. Both the case and the watch bracelet are made of it. Such material is durable and does not require additional coatings, the watch is simply polished.

With a diameter of 42 mm and a height of 15 mm, together with a wide bracelet, this watch has a pleasant feeling of heaviness. The water resistance of this model is also higher and reaches 100 meters - you can safely swim in the reservoirs without worrying about safety.

Of course, the Vostok 2432 mechanism also attracts attention. It has 32 jewels, automatic winding with a safety device from rewinding the spring, a frequency of 19,800 vibrations per hour, from a full charge, the watch will work for about 31 hours, but if you wear it every day, then use manual winding won't have to.

In addition to a simple calendar, this caliber is equipped with such a complication as a 24-hour time display. The additional hours are placed in a wide aperture at 12 o'clock, and at the bottom of the dial you can see a square that changes color from black to white depending on the time of day.

If we call the military symbols of the Soviet Union, then in addition to such world-famous ones as the Kalashnikov assault rifle or the T-34 tank, we can also name commander's watches. The exact name of these watches is “premium”. But it was the adjective "commander's" that stuck with this watch and became very famous ...

The history of Komandirskie began in 1965, when the Ministry of Defense of the then Soviet Union ordered a large batch of dust-proof shockproof watches for its commanders at the Chistopol Watch Factory Vostok.

In Soviet Russia, everything that was connected with the military or special services had a connotation of prestige and elitism. Practically not available for free sale, Commander's were no exception - they have always been the subject of envy and pride, a symbol of belonging to the Big Red Machine.

These are premium watches, they are given, handed over, they are awarded. They make up jokes about them, you will meet Commander's watches on dozens of pages of modern Russian fiction, you see their owners every day on TV and on the street.

The awarding of commander's hours to Red Navy, Red Army and Cavalry soldiers became widespread during the merciless Civil War. At that time there were no rules and award systems, so watches were given to almost everyone in a row.

Rewarding with commander's watches was a very common form of encouragement at that time, so the commander of a unit could take it out of his pocket right on the line and hand it over to the most brave and distinguished subordinate on the mission.

However, such a negligent attitude towards the award did not play a very good role in history. After all, in such cases there was no need to draw up a presentation on the recipient on behalf of colleagues, certified directly by the boss himself, as well as fill out a service record and send it to Moscow for consideration, and then wait for a negative or positive answer. As you know, failure to comply with any formalities never led to good. Therefore, it was to be expected that all awards would eventually be confiscated.

And so it happened. For example, watches and other award items were taken from members of the First Cavalry Army, which became the world's first cavalry of the Red Army, created during the Civil War in Russia under the pretext of fighting the remnants of the tsarist regime.

Since then, remembering the bad experience, official representatives of the authorities strictly observed all the necessary formalities, and the awarding ritual became more thoughtful and organized. Awards from their commanders were received only by those soldiers who really deserved it, proving their courage and courage in a difficult battle.

The first victory of the CSKA team in the USSR championship, 1973. The "commander's watch" is presented to the champions by the Minister of Defense of the USSR A.A. Grechko

When, after the fall of the Soviet Union, the goods of the world's most famous manufacturers poured onto the Russian market, these mechanical watches ceased to be of high status, but then their other qualities came to the fore, thanks to which the brand's popularity even grew.

In Soviet times, such watches were awarded to officers, and this award itself could not be called official. It is difficult to correlate it with such awards as orders and medals, and it is also not easy with cash prizes. The commander's watch was and remains such a type of award for a soldier, which would become a kind of memory for him and at the same time would not oblige him to anything.

It is today that many watch factories produce even women's watches under the guise of commander's watches, declaring that such watches (with a reduced dial) should be awarded to female soldiers. However, real commander's watches are not for women. Perhaps discrimination, but still it is a fact.

They have a standard-sized dial diameter, a special version of the mechanical winding and characteristic additional functions that allowed the owner of the watch to navigate the terrain in a certain way.

Military models of commander's watches also have civilian counterparts. After all, in our country it is customary to award watches not only to military personnel. For example, those employees of a manufacturing enterprise who distinguished themselves in the implementation of the annual plan are also often presented with special watches, which may contain the enterprise logo.

Unfortunately, in recent years, scams have begun to surface frequently. They are connected with the purchase by citizens of the country of watches with fake award documents.

As an example, I will cite one fact: the famous Doctor of Historical Sciences Viktor Isaev conducted his own investigation of scams and fraud with various awards. According to him, around the beginning of the 1990s, one could buy the most honorable letter of that time, signed by the head of state himself, for three thousand dollars, and a commander's watch for five thousand dollars. The value of such hours is obvious!

Among the buyers-"crooks" were mostly high-ranking officials: directors of the largest industrial enterprises, deputies of the State Duma and other persons holding high positions. In general, those who could afford such a watch.

However, I believe that in this case, the award watch lost its significance as an item issued for courage and valor, and beautiful models became completely ordinary watches, and not awards “suffered through” in battle. This proves that real commander's watches in the USSR were of great value, and literally everyone dreamed of taking possession of them. A person who had such a watch was considered a real hero and commanded great respect from almost everyone.

The Russian army will no longer receive mechanical "Commander's" watches produced by the Vostok plant with equipment. As explained in the military department, the reason was the lack of independent production of watches and watch mechanisms in Russia.

“Unfortunately, the Chistopol watch factory Vostok, which produced Komandirskie watches, stopped mass production of watches, and other Russian factories make them from foreign components. Therefore, we have so far refused to include watches in equipment, ”said a representative of the military department.

At the Vostok plant, they could not explain why they no longer produce watches. Watch expert Timur Baraev says that the production of original movements was stopped at Vostok in 2004, and by 2008 watch production was completely curtailed.

“In Chistopol, at the Vostok plant, they made unique watches that worked without winding for 36 hours, withstood an army jeep, shocks, falls, immersion in water 50 meters and other extreme tests. They had their own, very reliable mechanism and the highest production culture - their defective rate was lower than that of the Swiss ETA,” Baraev said.

“Time now shows everything - from phones to microwaves. Therefore, if a person puts something on his hand, he does it not in order to know the time, but to show his significance. Unfortunately, Vostok did not fit this role ... "

Baraev noted that there are practically no manufacturers of watch movements left in Russia. “The only factory that makes watches with its own mechanism is the Rocket Petrodvorets Factory. But they are only restoring production, and there, of course, watches are unlikely to be 600 rubles, like at Vostok - people there buy machine tools in Switzerland, invest a lot of money in the modernization of production”

Today, the younger generation does not even have a clue what is “ commander's watch Soviet, because before they had to be earned, but today they are freely sold, and you can even order them with home delivery via the Internet. The heroes of the past never dreamed of such a thing!
