Do-it-yourself medallion from a cartridge. Jewelry from old live ammunition - the work of the studio Impact Accessories How to make a pendant from a bullet

An original military-style medallion, inside of which you can send a small photo or a miniature little thing dear to your heart, is easy to make from old cartridges. Since you have to work with life-threatening items, make sure that they are completely safe and there is no possibility of an explosion.

To make a medallion from a cartridge with your own hands, prepare:

  • two cartridges;
  • a piece of copper wire;
  • wire cutters;
  • soldering iron;
  • solder;
  • Dremel with attachments for metal cutting and grinding;
  • nail;
  • a hammer;
  • vise.

Step 1. Take the first cartridge and clamp its plastic part in a vise.

Step 2. Warm up the sleeve with a blowtorch. Do not overdo it, 5 - 10 seconds will be enough. Carefully remove the sleeve from the plastic shell.

Step 3. Using a hammer and nail, remove the primer from the case. Try not to damage it. It will be needed for further work.

Step 4. Steps one through three, inclusive, repeat for the second cartridge. Please note that their caliber should be the same, but it is worth choosing different brands. As practice has shown, sleeves of the same brand for some reason do not fit well into each other, and for this work this is a key point.

Step 5. Secure the second sleeve in a vice or in another convenient way, and cut off part of the side walls.

Step 6. Take a small sanding block or a Dremel machine with a sanding attachment and work hard on the inside of the two resulting sleeves. You need to remove the remnants of plastic from the walls, and also clean the hole for the primer from sharp metal edges.

Step 7. The side walls of the capsules also need to be cut off, and then the edges of the cuts should be carefully sanded.

Step 8. Insert the primers back into the holes on the shells. Fix them with epoxy.

Step 9. Push the sleeve, the height of the walls of which has remained unchanged, onto a metal part of a suitable diameter. Carefully expand the diameter of the workpiece. Check that the second blank from the sleeve is included in the first and at the same time sits tightly.

This is probably the most creative disposal of cartridge cases from live bullets that have served their time. Now they can be considered symbols of pacifists. I think "We are for peace and beauty" is a suitable slogan for Impact Accessories.

The craftsmen of the creative jewelry studio take used cartridges, bullets and cartridge cases for scrap, and make original jewelry from them (rings, pendants, pendants, earrings and crosses), you can even order them according to an individual design. Of course, everything is not so simple - the material of the bullets cannot be called pliable, it takes a lot of effort to unbend and align a small piece of metal. Surprisingly, the core of an empty cartridge case - the primer becomes the center of decoration, its main part, which is “played out” in different ways to transform into different peaceful things.

In addition to the fact that everything is polished and engraved, craftsmen decorate “combat” jewelry with pebbles. The main attraction of the studio's collection is a cartridge cross made in Britain back in 1917. A real veteran who got a second life, beautiful and peaceful.

A few photos on the topic "How it's done"

Of all the anti-war peacekeeping actions, the most beautiful and creative were and remain art projects in which deadly weapons are turned into harmless, cute little things filled with kindness and love. For example, in, like Pedro Reyes, from David Palmer, Magnus Gjoen, whom we have already written about. Or, beautiful handmade decorations made from spent bullets by the creative team of the studio Impact Accessories.

The art studio team accepts spent bullets for creative recycling. Designers cut out money clips, rings and earrings, pendants and pendants, brooches and crosses from old cartridges that have served their time, giving the cartridges the shape of plants, insects, animals and birds, as well as cutting out creative abstract shapes from them as blanks for future accessories. . Some jewelry is encrusted with precious stones or framed with noble metals, but mostly these cute little things are of simple and concise design, with patterns and ornaments engraved on aluminum, nickel or brass surfaces, polished to a shine by skilled jewelers. Make fashion, not war!

To turn cartridges into jewelry, designers need to put in a lot of effort. Manually cut the sleeve, straighten the metal, polish and grind it to a shine, cut out the shape of the future jewelry. And then make it so that this decoration pleases, makes you want to touch the shiny surface, run your finger along the smooth polished edges, try on the decoration for yourself. The center of the composition is always the capsule, creatively beaten by designers. The middle of a flower, the head of an animal or bird, decorated with a precious stone, or without additional inlay, the capsule also serves as confirmation that in the "past life" the pendant, brooch or ring was really life-taking ammunition. Today, they do not take away, but give people goodness and beauty, symbolizing peace and tranquility under a clear sky.

There are many crosses in the collection of ornaments made from cartridges, which are considered to be guardian amulets. And among them there is one "veteran", a unique cross, which will soon celebrate its centennial anniversary. "Born" in 1917 and intended for military operations, after a hundred years this cartridge received a new life, peaceful and calm. You can see the entire collection of killer jewelry on the Impact Accessories website.
